Greetings from Chicago Olga….. This spring 2023…I planted my 18 “ knot roses “?…. I think they’re called? They are in the front of my house under a beautiful dogwood tree. I’m so proud that they took root well …. I lightly fed them twice this year….10 are miniatures ( about a foot tall …. And 8 are 3 foot tall.) Now that it’s November, I thought of watering them maybe once or twice more and putting some sort of bucket or cone over them… ? ( is it too soon?)……..or would my bagged dogwood leaves and chicken wire be fine? I will get the cow manure ( hope it doesn’t stink up my yard lol…… people walk their dogs pass the house! Chicago gets lots of snow sometimes and…. I think the plants will get smothered under gobs of snow? And….. is watering before the snowfall still important? Love your show!!! You are sooo natural and I find you a bit funny in the way you correct your English 😂… such a perfectionist… lol You’re also a hard worker and a pleasure to learn from. Thanks for your precious tips on rose care! Of course I’ve subscribed!!!! Happy Thanksgiving Olga … and stay warm and safe this winter ❄️ Truly, 🎼RAIN RAIN🎼
Thank you Olga, you are very knowledgeable in your rose care. I will put some cow manure on my roses, if I can find some. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! 🤓
What a great educational video! Thank you for showing so many different examples of roses, I'm just learning about them and get confused about trimming. I'll make sure to remove black spot leaves from now on.
Ogla... Thankyou for Sharing. I like your information of what you post because it for small family home and garden and I have ordered 2 lady of shalott roses which I gonna plant in my garden soon and I'll be using your method. 👍👍👍
Fabulous video, Olga. Really helpful and interesting. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving. (We don’t have Thanksgiving in England but I’ve seen films where the characters say what they’re thankful for, so just to say I’m so thankful that you make these brilliant videos and share your knowledge with us. 💜)
Dear Olga, I am so jealous of how strong and upright your LoS branches are. My first year LoS has thing octopus canes that grow to all possible directions 🤦♀️ I guess I have to prune it back hard in spring and wait till it matures. Greetings from Spain!
@@OlgaCarmody it does get some 5-6 hours of sun.. I think it just needs some time, it is a young rose still. Hopefully soon it is as beautiful as your Lady of Shalott.
I live in Zone 6 NJ. My lady of shallots are in huge planters. Can I protect them like you did yours? I planted all 3 bareroot this spring and they are huge!! Over 4 feet tall already. 🥰. They are trying to become climbers badly 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Zone 6 can be tough. And I heard that this winter is going to be cold. How about moving those pots to the side of the house a cover them with leaves, soil, mulch….
Thank you for your suggestion. Salvias are good rose companions. My region of New England in US is prone to black spot on roses, I am going to do winter spraying with horticultural spray soon. As for Lady of Shalott, hm, it is quite tight there, taking into consideration future expansion of boxwoods... Anyway, Merry Christmas to you in England!
@@OlgaCarmody o dear u r so nice and I love all ur videos those are very informative but sad thing is that these old English bush roses and David Austin roses arent available in India 😩😩 but I'm happy with HT, polyanthus, floribunda ,miniature and Dutch roses 😍
Hi Olga, Shall I start pruning the roses upto west height and pruning the dead stems now? Or should I wait until end of October? I am in Connecticut( zone 7a).
Hi Olga, recently I am facing squirrel , rabbit and chipmunk issues. They are trying to dig around my roses also eating the buds sometimes. Can you please recommend a repellent product which really works in them?

Надо тоже купить розу Шалот.Я ею восхищена.
She is beautiful, and the way her blooms transition in color… This rose has the most “spoiled” space in my garden.
However in India winter is the season of flowering in roses 😅
Yes, it is so fascinating to me how different folks grow their roses in different parts of the world!
Live in Zone 5 Colorado, may I use manure compost and mulch for baby roses? I am your great fan.
Sure thing, you can you your aged compost. Just make sure it is aged.
@@OlgaCarmody that black kow manure is aged? Does it say on the labels? Thank you Olga
@@khinekhine613 yes, whatever is sold in the store is aged and is labeled as such.
Olga ,im a new subscriber. May I know if the cow manure you use is a 100 % manure or is it a mixed manure with planting soil? Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi Brenda, Thank you for subscribing! Black Cow cow manure is 100% composted cow manure with no other additives.
@@OlgaCarmody , Thank you Olga 🙏🏼
I have ordered from Amazon cow manure 😄
Is that all of them are own root rose or grafted 🧐🤔
Band roses are all by default own root, since they are propagated by cuttings.

Wait with pruning to first frost. Dead stems can be pruned any time.

so... I am realy confusing, I thought in cold climate, like my zone 6, shouldn't we wait to do proning in March? or we need to do before winter?
I created a video for you. Enjoy! It just aired.
