Ngl I’ve been trying my absolute hardest to stay motivated in this field while being a father and working in a warehouse with rotating shifts every week. I’m currently doing the google cybersecurity certification everyday in between work and sleeping. You’ve been a huge help through this journey, matter of fact you’ve been the start of it all. Im currently on week 3 of it and I’m not going to lose focus and keep pushing through, thank you 🙏🏾
hey mate, totally understand how challenging and demanding life can be, but time will pass any way, let’s make it count 🤝
I saw your comment on one of the end of course prompts the other day, recognize the icon, keep going at it!
I’m at the beginning to my second attempt, being in an identical situation. Getting back on the horse now because I realised one day, if I kept it up the first time, I’d be nearly done by now. Keep going bro you can do it
We need an update on how things are going for you brother
I finally landed my first cyber security job last week as An Application Security Engineer. Thank you for support, mentorship and advised. God Bless You
super congrats to you my friend, you did it 🎉🎉🎉

I'm grateful for stumbling upon your CZcams channel online; had I not, I wouldn't be where I am today. May the Almighty God continue to shower you with blessings and abundant rewards. I can honestly say that your channel has had a profound impact on my life, and I am a living testament to its positive influence because I still wonder how I got my 6 certifications(SC-200,AZ-104,SC-100,Security+CySA+ and CSAP) in six Months. Thank you once again
Congratulations bro!!! How much of development knowledge is required to secure a role like that ??
@@josephalan31 It depends but the main important thing to to be able to read code , know/understand what the code is doing, and be spot what make code vulnerable. ALthough there are automated tools for performing static analysis but for dynamic analysis you can use software like zap or burp etc.
Thanks for Sharing. One of the best thing I have heard today. Sometimes, the boring reading seems you are not doing anything. But thanks for the motivation
the boring stuff is what makes us win!
On a deeper level, thank you so much for all that you do

Thank you for being a mentor, and giving us a structured path. All of your advices are so helpful, useful, and ideal. I am hoping to finish 2 certificates before I graduate college. Just wanted to say thanks!
You are so welcome 🫡
Will always watch like promote and tell people about this channel. You have helped me so much thank you Unix guy!
Much appreciated 🙏🏻
Sound and practical advise as always. We appreciate all you're doing for us. Stay blessed.

What a great video. Great points and structure suggested for planning out your near future.
Glad you liked it!
You're the best there is! Thanks for this, another edifying video.
My pleasure!
Been following you for a while now, I can sense the huge improvement in your content over time. Kudos, man!
thanks for noticing and thanks for supporting me from the beginning 🤝
Thank you for your information and videos. Discovered your channel at a critical moment in my life. I've been watching you for a month. I am in a similar situation as your student. A/Net/Sec/Project+, SSCP in 8 months and hopefully PenTest+ in next week. All of this to finish an undergrad by the 31st of October. While I have been highly motivated and pushing towards a better future, I too have been fearful of that future. Not knowing the next step, an overload of opinions, and most trying to push their product(influence)/just trying to make money off advice. I know there are others like me - no prior experience, quiet/reserved, and uncertain of what to do next. So thank you for your teaching and advice. I truly appreciate it.
you got this 👏🏻
Excellent no bs video. Thank you!

I've been on Short Term Disability for the past 5 weeks. I know I should have been studying for Security+ but I've never had this much time to myself. During covid, I had to work my retail job, wiping down shopping carts while others were on unemployment. This has felt like a much-needed break after 2020 and college. I needed a video like this to give me another kick in the butt.
you got this 💪🏻
Hope you doing well now!
Really appreciate the clear and concise messages within your content 👌 Would be great to have you recommend or do a video/short on beginner hardware setup or even your own setup

you are in a great spot to transition!
Thanks Man. It really helped me to overcome overthinking
Glad it helped!
hats off to your mentee for being able to pull all those certificates even with a full time job. i only discovered this field last year and have been struggling to find my footing. However, after finding your channel and videos i have a better hold of how to take my shot at this field, thank you!
When there is a will there is a way! Keep up
the good work!
most people who can get passed the rejection phase do end up becoming great engineers. I think that is the hardest part for many. Learning isnt the hard part, the grueling job hunt and becoming competitive enough to get hired can take a toll on you but its definitely worth it.
good points! we all had to go through this, but the good news is that it gets better once you gain more experience and knowledge and progress
Great video, always inspiring me to keep going on this new journey, I think I’m taking a lot on my plate though, going to Devry for undergrad in Cyber security taking Google CS course also plus learning python and Linux from other sources lol

I come from a developing country where not many cybsec jobs are available. I have tried to find cybsec meetings nearby. Couldn't find any. I am doing the google cert. Hoping to get started with the BTL1 soon, as per your reference. After I finish it and get my resume sorted out, I'm planning to apply for various fully remote positions outside my country.
But I am still struggling to find networking opportunities like going to cybsec related meetings and such. A dedicated video for people like me who are looking for remote opportunities will greatly help us get some guidance.
Thank you for existing on youtube though. Great content, fantastic guide. Couldn't love a channel more ❤

How do you handle applying jobs that seem to have a massive (and almost unrealistic) list of required experiences or domain knowledge? It seems like most job postings are structured this way. Would you encourage one to still apply and just show enthusiasm for filling in the gaps? Thank you for your content.

You are the personal mentor I never had. I got laid off 2 months ago and have kicked off my cyber security venture. I came across your channel and your career path and roadmap videos have been the bread and butter of my learning journey. There have been times I've doubted myself and even felt completely burned out. I even asked myself, "How can I compete with these thousands of people who are definitely much more confident and better than me?". Thanks to you, I feel more confident, hopeful, and optimistic that I can definitely do it! Thank you for yet another quality content! Thank you for your inspiration, constant mentorship, and passion for the industry. Once I land my first job in cyber security, I will definitely dedicate it to you and will buy you dinner for your mentorship! 🥰
so happy to hear that, you definitely have the right mindset and attitude to succeed in any venture and in whatever you set your mind to, keep chipping away at your goals every day and you WILL WIN , it’s inevitable.
For someone already doing a Cyber Security Analyst job in a SOC, closing alerts as True/False Positive with commentary, and writing weekly & monthly reports on alerts, what steps are required to move towards a Security Engineer? Learning to install, configure, update software for customers and being able to perform technical presentations I presume? Cheers.
you need to learn that particular ‘software’ that you want to ‘engineer’

What are your thoughts on the new splunk certified cybersecurity analyst certificate ? For some reason I think the regular core or power user would fit better for beginners than show up in an interview pretending you are a certified cybersecurity analyst which in my mind might attract a lot more scrutiny ,does that make sens ?
it is a good introduction to Splunk
Id rather do IT audit or very low level grc related job than helpdesk if I were to look for a feeder role after school or courses/certs

Is it a good idea to get into cloud engineering from EET? Since I am having problems to land a job due my age being in late 30s eventhough I finished my community college 2 years ago while working in some unrelated job in maintaining and calibration electronics. Is there a better fit in IT woth my background or aiming for cloud engineering is fine ?
What is ‘EET’ ?
Updated cloud security path? It needs more Terraform and Linux :)

Hi Sir, hope you are well. Thank you very much using your valuable time to make videos for us. I am currently in my first year of Bachelor of Cyber Security. Hello, I work as a NOC and have 13+ years in technical support, I recently had a "burnout" for the second time in my life, (I'm 37) I have now enrolled in the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, I passed the first course and I aim to complete the program, after that I aimed to start SOC analyst. Will this position not be too heavy considering my recent "burnout"? Any advice, thanks. Great channel.
hey mate, burnout is a very personal thing. People find different things stressful. As far as SOC is concerned, some environments are stressful, others not so much, so it depends!
I recommend the usual coping mechanisms of eating healthy, sleeping, regulat exercise and socialising to help with burnout and consider seeking professional if the issue persist!

Hii unix, I wanna ask u something,Is there any problem to study Google Cybersecurity course from their channel on CZcams if I can't pay 50 dollars per month OR Should I buy their course bcz it is much better than studying the course from CZcams?
its much better to buy it because the most useful part of the course is actually the hands-on labs where you’ll get to practice and put the concepts you learned to test, I elaborated on it in this video:
czcams.com/video/6LIUhx95MCU/video.htmlsi=PvGeL-ywT2dgN9e1
Are certifications the only way to get noticed?
certifications aren’t to be noticed but to give you a structured way to learn a subject. What’s the alternative?
Great video, but If I applied for jobs that wanted a high number of years of experience and professional certificates that I do not have, and I was invited to attend the job interview, what could I respond to them if they asked me why I applied for the job, when you know that we want these certificates or the number of years of experience?
you apply to jobs you *think* you can do or those where u r one or steps away from, not jobs that want 10 x yrs experience for eg :)

As an Australia-based Cyber Security professional, what's your take on the topic of 'Entry level Cyber Security jobs are hard to find'? This also seems to conflict with the fear there'll be tens of thousands of unfulfilled positions in Cyber Security in the coming years in Australia. How do these two ideas co-exist?
Does this mean that Australias Cyber Security industry is just behind in accepting more non-degree/non-experienced workers as well as providing in-work training/mentorship? There seems to be a bottleneck of workers trying to enter an industry that needs more workers, it seems counterintuitive?
not harder or easier than any other field! candidates need to put in the time and effort to try and learn the subject before attempting to get a job. For example, if someone wants to become a nurse, tbey usually study for at least 3 years before they’re even considered (and the degrees costs a lot of money)
with cyber security it can be easier but its not nothing! you’ll need to do certifications and some practical projects and take it from there :) I recommend you start by doing this cert then follow the roadmaps that I provide:
