- I got up at 6:45am on a Sunday morning to head to Viago Bridge which is along the Lickey incline to see Ian Riley’s Black 5s 44871 and 45407 Lancashire Fusilier on the Great Britain XVI day 2 running From Cheltenham Spa to Lancaster. I arrived at Viago at 7:30 2 hours before they were due past just before it got busy.
The black 5s left Cheltenham at 8:55 and got to Bromsgrove at the bottom of the Incline to begin its climb up the 1 in 37.7 Gradient. When they went past Viago they were going quite fast but the Class 47 at the Back was pushing it.
I filmed 3 angles today. One was filmed by me at the crossing by Viago bridge, my Dad filmed it going the other way towards Birmingham in a gap in the trees and my mate @Tobys_Trains fimed it on the other side of the Crossing.
Great Company from @blackcountrysteamvideos8021 and @LiamsLocos during my 2 hour wait at the incline and it was also Great to see @Tobys_Trains and @crunchynutsteamfilms5043.

Glorious sight and sound. Great video 😊
Thanks Mate.
James, Wonderful captures. Regards, John
Thanks
Awesome video! Great sound from the pair, lovely seeing you again!
You to Toby
Excellent, looks like the 47 was giving it all a bit of a push !
Thanks. The 47 was giving it a massive shove
More than just a push - waste of time in the steam locos even being there.
A great selection of footage there, the Black 5s really gave an impressive show up the 1 in 37. Great stuff, thumbs up given! I believe I was positioned just behind you at Vigo - I was also filming a low-level shot so as not to intrude on anyone else's view, the result of which I'd say worked quite nicely. Please feel free to check out my efforts should you wish to do so.
Kind regard,
Adam 🙂
Thanks Adam. I’ll check out your Video.
Regards James.
What is the story with the Mk3 Carriages they are using now what is wrong with the mk2s
It’s because they lost a law suit about their central locking on the other coaches
@Tobys_Trains how easy was it to access the location where you are? Are you in the field next to Vigo bridge?
There’s a crossing at Viago bridge you go get the crossing to get to the point that Toby was at
@@James_Trains thanks - are there places to park there?
@@PolishThatHandle346 if you get there early enough
@@James_Trains thanks. Are you standing beside a fence here or a public footpath? Looks like it's in the middle of a field so just wanted to be sure I wouldn't be trespassing
@@PolishThatHandle346 I was standing at a gate which has a crossing so you wouldn’t be Trespassing
Fabulous James check out my footage from bowling green lane overbridge
I have

Black Fives do what it says on the tin.
Whats that then? Let a 47 do all the work and just sit there? Could have been 45110 on the front with oily rags
