This one uses 2 Nvme M.2 drives. They are installed on the motherboard. No need for plugging in SATA cables.

What's going into the 3rd slot next to the RAM and does that fan that you screw in after under the CPU come with the MB?
::::edit:::: nevermind, i found out the 3rd slot is for 2 additional m.2 slots in a combined heatsink and the fan is the ROG Memory Kit to cool down the RAM. Pretty neat.

What is the connector next to the RAM modules and what is inserted there? This is the second time I've seen this in a day. At first I thought that for some reason they inserted different RAM modules, but now I took a closer look and I conclude that this is not RAM, but some kind of new slot.

In reality, it doesn't much matter. The floor plate of the NV9 is tilted. It's going to pull plenty of air through the rad.
