      We've recorded another one from the Cobb side going to Asbestos Cottage > Ballon Hut and out. Some of the shots we got during that trip were even better 👌 Will probably be a bit till I edit the video though 😅

    Wow! What a gem of a track! Just wanted to say how much me and my partner love your videos! You’re really doing an amazing job capturing the beauty and diversity of the New Zealand landscapes.
    We’re heading over there in just two weeks for a six week holiday and you’ve helped us tremendously in selecting some really cool hikes! I’ve already spent about 7 months in NZ over three different trips but you’ve helped us dig up tonnes of new tracks and areas to visit!
    And yeah, your composition, photography, editing is just some of the best I’ve seen when it comes to hiking videos! You’re amazing! 🙌🏻👍🏻😀

      @@ChrisandDanya Cheers! Well we have a plan, but it is bound to change according to weather :) I did notice in one of your previous videos that you have a drone. I do as well but am strongly leaning towards leaving it at home. What's your advice? The number of areas where you are permitted to fly is restricted and the permit process for other areas seems overwhelming. We would never want to do something wrong or risk upset anyone. I am afraid that my concern whether we would be OK to fly or not would take away from the experience.
      Oh and may I ask what rough color grading approach you apply? Do you should in log on the GH6 or something else? You really have nailed the landscape colors! ☺

    • @ChrisandDanya
      @ChrisandDanya Před 5 měsíci +1

      @mrstarbuck1 I'd leave the drone at home, I think we flew ours maybe twice in the 2 years we were in NZ. Too many hoops to jump through and even if you are doing the right thing, they really frown upon them unfortunately.
      In regards to shooting, I'll shoot in LOG most of the time. I only switch to a standard colour profile if it's low light or the scene doesn't have much contrast/dynamic range.
      In DaVinci Resolve I'll just correct the exposure to what I think looks right, try and colour correct it if it looks obviously not right or has a colour cast of a certain colour, then I'll bump up the saturation and either increase or decrease the contrast. Nothing technical, I don't really know much about colour work and my workflow is constantly evolving. It already takes long enough as it is 😅

    • @mrstarbuck1
      @mrstarbuck1 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @ChrisandDanya We'll leave it at home then :) Great, thanks for sharing. Yeah it is time consuming as heck! :)

    Hey guys, absolutely loved the vid.
    I had commented on a few other videos of yours as well. I am an orphan who's got scholarship in Auckland university for finance. I'm 21 and from banglore, India. I fell in love with NZ because of your videos. I have a sufficient amount of savings and thinking about moving. What do you think I should do.
    PS- Any advice is appreciated, please take a few seconds to help❤

    • @ChrisandDanya
      @ChrisandDanya Před 5 měsíci

      Hello! We're sorry we haven't responded to any of your other comments, we must have missed them!
      This is a huge choice to make and ultimately something you need to decide on your own. New Zealand is a beautiful country with a lot of opportunities, but it is also extremely expensive at the moment, with an economy that is struggling and trying to recover from the economic hardships of COVID.
      If you've got a paid scholarship, you probably worked really hard to get obtain that, and likely too good of an opportunity to pass up. It's really hard to know what you actually want to do for your career at 21, but the skills/knowledge you would obtain with a degree in finance will help you throughout life regardless if thats what you end up doing with your career. Learning about proper financing and investing at a young age can completely change your life and set you up for success in yours 40s/50s/retirement. The earlier you start investing, the better off you are 30+ years later. You don't necessarily have to go to school to learn this, but it's a strong degree to fall back on if you need too!

    Basically, no wildlife in NZ its dead because of cats domestic and feral they roam anywhere they please it is a boring please to walk

    • @ChrisandDanya
      @ChrisandDanya Před 5 měsíci +3

      There is lots of birdlife in NZ, just not as much as there used to be because of introduced predators like cats, possums, rats and stouts. There's also a very extensive and dedicated trapping program all across NZ that is making a huge difference and has a goal to make New Zealand predator free by 2050. NZ has some of the most stunning and accessible landscapes in the entire world. The amount of hiking/biking trails that criss cross the small country is astonishing and makes it a hikers paradise. New Zealand is anything but boring!

      What a load of rot! We live up in the bush on the Hakarimata hills right next to the Te Aroroa track entrance and the birdlife here is thriving. In our front yard we have tui, kereru, piwakawaka, bellbirds and at night the kiwi congregate in the flax bushes next to our spring. And although they're not native to Aotearoa, there is a flock of Eastern Rosella further up behind our home. Definitely cats have impacted birds and other species, but to say there is NO wild life in NZ is a hugely misleading comment. Clearly you don't walk the tracks because so many of the hikers who camp on our property (we are Trail Angels) describe this country's bush and trails as anything but boring. We are far more concerned with the indiscriminate use of 1080 in Aotearoa and the damage it causes our native birds and animals, than cats, although these predators certainly need control of some kind.
