    Wow, I didn't know that "lake" sample came from Sesame Street. So many sources and history just goes unknown in BoC music.

    This is another phenomenal remake from you! I would have never guessed that both the trill and the child’s voice were sampled from Sesame Street (also blowing my mind that the voice is saying “Lake” instead of “Yeah”). Brilliant find!

    SICK!!! My son and I have loved this song since forever! Boards of Canada reminds me of the late 70's / early 80's music that was set to programs such as Science International, based out of Canadian Broadcasting. EXCELLENT WORK!!!

      Thanks! I had a hunch when I first heard the musical parts before the “lake!” In the Sesame Street episode. Was definitely pretty cool to actually find the exact part and recreate it.

    Amazing! I love how you’ve uncovered so many truths: the true art of subtle sampling is maybe the greatest contribution to post 70’s music. And that a band who everyone assumed was so organic and analog have digital components make up they’re greatest sounds (eg, S1000 and AN1X). Thanks so much for bringing some clarity to how these magicians create.

    Wow, I've researched this to the max but only got about half of it right! (which I am still a little smug about!) Just out of interest, what drum samples did you use, they sound really good!

      Thanks! Its just a hodge podge of samples and sounds from a ton of different libraries/sources, along with some recorded household items (such as my keys jangling which is layered with the snare).

    this is like cracking a ridiculously hard code, or puzzle, or encryption. Every other remade I've heard was terrible and sounds nothing like the original. Not fully the same but definitely the closest. I thought it was impossible!

      @@drubber007 the “lake!” sample was documented before as being from that episode. I had a hunch that the “trill” sound was from the same episode and got lucky in finding it.

      @@drubber007 thanks! I was able to start making tracks pretty quickly in Ableton, but definitely took some years to get very comfortable and to be able to create the sounds I wanted. There’s still a lot about the program I don’t know/utilize I’m sure.

    Hey, I notice you only show the processing on one of the piano layers. Could you explain the difference between them, the processing you’re doing on each?

      Hey if I recall they’re pretty much identical but they’re just panned to each side and the track delay might be slightly behind on one to give a chorus like effect

      I believe I used one called “the Giant”. However, I honestly feel like it was the one part that was pretty far from the original. The piano they used on Roygbiv just had a really unique sound to it that I just couldn’t create accurately.

    i think the drum sounds are still a tad off, a bit thacky or thocky where other recordings sound a tad fuller, but still an amazing reproduction bravo.
