This was awesome. Please do more of these rundowns with cool bands we actually care about instead of whichever wanker Premier guitar is giving air time to this week.
wow Steve is much more of a gear nerd than i would expect, fucking awesome. can't wait to feel this sonic behemoth here in brazil next december.
Enemy Of The Sun is one of the best albums ever!!!
This is scary nerdy, but it makes perfect sense as to why you never encounter his tone elsewhere. Well done.
Steve is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He’ll talk gear and all kinds of other stuff after gigs. Which is great because he goes into such other worlds on stage. Scott’s rig is pretty much straight in to amp and a channel switcher.
Granted this was all in the early and mid 2000s. Haven’t seen them since around 2010ish
Will there a video of Scott Kelly's rig? I know it's more simplistic but he has changed quite a bit over the years.
we need a steve von till signature. so many signature guitars are so basic now but his gear is so unique that it warrants a signature line
This is one of the more awesome Rig Rundowns I've ever seen. I've been going to see Neurosis since I was in high school, and have always admired their crazy set up. Thanks.
the best tone has dave. his basstone stands out, i would recognize him in a hundreds of bassist and instantly know it is him.
Thank you for this! I've waited years to know their live sound, amazing band.
Neurosis is the best live band ever (although I haven’t seen every band live😉) I’m not exaggerating here 😎
Wow! So glad I found this channel! Great videos by musicians!
This was rad. Thanks for this.
hopefully we'll see more of demovids!
nice job guys really enjoyed this keep it up
Fucking amazing!!! Always loved those jazzcasters!!
I need to see them live!😮
This is great to see, now Nate needs to do a rundown of his Old Man Gloom rig
Awesome
This guy is a good interviewer. There are so many bad ones that people point out so I thought I should say something positive.
I had the exact same Garnet Sessionman in "showbiz white". They are true hand wired point to point on terminal strips, no circuit board.' It sounded amazing and I'm kicking myself for selling it. There was just two on Vancouver Craigslist this week, they pop up frequently around here. Love Neurosis since "Souls at Zero".
Freaken sweet.
Maravilloso
War Horse music for Dragons of Life!!! Wow mind splinters!!!Nothing but Soul!!!
Steve's like: "I can't smile, I need to maintain my image!"
"It's like Harley instead of Honda."
This guys an Elementary School teacher
this is absolutely fucking insane
Fucking rad thank you👍🏼
steve von till.the bernard sumner, geordie walker, syd barrett of metal.textural, tons of dynamics guitarist.
I hope you guys do a bass rig rundown!
+Georgie porgie
Awesome, as soon as your check clears we’ll get on a plane to Oakland.
demovids whoa not being rude asking. Thanks for the vids like everything you dudes do.
I get the Beastmaster reference.
And I will speak to its appropriateness.
Neurosis are tone kings
FUCK YEAH!!!
fuck yeah
is this at hawthorne theater in Portland?
Didn’t Steve used to have a guitar with a full on sustainer pickup before? If I’m misremembering that then it seems like something he’d be into.
Anyone know where I can get one of those bridges he uses to house the p90 with the saddles? Can’t find one anywhere
🤯What library books do I need to read to understand what I just watched?
Does he use noiseless pickups?
There's a recent vid by a 60s blues-rock dude ( w John Mayal among others..) he just used a 70s Boogie Mark IV like that, "if you have a really kickass amp"..just using the hi-gain channel to get cleans or wild drive using the volume on his Strat ( a kickass too, though) . Yes, I know it's an old debate but tried it with a simple rig: cranked Silverface Champ ( or just a drive-dist pedal, home ) and yes, you can dial amazing tones. No pedals. I'm a pedal freak, should have tried before! it is an old art. Old dirty Fenders could be perfect for that, finally I got some. Try it, czcams.com/video/eZLgqbmUibA/video.htmlsi=wUJ__yiOejpYZMff
Feedback on feedback 🥱 so cool
Garnet is great i have an enforcer
Is there a reason to have your pickup selector on your pedalboard instead of on your guitar?
E-Bow: "when you want your guitar to sound like it's whistling."
Does that neck look like it’s a baritone?
Anyone else catch that "Awkward CZcams Channel Host" at the beginning? lol!
0:06.
hard to believe that he is an elementary school teacher, the kids either think he is cool or are very afraid of him... nice guy
What is the model on that Garnet?
@@Andyface79 Thanks! Big help. Really appreciate you positively adding to a conversation that's 2 years old now. Have a super day and keep on being a driving force in the gear community xoxo
Neurosis RIP
9:23 "doing esoteric ambient bullshit"
Steve it’s me your cousin John I’m Matt’s son
"Esoteric, ambient, bullshit." Hahahahahahahahahahahaa....fuckin' Steve!
Strobe warning for that intro graphic...
I wonder what's the deal with that P90-routed bridge.
No, I mean, I wonder where he got those bridge plates because I don't see them often on the market. I like the sound of bridge P90s, and it makes sense in relation to Scott's setup. They complement each other well.
Found a similar plate in an old Reverb listing: reverb.com/item/2168884-gpg-usa-custom-p-90-stainless-steel-bridge-plate-for-fender-tele-telecaster-p90
Such a drag one of my fav guitarists/producers and a person I look up to, became Joaquin Phoenix from " Her "!! Hey, this is hipster bs, when your last name is " Balou " you're supposed to be that adorable character from " The Jungle Book ", but this is just a small price to pay in order to be such a powerful bear
Where the fuck is part two
The sound of Steves voice is like he is choked up and dying inside. He does not sound healthy at all.
I never thought neurosis one of the greatest, most influential, and most artistic bands of all time would be gear heads at all. Awesome.
Well it kinda makes sense considering their sonic creativity and the unique soundscapes they try to create. You need out of the box signal chains and tinkering with gear to achieve that.
