- Hovertravel is a ferry company operating from Southsea, Portsmouth to Ryde, Isle of Wight, UK. It is the only passenger hovercraft company currently operating in Britain since Hoverspeed stopped using its craft in favour of catamarans and subsequently ceased all ferry operations in 2005.

It's an amazing experience. I just wish it could have lasted more than 10/15 mins. It was over so quickly.
Seeing the passengers disembark reminded me of the old comedy sketches where they got out of a car, nipped round the back and got back in... didn't realise it was so big!
Rode on that one 41 years ago when my grandparents lived on the IOW.

Good heavens, I didn't realise hovercraft were back in use again especially going to the Isle of Wight. Last time I saw one was in Dover on a day trip to France in the 70's
Thanks for putting this up it's made my day
Welcome. Yes my husband said that to me too las time he saw during 70s in France. It was a nice experienced and amazing watching hovercraft its like spaceship. Please Subscribe my channel thank you for watching and have a good day
The service has been running continually since 1965.
Portsmouth is where it originated and has never stopped
Thanks for posting this.
I normally watch the Hovers coming and going from the Ryde pad via the camera atop the hotel, run by railcam.
I've been fascinated by hovercraft for most of my life and not yet been lucky enough to get onboard for a flight.
I found the Hovers by accident as I came looking for the trains.
So I'm getting a double treat with both Hovers and trains in the same place.
I'd really appreciate it if you posted more landing or takeoff footage of the Hovers.
One day I'll make it to Ryde and get there by hovercraft.
Thank you for your good feedback. Yes same here Iâm very fascinating watching Hover Craft during my stay in Isle of Wight. And yes lot of video to post too. Thank you and enjoy. Please subscribe my channel too â€ïž. You must try the Hover itâs worth it for experience only 8-10 mins from Isle of Wight to Portsmouth vice versa. Goodluck

I really enjoyed and appreciate your time taken in putting these videos up.
I actually felt like I was walking with you along the pier and the seafront.
I'll try to get a hovercraft journey in soon, but I'm quite a distance from them
Never say never though....
Thanks again for your videos.

Would love to have known what the issue was with the gent moaning at staff. Me thinks he needs to look around and see the people with walkers and in wheelchairs to put his problem into perspective. Love the video, used to use the service when I was younger for holidays. Older craft then though, these look lovely!
Hi yes it was lovely to watch the hovercraft coming and go its Amazing. About the staff and passenger I think He moaning about people not wearing mask the entire journey. Thank you for watching and please subscribe my channel â€ïž
