Merry Christmas Zac, and thank you for your contribution to the Brad Paisley, Dr Z collaboration. I first purchased the Z Wreck and then the DB4 and finally a used Maz 18, all combo amps and I pair one of them, depending on the size of the venue, with my '67 Fender Super Reverb. In my opinion Dr Z makes the best amplifiers in today's new amplifier market.
Great story. What an amazing talent Brad is in such a thoughtful gift he gave you. Especially The nice touch of adding the soda can.

Merry Christmas, Zac.......discovering your videos this year has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise miserable year.
I love the Dr Z story, and it reminded me a little of an amp guy I used to use 20+ years ago. He was very talented at "reviving" old amps, and he kind of specialized in taking old, decrepit amps and re-building them into something great but totally different. He loved to take an old Silvertone Twin Twelve (you know, the Model 1484) and gutting them.....and cloning something like a Tweed Twin or Vibrolux. He often said you may see an artist on stage with a recognizable amp.....but you never knew for sure what the "guts" were in that amp. I have an old Lafayette PA amp head, that is basically a Tweed Deluxe circuit inside. Now, when I see someone using an amp onstage, I don't always assume it's a stock, factory model. Anyway.....best wishes for the new year!!!!!!

Great story. I had a Celestion Gold speaker retrofitted to a Cornell Voyager 20 combo (fitted with 2 x 6V6 tubes), which I used for a few years and once lent to Larry Carlton. I was once telling John Jorgenson about the Gold and that he should check it out, but to my surprise he told me that he actually had quite a lot to do with the design of the Gold speaker - it could even have been a signature speaker but it never happened that way. I understand that John now uses a Celestion Ruby (or four!).
John told me that the sig speaker came to a halt. And I think Weber selling tons of 50-watt alnicos made Celestion restart the project. Too bad John didn't get any credit.

Great story! I actually bought the Prescription ES purely because I was such a BP fan. It was a red 2x12 combo I found at the Nashville Guitar Center. It would shake the freaking walls!!! Incredible amp. I just should have gotten a lower watt house friendly amp. Merry Christmas!

I bought a used Dr Z Prescription ES head years ago...a red one. I ordered a matching red 212 Dr Z cabinet and holy cow - I've never to this day played an amp that sounds as good with single coil pickups. The shop I used to bias & re-tube my amps was trying to buy it from me for that reason. Eventually I sold it for a more manageable Dr Z Maz 18 Jr 112 combo that I still own and enjoy.
They are killer amps!
