Underrated? When this song came out, they were on MTV and Music bulletin almost every day/week....Just because It was years ago now, doesn't mean they were underrated. If anything they were damned lucky to make it as big as they did seeing where they came from.

Born in 1990, but spent probably 30% of my life to 13 at my mom’s salon, and of course it was always on easy listening (you know 50% 80s and 50% 90s lol). Out of all the 80s, I think this was probably one of the top 3 along with don’t stop believing and you’re the inspiration. Even those these songs were 80s products, they are so timeless and artistically crafted. Nothing sounds the same as the 80s before or after.
I think it’s because so much of the generations before we’re affected by trying to survive and then the wars. The baby boomer generation was the first with widespread prosperity in the US, and the rise of the counter culture and urban population gave rise to this music of love, heart, and spirit. Or maybe I’m just saying all this because I was an embryo in 1989 🤣
As a kid from the 70’s hearing this track for the first time on the soundtrack of Top Gun in the 80’s will make this song forever magical to me

Weird, all these 80s songs that didn't seem so special to me back in the day now sound better to me with each passing day. I mean I kind of always realized that this wasn't a bad song, but now I really really really love it.

...and I can assure you I was really there.
( Joined the Army straight out of high school in 1980. )( I also pretty much drank at every opportunity throughout the 80's, and 90's, so I have no idea why I remember them so clearly. Just odd, I guess. )

I do miss the music and the women though... Both seem to have lost something these days.

Freakin'' brilliant. No problem duplicating her classic performance. No damn autotune or other godawful digital mess. Saw her doing it again on another video up here in 2015. She still sings and looks outstanding. Seems to still be able to hit every note. Either she is a vampire or has the world's greatest plastic surgeon. Wow. Kudos.. Just amazing delivering one of the greatest songs of the 80s era.
