Five years....wow. You have been consistently honest from day one; the original Portugal OG. You were the first and still are the preferred source I refer folks to for info about what's really going on there. Grateful for ya! 🙏🏾

Cinnamon, at this point, you seem to be the only youtuber who is being honest. I understand that everyone's experience is different, but a lot of Americans, especially African Americans, make Portugal out as some type of heaven on earth. I did not live there as long as you, but Portugal likes to bait and switch. I'm glad you stuck it out because you will get your reward.
I just hope they don't give you the runaround when it's time to get your residency. Don't be surprised if they do, though. Hang in there until you get your residency. You are too good for Portugal. They don't appreciate educated black people like yourself. If you notice, you don't see black people in high positions there, and black folks have been in Portugal longer than in the US. I don't know if things have changed, but when I lived there, there were no black newscasters. I never even saw any black policemen. I hope things have changed since I lived there. Living there made me appreciate the US so much more.

Thank you for your kind words Teddy. I really do hope that it all works out. I'm hoping the commitment I made will be what I had envisioned. The inconsistencies are concerning. But I guess only time will tell.

Towards purchasing an health insurance in Portugal you only have to go to a CUF hospital and pay the package in wich you feel more confortable, its private and accepted throughout the country. You just have to be carefull with emergency room charges but like i said everything is well explained in english on those packages.

Thank you for the information! Unfortunately, the proof of accommodation requirement has changed from what you showed on the website. Airbnb is no longer accepted and you need a 1 year lease. This is for the San Francisco office. They have outdated information listed on the website.

Hi, Cinnamon, how are you doing?
Towards electricity bills you can make a yearly contract with EDP wich is called Conta Certa and provides you with a fixed amount to pay monthly.
At the end of the year you can chance it up or down following your electricity needs.

Thank you so much! I have heard good things about that electric company. I will switch my contract there. Thank you for the Conta Certa tip. I will ask for it.

    Hi Cinnamon ,
Are you saying that from the East coast NYC ,VSF didn’t require proof of Portuguese bank account ?
Also, just want to say thank you for a balanced review of your experience and knowledge of the process. I might have to work on my kooth and patience before my move. 🙏🏼✌🏼

Hey there! I applied at the DC office and was not required to have a Portuguese bank account before obtaining my temporary visa. However, I did have to open a Portuguese bank before completing the second part of my visa appointment in Portugal. Absolutely! Practicing patience is a must 🙂
