MichelleVa 77 I put in my 2 weeks too, I trained people and one became a supervisor and I am below her, she is now the managers favourite and is no longer my friend due to negative comments on my work while she does a different job, I did train her to do my job and now she is shitting on the sensei cause the manager loves her I work hard I get so stressed and the manager gives me less employees, so little that I have to be on call during my unpaid breaks, nothing I do is enough and any request I make, or idea of improving communication is taken to her as criticism, upper management is constantly complaining about labour cost even when there are only 2 people on shift, we limit our supply so much at night that we get constant complaints by customers and the manager complains about the few things that are left, I couldn't take it, so fucking ready to leave

LM Djnchen Last week I quit my job without notice! I was promised, even signed an agreement that the 4 hour daily commute was only during training and I would work from home in a few weeks. Then I was informed that there was a slight delay as a returning employee would be allowed to work from home first and then I would. The returning employee joined us in the office for training and never made it to work from home when 6 weeks later he was fired. I was told by a new manager who replaced a recently fired manager that my working from home was completely off the table but possibly they'd find me an office near my home in about two months. They'd also need me to come in for mandatory overtime on at least two saturdays per month and work another four additional hours during the week. Driving home that night yet again in flood waters which this time caused a check engine light in my car the next day, I decided I'd had enough! They sent the police to my house on two separate days and begged me via text to call so we "can discuss you working from home". I was waiting to be fired based on their three day no call no show policy and did not respond. I have a fledgling business which they were aware of and knew they'd be disrupting and although I am not making a lot of money, I do now work from home! Good luck to me!

They're scared that you will be better than them. If their supervisor comes in and sees you doing a great job but YOUR supervisor is just sitting around doing nothing then there's something wrong there. That's why they yell at you, gas light you and make you out to be incompetent when really they have already set you up for failure. This could vary from not having proper equipment or always ignoring you with important information like schedule changes or policy changes. At least, that's how I saw it. I still work at wendys and that's how I STILL see it. Managers are too scared to move on from their job so instead of becoming better they decide to make other people feel worse to make them feel better about themselves. I'm planning to quit soon

It got so bad last year that I actually sat in my car and contemplated suicide. I was shaking just sitting in the car and debating which method would be easiest to end my life. I have NEVER been suicidal, don't suffer from depression but after having had numerous jobs like this one over a period of 30+ years I reached a breaking point. Thankfully my faith got me through and the most horrible of my fellow employees quit. Now they are replacing her and I fear that this new person will be a repeat of the old person. The leadership of this place has shown me that they are not to be trusted when it comes to judgement on who to hire. Oh and btw, I've been told by my boss that he didn't hire me, I came with the company. He resents me, my salary, and my age. This is a VERY hostile work environment.

One thing I would add to this list is prejudice - employees from other sites, different nationalities, or new hires being listened to or having their ideas taken seriously when those at your work place have been saying the same things to no avail, because management will not take action until the "right" person says it.

So, after all that, I came to realize that myself and my health were worth more than all these people treating me like crap when I did all the work. It is disheartening and depressing. The culture for the company I work for seems more for the extroverted type and I feel my quietness is looked as an issue and deep problem. I usually have lunch by myself watching past football games on tv in the break room but I feel as though I'm being watched like somethings wrong. I started feeling like every time I got up to go to lunch people would cross paths and give me looks as if they're trying to catch me breaking down. I'm all good but it's like when I get up to go anywhere people in my deparyment or I know through mutual conversation end up being where I go.

It's so frustrating to the core being called out for being the quiet guy. I can't stand when coworkers ask me, "why are you so quiet?" or even worst they blast to others on the side near me where i can hear coworkers in my department saying oh he's so quit or doesn't talk much. Man like seriously why does it even matter at work if I don't converse with my coworkers all of the time if i'm getting my job tasks completed!?. I do like to talk in general about sports or what not but when i'm in my work mode i can't just flip on the social switch like them because i'm naturally an introverted person. I'm content being alone or without taking for extended periods of time. But when it's time to be social or during my lunch then i'm all in for the jokes and convo. It's like they're shame forcing me to become this always talkative guy when deep in my core it does not resonate with me in my core. I even acknowledged that I tend to be more on the quiet side naturally and I still get the weird looks coworkers when I go to lunch like i'm this loner or something wrong, just a lose lose situation at this job. Currently still working at my first full time job but i put in my two weeks last Thursday. Once March start- all the madness ends and a new life starts!

The people I work with bully me constantly and I feel like I can't do anything about it. I made the mistake of going to my boss to get some insight on it and he had a rebuttal to all of my points. I started getting bullied two weeks after I got there. I have high blood pressure now, my head constantly hurts now and I have sharp stomach pain. lynn, i've been a school bus driver for fifteen years now, we were told, (i'm one of the longest employed by the school system), that we had seniority over the other driver's in the bus fleet, that it counts for something. Usually when i ask for a two-runner, I usually get it, but this last year they took my route & gave it to another driver & put me on three routes. I was ok with two routes & i told my lead driver this, but i'm not ok w/three routes, i'm in my sixties now & can't handle the heat like i used to. I could have retired three years ago, but have not. We do have a high turnover of driver's & most of us think it is because they don't value or listen to the veteran driver's to retain them. I have an exceptional driving record. I don't mind driving the two routes & love my job, but the third route is making me dread going to work now & i'm actually thinking of telling them a fib so I don't have to drive the third route, they could have hired other driver's, but they choose to overwork five or six of the veteran driver's. I have spoken to my lead driver about all this & am waiting on a reply. I don't know what to do right now, I'm frustrated & upset because of this, can you help?

In the end, if they are not willing to work with you, the decision rests with you to stay or leave. Good luck.

My last job kept someone who not only broke the law, but would literally throw things at me! It didn't matter that other staff, including other supervisors would see that behavior, they still kept her. It was so bad there with this person that the rest of the staff would be like, ok, all she has left to do here is beat someone up or kill someone because she has done everything else. My current job has lost 3 people in less than 9 months, 4 when you count me because I'm resigning. They have a clique, they set you up, they expect you to do some of the work of other people, they are upset you didn't do something and even though you weren't working that day it was still somehow your responsibility. I can't take crazy anymore.

Worst part of a toxic work environment is when you're stuck in one you can't get out of without flat-out quitting. Like when you're in a major organization where you desperately want to get out of a department but HR/Upper Management won't move you because that department relies so heavily on you and they are all like "Our operations will completely suffer if we don't have you here!"

They roamed the nursing home like they owned it.

How about a supervisor favoring another employee over me and then when that employee quits and I have to take on her duties there are zero thanks? How about that other employee suffering a disappointment and she gets flowers but when my mother died I got nothing? They just tried to hire the supervisor's niece but fortunately HR shot them down over nepotism issues. There seems to be no end to the disrespect and lack of caring towards me at my workplace. The problem is that I work for a government agency and it has taken me 21 years to reach my salary so leaving isn't an option. Oh and about that salary? There is no end of jealousy from fellow workers over how much I'm paid. Unfortunately my salary is public because I work for a Sheriff's Office and it is posted. For some reason workers who have only been here 4 years seem to think they should make what I make, someone who has been here 21 years. It's maddening!

I just retired from a workplace that's very toxic. The manager would be break room playing ping-pong half the day or hitting the female bus drivers for dates. Employees would do the managers work and their work. His supervisor inspected the work and always marks below standards and threat employees with write ups and want more and more out of you out . Little to no vacations are approved no going to community College at this site. I put in my retirement papers in waited two months didn't tell manager and supervisor on the last day told them I'm gone now relived out of toxic work environment.

I read tons of articles about leaving the job if its toxic. I have been on my job for 26 years and in 2 ready to retire. No one ever ; ever talks about the person ready to retire. I d not want to leave my job. It was very toxic 8 years ago. got better -- new boss's creating the same scenario again. I try to keep mymouth shutt and do my work.it'ss hard. But leaving the job is not always the best solution because you could wind up in the same situation again and again. Been there and done that. If you like the people and thebenefitss and you are not a professional like me.it'ss not that easy to give up what you do well just so that the bully gets her way.

As a leader in a corporate company, I am so aware of any toxic signs. Within my own department or within my peers. It is really not an easy task to handle toxic people - extremely sensitive topic and absolutely, can effect our health. I would suggest as well - to find a coach or somebody outside your work to help you deal with it. Thank you for sharing Lynn.

Michaela Smith think the issue is that leadership is not dealing with toxic behaviors and not doing their jobs well. to say to people who are affected by bad environments that they should go get help is total victim blaming. victim blaming id include as sign number 7 of a toxic environment.

He told me to go look for another job quickly bc he had full intent to terminate me as soon as he could build up a file against me. He gave me 20 days to learn a job that took a year to learn. Diano Delih I was shocked myself. I just stood there wondering how this supervisor had no fear in what he was saying. But then I discovered that the USPS has been doing business in this very fashion for years. It is considered the worst employer in the nation due to discrimination, physical altercations, purposefully harming employees with slander and bullying. I know all of this bc I hv taken this case to trial costing me every cent I hv ever saved and through this process I hv learned that the USPS is protected by Congress and other political entities so that no harm becomes them or the supervisors that do all this unAmerican illegalities. Lawyers that represent all of us are made to muddle through years of litigation costing clients up to 100k in retention fees. This done purposely from the USPS so you walk away from the case.
I served my country for 11 years in the Navy, always volunteering for dangerous special missions, and in one mission I injured myself and needed a TKR, thus needing to end my military career. I transferred over to the Post Office to end my Federal service and when they fired me I lost everything. My health benefits, my years in service, even my ability to obtain another Federal job.
At this point I will need to consider Welfare, Food Stamps and NJFAMILY care. Thank you for your prayers. The Lord listens to all of them.

Hello Lynn! Thanks so much for your video. I work in a QC department for a manufacturer and my boss from hell tells me to grade a material good and ship while he is standing there watching me test it and see that it fails quality. He left without grading the material himself and then chewed me out for insubordination. I hate my job. I am the only lab tech there that even works and he doesn't reprimand the others he just keeps piling me with more work. I am so depressed I just want to stay in bed, but I drag myself out of bed, drive two counties away to community college ( I am over 40) because I am trying to finish a degree in Biotechnology and " Get the hell outta dodge"! ) And then I go into this crazy place on second shift. As the only female there on my shift, I have had to put up with a hostile work environment from the male operators, and my second week there I got a severe burn on my hand (which they blamed me for) when the QC lead left me to clean a machine I was unfamiliar with. This place has the worse management I have ever seen. I have been told I should consult a lawyer, but how do I prove my side? And as long as it has been now they probably would tell me I don't even have a case now. The only person I trust in the whole plant is the Administrative Assistant and she doesn't want me to quit, but I'm having chronic migraines ( work is causing some of them) and wide spread joint pain I think because I'm just so depressed. I live in a very rural area and its hard to find a job that pays decent. I don't know where I would go for what I make now, but I'm starting to get desperate. Any advice?

I was discriminated against in the last two years of my career. For all that time, I had to continue working for my boss while my claim worked through the EEOC process. I tried to transfer within the org, but boss refused to release me. So I stayed. For two years, while my boss was being openly hostile to me. Eventually I won my discrimiantion claim at EEOC and got some money for damages. I'd rather my employer hadn't subjected me to illegal discrimination, but the money was all EEOC could give me.
