Thank you for sharing this. What a great selection of songs. J.J. Cale is my favourite artist, without a doubt. I'm 77yo, and have been listening to his music for over 40 years, and will never tire of listening to him.
Great songwriter, tasteful guitarist, understated singer, but above all things JJ was sane. He stayed free of the dark machinery of music business stardom and did his unique thing.
He is regarded by his peers as one of the greatest pickers ever. Neil Young mentioned him in the same breath with Hendrix. Knopfler copied him. smooth and subtle. Wrote some of Claptons greatest hits. I do Call Me the Breeze, Lynyrd Skynyrd version in kareoke.
@@mannfm11 Knopfler is a Scottish man avocated to american folk music, and always said that JJ Cale is an inspiration to him, they played several times together. "copy" is a strong word my friend, you are talking about people who wrote the rock history here.

I was introduced to JJ Cales music in 1975 with his "Really" album. It is a shame that he never received the acclaim that he so richly deserved. Thank God that Eric Clapton finally discovered him and exposed him to the world. JJ's wife Christene Lakeland was probably the best thing that ever happened to him. She always lit up when she was in his presence. They truly loved each other. She still misses him to this day. Good people. My life is richer because of them and the "Tulsa Sound." Vaughn
JJ Cale was asked about this paradox and he said he was happy to have found the balance, and stay out of the spotlight while being able to play music his entire life
I'll miss JJ Cale forever! He was like a thumbprint. One of a kind. I thank Eric and any others who helped bring more attention to his music. He was a free spirit!
J.J had a unique rhythm and beat to his songs and his lyrics were out of the world. Clapton vibed well with him in their personal and musical styles. Love them
I was playing in a funky little club in Nashville way back in 1979. I had a little 3 piece rock & blues band and I had my eyes closed, playing away and when I opened them, Leon Russell was nose to nose with me and says, "Whar's Nix?" meaning Don Nix. He and J.J. Cale had come to hear us. I only had a drummer and a bass player with me or I would've asked them up. Nix had just gone back to Memphis after staying with me for a couple weeks but it's a great memory in my books!!! They stayed for a set and we had conversation on break but what a night it could have been indeed!!!
i was there at '04 crossroads when they finally took the stage together...eric standing back as second guitar..christine off to the side...what a moment..everyone grinning except J.J. until the end ..then a big smile from him too...lifetime moment for me..
Thanks Patsy Davis and Eric Clapton for this great homage to a great musician. Lots of favorite guitarists ,singers , musicians in there màkes for a truly moving collection of J J 's compositions
this is an album I can leave on comfortably loud when I pull the Softail into a gas station or rest stop and nobody complains. they're instantly caught up in his riffs. they don't know who it is generally, the ones who do give a nod. not for my choice but in common appreciation of iconic talent he left with us.
Bumped into this guy some forty years ago and he's wowed me since, so melodic and yet so "out there" and very inventive. A true artist and foremost musician. I salute you J.J.CALE. r.i.p
The greatest musician ever. Learned about him in the 70s and i've been a great fan of him since. He did not want to be a star, just af musician in a band playing music and have a great time. And make a living of it. Respect, he could have made it to the stars, but he prefer a simpel life doing what he love. And he lived his life like he wanted to. He loved to be unknown and be able to walk around like he pleace. Thanks for the music and the inspiration.
Plus he loved his wife and included her in everything...and remember when he had stage fright..Christine stood in front of him on stage and said.."just look at me babe"..so is also a great love story
Like many of us I have loved JJ for years, and am so old I've followed Eric Clapton since the 60s. I am so thankful that you help put this music on top where it belongs. A star up above guides you as far as I'm concerned.
Welcome Patsy! Sounds like u go a lotta catching up and enjoying to do! Can't belive Eric didn't get u there sooner. I am pretty old too, and even busy on a couple deathbeds. Music of this caliber got me thru the worst times and the best times, (along w/ prayers galore) This video is awesomely beautiful, spanning different time frames, gorgeous. Keep this up and thx much, blessings .
I’ve been a painter and practicing artist for 42 years and there’s a synchronicity in JJ’s work .. it’s what makes true art in a masterpiece... he will live on in our hearts and minds ... god bless him ...
I always like Eric's music. Back in the early 80's, I was in Air Force stationed in UK & met a British neighbor in RAF who was a great guitar player. We talked of musical interests & talents, & when he knew I was harmonica player, he asked if we could jam together. He was the one who turned me on to JJ Cale. I was so glad to see that Eric & JJ did an album b4 JJ left us.

Clapton, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler.....a whole host of fabulous musicians to play keys, bass, percussion, drums, backup vocals and tops it all off with my two favourite living electric guitar players, Derek Trucks and John Mayer. Love it!!

JJ was the MAN! So under appreciated. This is a fabulous tribute!
I don't think his wife gets enough credit either.. she lends her voice very subtley to JJ's singing.
Much respect, sister!
and she is a talented musician in her own right. They had an amazing relationship
J.J. IS IN HEAVEN WITH THE BOYS PLAYING FOR THE ANGELS
I Could Listen To This All Day And Night! RIP j j Cale 😎Awesome
JJ Cale was asked about this paradox and he said he was happy to have found the balance, and stay out of the spotlight while being able to play music his entire life
Will always be missed by all the future generations who would come to knew about him and listen to him.
I'll miss JJ Cale forever! He was like a thumbprint. One of a kind. I thank Eric and any others who helped bring more attention to his music. He was a free spirit!
It's so sweet like a caressing
any others, you can thank Skynyrd for sure.
Yeah …..😊..❤talk to me ….. 23:27
I have not gone yet ….talk some more Marty ….❤😊 28:35
For sure he's a guitar hero
His voice is like a calming balm that envelops one's body and soul. R.I.P.
Wow, thnx for finally clearing that up for me. Very apt.
Su beat es un calmante, un enervante como el perfume de las flores.
J.J had a unique rhythm and beat to his songs and his lyrics were out of the world. Clapton vibed well with him in their personal and musical styles. Love them
Great compilation of JJ Cale's music
I was playing in a funky little club in Nashville way back in 1979. I had a little 3 piece rock & blues band and I had my eyes closed, playing away and when I opened them, Leon Russell was nose to nose with me and says, "Whar's Nix?" meaning Don Nix. He and J.J. Cale had come to hear us. I only had a drummer and a bass player with me or I would've asked them up. Nix had just gone back to Memphis after staying with me for a couple weeks but it's a great memory in my books!!! They stayed for a set and we had conversation on break but what a night it could have been indeed!!!
Great Story ! ✌️💗
Great music and tribute.Tom Petty and Eric Clapton sound like J.J. when they sing together! Thank you.
When Lynyrd Skynyrd, Clapton, Tom Petty & Willie Nelson, among others, cover your songs, you gotta be doing something right. RIP JJ Cale
❤
Indeed‼🌞🌿🌿🌿🌿
When you plays with and for a musical friend you approach deep love.
i was there at '04 crossroads when they finally took the stage together...eric standing back as second guitar..christine off to the side...what a moment..everyone grinning except J.J. until the end ..then a big smile from him too...lifetime moment for me..
Very special version of They call me the Breeze, watched it many times, that wee smile at the end.... Alex.
If I recall John Mayer was there as well, as background crew. Now, he’s one of the few keeping the blues alive.
Saw Eric in 78 with Dylan like the same , stood back and it was very prolific.
Super musicianship as always, beautiful tribute to a soulful guy, RIP troubadour...
Thanks Patsy Davis and Eric Clapton for this great homage to a great musician. Lots of favorite guitarists ,singers , musicians in there màkes for a truly moving collection of J J 's compositions
awesome ....always loved his music... I play along all the time ...R.I.P jj , your music inspired me to play. thanks
The interpretation of Magnolia from John Mayer is a masterpiece. The entire album is fantastic. But this piece touches the soul in a special way.
He always gets me grinning ear to ear. I love feel good music.
this is an album I can leave on comfortably loud when I pull the Softail into a gas station or rest stop and nobody complains. they're instantly caught up in his riffs. they don't know who it is generally, the ones who do give a nod. not for my choice but in common appreciation of iconic talent he left with us.
Makes logic true stuff.
I nod.
@@victorzamoranoblanco250 two nods!
I would play him anywhere, anytime, anyplace and scream it proudly
😊😊😊
Bumped into this guy some forty years ago and he's wowed me since, so melodic and yet so "out there" and very inventive. A true artist and foremost musician. I salute you J.J.CALE. r.i.p
tears to my eye's , as the Blue's does it for me every time!!!!
You summed it up well Jan.
Plus he loved his wife and included her in everything...and remember when he had stage fright..Christine stood in front of him on stage and said.."just look at me babe"..so is also a great love story
Yes Leelee. She was good to him. A great help on the stage and in life, a true love story.

An awesome homage to the late great J J Cale. RIP John. Thanks for sharing Patsy.
+sillyssg i had no idea who J.J. Cale was 8 months ago, i made this video for the man that changed that!!!
+Patsy Davis same thing with me which is what lead me to this video :)
Like many of us I have loved JJ for years, and am so old I've followed Eric Clapton since the 60s. I am so thankful that you help put this music on top where it belongs. A star up above guides you as far as I'm concerned.
soh loh mind expanding music ,glad to grow up listening to jjcale
Great tribute to a great musician like JJ Cale
JJ Cale and his Tulsa sounds..... Thanks to Clapton. Very nice of him to pay homage to a true legend.
Thank you Clapton, you knew what he contributed!
Thanks to JJ Cale!!!
Indeed... without JJ Cale's groove, Eric's work would have been different. Love JJ Cale. Love EC and friends. :)
Thank you, Patsy, for sharing this collection .... Eric Clapton & JJ Cale has been a good company !
The whole album is great. The Old Man And Me is exquisite. Thanks Patsy.
Eric I really love your respect for JJ,you are a great soul, love you my brother.
'The Road to Escondido'
Gordon McInnes. The most under-rated artist of our time. A genius song writer. RIP and thanks for leaving us these magnificent songs. We miss you JJ.
This man and his music changed the very structure of my brain. Love you in every life time JJ and Eric
Hello good morning how are you doing, i hope you had a great day. I'm Patti from Long Beach California, just looking for new friend and i saw your pic here Ok!
Clapton really gets it. He plays a lot like the old master on these tracks. Respect. This is music for connoisseurs.
Mostly, he just loves it. The rest is just natural talent.
supedersen
I'm not sure about that
There's jj Cale and that's that
Some things should be left alone
@supfersen no not really it's for any one and to the detractors if you don't like it don't isten to it duh
@Bluesbird, I agree. Clapton's rendition is decent also, no like, no listen, no brainer.

I think JJ cale was more undiscovered than underrated.Eric Clapton,Skynrd and others realized his importance as as artist, and embraced him,as well they should have. The rest is history.R.I.P. John.
I met Clapton back in 2007, he said I was the best guitarist he'd seen in decades.

Thank you Mr Clapton, for all you music, but I thought the concert where you played with JJ was just brillant.
But JJ Cale was in a league of his own.
He will be greatly missed.
came late to the blues a few years ago and have a blues band . JJ has influenced our sets more than anyone I can think of. We spread the gospel of JJ to a lot of newbies. Thanks, JJ! jonboy
