😎 I brought two cassettes on my prom in 1986, depeche mode "black celebration" and this one from ABC, blared it full volume at 2am looking for our dates we lost after telling the dad's we will be gentlemen and be home by 1am. Oops. Best times ever.❤😆😎
I was 20 when this came out and it was my favorite album.. I still love the sound!! I'm a musician and sound guy and this has a very expensive sound. Excellent producing, mixing and mastering.
I actually think that this was my next favourite incarnation of ABC after Lexicon. God, the 80s were soooo inventive with their sampling and Fairlight experimentation! Hate how everything now has to fit a genre or demographic to get any airplay etc. Long live good music though - in any shape or form x
I agree but sometimes I wonder it was the right choice for them to doing like this because the price ABC have to pay was too much and very sad to see. For too many and extremely shift the concept and music style on every new albums make them became a 80s band who brave to experiment and bring innovative in their music than Top 80s band who can bring something new to music scene and maintain the success like some other band can do. "Beauty Stab" nearly-ruined them, "Zillionaire" a bit hard to listened and the Eden dildo-belt nearly ruined them again. "Alphabet City" bring them back but the house "UP" ruined them again and the criminally-underrated "Abracadabra" fail which make Mark White retired from music scene (Now he's back but on that time it was the saddest thing to see talent musician like him retired) and Martin was the only one person left.
Such a smart Art driven album... by adding style avatar Eden (Fiona Russell Powell) and NYC club kid David Yarritu as visual aides ABC seamlessly sent up 80's pop culture with easily their best album since Lexicon of Love. The ballads are sensational and the bangers elite club grooves. For me at least, Zillionaire and its follow up Alphabet City are the band's creative peak.
Great track. So many cuts on the album made beautiful tracks for a dj to beat-match/sample/mix and have a great timing wringing adrenaline out of the results.
It's too bad the actual video isn't here. ABC is my favorite 80s band, and second favorite band overall - a place they've held since 1982. This album gets so much disrespect, but the more I think about it, I think I actually like it slightly more than Lexicon of Love. I realize it's sacrilege for an ABC fan to say that, but I've aways been more into dance-oriented beats. That's why I became a DJ in 1982.
I don't think this song ever had a proper video. This was when it was just Martin and Mark with Eden and David "in it for the ride/videos". I'm sure if one existed, it would have been a cartoon with David miming the guitar solo on that wild-looking bass seen in the "Be Near Me" video.
My fav song from my fav album. I wish 1985 was all year round every year!
10 years later: fckn A 💯👍

So
This song takes me straight back to the mid 80s. Music was so exciting. I know I'm sounding like an old person.
No, just a woman of sonic discernment!

Yes..awesome song.
Martin Fry has a class voice and the arrangements are royal -my number 1 brit act
Truly this album is a must have. 1985 was never sweeter!
The 80s _was_ the best of all possible worlds!

Love this song
CSIS flunks another Child Snatch. Yugo crunched, popped then slabbed better, frankly.

Best Laidlaw plans if Spice and Man, eh, CanaFed?
Soul 2 soul ripped this album so much

I too am an ABC fan -- I LOVE The Lexicon of Love AND Beauty Stab -- and I still think Zillionaire might be their best album.

One of my favorites. Its got some real dialogue and description of what we go through in life.
how can you not relate to this.
this is where I find serendipity.
This is what I listen to when I'm cruising in my lamborgini.
I want to test drive a McClaren
My next car will be a McClaren. I just like the name. Also, I heard baby strollers where made by exotic cars. Bugotti being one such stroller

ABC is Rad❤
