I aint followin SHIT
Lich King was the best expansion of life...
Alexander Leonidas How ironic.
Wicke Danneh haha xD
Wicke Danneh lol funny guy
rack pulls above the knee bitch
the one everyone was looking forward too, people wanted to fight illidan, but they truly wanted to fight arthas.
Takes me back to a time when I was a lot more carefree about life.
Good old times.
+Glassland exactly, i wish i could look at the world through these magic goggles i was wearing as a child. or rewind time... i get so sad when i think about the years i played WoW, i miss it so much
Yea i feel the same way
@@Magani79 Small dose of weed brings back the magic goggles, then you have to figure out a way to keep them on without it.
Takes me back to a time when I was a lot more depressed... fortunately I'm feeling much better these days.
I miss the days when I could play as long as my body could. Now I must face too many responsabilities...
haha i know exactly what you mean , i used to get up at 7am and play until 2am. i miss the old feeling wow used to give
Most of us can relate so much to this. Started when I was 13. Now I'm on my way to 26. What a journey it has been.
So much this. I was 14 when I started (during BC) and now I'm 23. Time sure does fly by fast!
as someone who started playing at 14 ( now 25) i can relate to this....
Don't do school kids, Stay in drugs
I remember taking the first boat ride to this starting area..seeing the two ships on fire above me…everyone with me on the boat were all in awe at what we were seeing for the first time.
It was around 2am after getting home from the midnight launch… I was still wide awake.
No game will ever match what WoW did for me.
This.
i read everything you wrote in a cartman voice...
fuck yeah dude I had like such a thrilled experience riding the boat and going to this zone going through the canyons the excitement and impatiens was unbearable lol and then when the boat pulled up and everyone lagged and fell in the water and the sharks killed us lol that was like the best
Perhaps I was there with you. It was glorious
Can't believe it's been almost 10 years. I remember going to the midnight launch with my stepfather, when we arrived at home, we installed the game ASAP and kept exploring the fjord till 7 in the morning, both playing a paladin back then. When my mom realized that we were playing the whole night, she just shook her head and rolled her eyes XD
I miss the days of care free little responsibilities, playing with my dog next to my feet, miss you Zak
RIP to all the old wow souls who have come and passed through this beautiful land.
If you want to know, the main instrument is the Uilleann Pipes, characteristic of Ireland.
Came down here hoping someone answered this, thanks!
You're welcome!
Fantastic sound. Only beaten by the Swedish nickelharper from Grizzly Hills.
It's the main instrument of Grizzly Hills music as well.
Nah, Grizzly hills uses mainly a Swedish instrument called ''keyharp''.
This is probably one of my favorite soundtracks in any game of any expansion of any platform. Call me a sap but I put this onto my ipod and take it with me when I go hiking. I find my favorite spot in the middle of the woods, just off the trail, and I sit down, cross my legs, close my eyes, and just listen. It brings tears to my eyes every time and I swear nothing can relax me as much as doing this does. I feel as if I have melded to be part of the beauty of nature and am at peace for just this short moment outside the chaos of life.
No one will call you a sap for that dude....this music is awesome. Emotional and inspiring
I feel that way sitting in this chair but that is awesome. Embrace it, don't be ashamed or embarrassed. You're more refined than most people ever will be just for that brief moment of contemplation.
Slam-ING?!
I get goosebumps hearing it ^^
Totally with you there, understand completely
It's been 5 years since playing and still having very vivid flashes of memories, very emotional and super realistic. Feels like memories from heaven.
I know exactly what you mean.
That hit home..
Yes.
Almost 14 years now, and I believe I had the same intense flashes of memory. Jesus, time flies. ♥️
@@decal4707 it sure does 😢
wish i could wipe my wow memory and experience WOTLK again......as it was day1
man day one was lag city hahaha. i remember borean tundra and everyone tryin to kill the damn flying spider things
I remember trying to enter the Dungeons with the Group I made but it was full and we could not enter haha
that was the fun and beauty of it!
Wish I could start from
Day 1 after WC3.
Day 1, you say? You mean having the boat bug out and spawn into a tree?
Best zone in the game without a doubt. The fact that they made the whole reveal trailer cinematic within this zone is a testament to how multifaceted it is. And then going there on launch day to see it for yourself? Nothing compares. (Unless you're one of those heretics who went to Borean Tundra first instead)
+kirbymaster5 I wish i went to howling fjord first! Went to Borean Tundra and wasnt as fun!
+IrishZimz I Went to Howling Fjord first, just beacuse "everyone" went to Borean Tundra at launch day and I didn't wanna do like everyone else.
+Wowmusicable same here! I checked borean Tundra after I completed the zone - I was disappointed
+kirbymaster5 best believe i was logged out in Menethil Harbor.
Howling fjord was the obvious choice to go into Wotlk with.
I went to howling fjord first because I had no idea you can get from two sides into northrend. Which doesn't change fact that with that place and Kamagua village I fell in love, while when I checked Borean Tundra I had a feeling this area is unfinished (and loads of alliance kids were running around attacking everything red for no reason)
Alliance side. First time visiting the Howling Fjord. Going through the cliffs. As soon as it opened up into the bay, the part at 0:04 kicked in. One of my fondest WoW memories.
Katherine Henry same here, most of my greatest wow memories came in wrath.
Same here. That first boat ride was something I will never forget. One of my favourite gaming moments ever. And this music I have been listening to since then and will forever.
That is exactly the moment when I fell in love with this game.
Anyone else got shivers?
Yes!!
Yes, me! All time favourite zone of the game :)
Hell yea...
Yep... so much nostalgia.
Koko kropassa, jäbä. Koko kropassa.
Still playing....as of this post, almost nine years. Howling Fjord is STILL my favorite zone in the entire game.
+Danny Meeker by far
+Danny Meeker What about Grizzly Hills man, that was awesome too..
I feel you dude, same here.
Howling Fjord and Stranglethorn Vale. I also always liked Zangarmarsh (spelling?) in Outland, it was different.
My absolute favourite was my first time through Vashj'ir. But you only get that once. Same with the death knight zone. After that one time each, it's howling fjord.
Ahhh Northrend......I miss you
Wrath had the best soundtrack imo, followed closely by Vanilla
Vanilla had AT MOST a few good tracks. Most of them are bland and forgettable synthesizer garbage. Every expansion has gotten progressively better music, fully orchestrated. WoW expansions have some of the best music I've heard in a video game.
I love MoP music. Wotlk beats it, but i really like the asian themed tracks. Vanilla had very few tracks which were actualy good.
People don't like the Vanilla score? I think it's amazing, even though it's synthesized
***** I like it too, but i feel that the soundtrack of the following expansions are better by far.
welcome2havoc wrath had best zones. Cata had best music
God, I wish I could go back in time to play WOTLK again. So many good times...
Well there's always the provate servers...
WotLK home to probably the best soundtrack of any expansion!
I loved playing as both Horde and Alliance, but arriving in Daggercap Bay on the Alliance side, the same place Arthas landed when he pursued Mal'Ganis in Warcraft 3, was pure ecstasy.
The lack of a cut-scene, like the ones used in every expansion after, made for a much more personal experience. It didn't force any "epic" narrative, it just was.
God dammit Wrath was so good. Everytime I hear Wrath music or watch a video about it nostalgia hits me so damn hard.
it was a great time to be playing WoW it was when it was at its peak
The music in Wrath was on the next fucking level.
5:00
Amazing how sound can conjure up so many memories. So many pieces of music in this game bring up such great memories my wife and I had together with this game. Listing to this takes me back 11 years to the holidays of 2008. I was a young professional at the time, and looking back now things seemed so much simpler. Going to the store together to buy our two copies of the expansion. Rushing home to get it installed. Taking time off work for Thanksgiving and Christmas just to have the holidays, and play together. Bundling up in the cold weather, but still going out on iced coffee runs for the caffeine boost. Staying up until way too late hours in the morning. Just playing together, enjoying the quests, enjoying the leveling, taking it slow.
Those are memories I wouldn't trade for anything, ever. Wife and I met in WoW. Even though we've moved on to other games, I will always remember these times. I won't go back to WoW again, not even for Classic. But it will always have a place in my heart.
BC and WoTLK were the best expansions.
Yes
When i hear this i think of my ancestors mythology, all the great names. Þrymr, Thrymr, the Giant of Vermland, Mjollnir, Odin, Heimdall, jotnar. Thor, Loki, Jötunheimr. The Nornor sisters Verdandi, Skuld, Urd.
And our Northern landscape is something to really be admired, the cold dark winters have their beauty. Such great history and mythology, Really inspiring and great, something to be proud of.
MEN SEN BLIR DET MINDRE KUL NÄR SKATTEN KOMMER
Riding on the boat, through the cliffs to this music during my first visit to Howling Fjord is a moment I will never forget. Thank you Wrath.
I'll always remember my time spent in the Fjord. I would waste so many hours here just listening to the soundtrack.
Me too. Best memories are of this zone, love it best of all.
Video game music always takes me back and gives a large dose of nostalgia and melancholy...
Sometimes all we have today is nostalgia 🙂🌈
I leveled my first capped toon in wrath (never past 70 in TBC). This zone, and its music, has got be top 3 in WoW. amazing...
Beautiful piece of artwork
For some unknown reason... this music calms me and it always will.
+Alex Nightshade it makes me feel angsty
jared _ Why?
celtic musics scales skip some notes that gives it a unfinished or melancholy sound
+Alex Nightshade same for me - this music was always unbelievably relaxing when I went to Howling Fjord in Wrath
i remember hitting 70, a week later WOTLK was released...went right back to leveling :P i miss it more than anything though. they were the best gaming experiences of my life. i tried playing a private server recently but it just wasnt the same..i miss the friends i had, the sleepless nights and trying to go to school the next day, my guild, my grandparents even played back in wrath, there were just so many small things back then that made wow so special, it felt infinite. there was so much magic and wonder..now today its all about the money. not about the game so much anymore :( RIP pre cata wow....
Yes pre cata was the stuff of legends..let's be happy we witnessed it and take solace in that.
How the hell can you dislike this? One of the best zones and awesome music! Getting shivers everytime I watch this!
theogge maybe someone disliked it because they were mad about what this game has become... Warlords of Command Tables
Jackie Sarsfield Ye, I guess that's why.. Damn I miss the old days of World of Warcraft..
theogge Haters gonna dislike...
SWErvy FINgers Indeed.
Jackie Sarsfield LOL
*sigh* this reminds of the good times of wow
I miss them so much...so, so much
come to a fucking pserver then
one of the best and most original tracks in WoW
It's so incredible to take the ship to the howling fjords, hearing this music and getting chills all over... Leveling through howling fjords, fighting through the wilderness of the grizzly hills and then fighting drakuru in zul'drak... That journey will always be one worth remembering.
These are some of all the reasons that Wotlk is the best expansion ever.
Levelled every char here, loved the area. One time I went with one to the tundra and after a few quests walked all the way along the coast back to the fjord.
Strange that music can make you miss a game.
The best expansion to any game ever. I loved the theme, the zone, the mobs, the mounts (time lost protodrake, still don't have it). I quit playing a long time ago because life. I miss the times when I could just play day and night without a worry in the world. Sadly those times are long gone. I still get an urge to buy a monthly game-time just to casually stroll around but I just can't. I know that WoW will suck me in and I got a lot to lose now. WotLK has it's place in my heart forever.
aahhh the blue proto drake hunting music
Rarity status: Unlucky. fml
Man.... the chills i get from this soundtrack.
Howling fjord just came up in my mind tho i even no longer playing wow and i had to listen to the music here once again.
Sometimes when i played and was bored i could go to howling to just sit and watch the sky while the music is being played.
"That's the very few times i actually use InGame sound at all"
Dude I've done the same thing. Everyone would be off leveling or doing end game content and I'd just be there content to sit in Howling Fjord, absorbing the nature of the place with its music. One of my favorite places in Azeroth.
+Aimscoes about the only time I ever used in game music or even sound was in howling fjord and grizzly hills. After I got out of those zones it went off again.
Wotlk best expansion hands down, saying this 7 years later, makes me cry thinking bout it, RIP Reckful
Those first 3 minutes, pure magic. Rest is great too.
Quit wow forever ago, but just played GoWR and there was something that reminded me of this.
This music gives off a viking feel to the game......it shows the blood, sweat, and soul of the land. This is not just a piece of sound or racket,it is a sound of labor and work,a masterpiece of fine music to the game.I understand what the fjord is through this piece. And I thank whoever made this piece.
I remember these times....almost made me cry...don't know why....WoW is gone for me, for about 1 year....but i played it at the beginning WoW Vanilla till i quit last year....some of these moments....i was levelling with a good friend till we hit 80....when i made a break i was going to the Howling Fjord and enjoyed this music....
So many good memories from a simple soundtrack from a game I used to love. Which has now been lost....RIP wow RIP!
man... i couldve sworn that it was just yesterday when i was lvling my undead death knight to this music. time goes by too fast :(
I know that feel. Good times :/
I love the quests in this place, the stories were AWESOME. There were plenty of side quests, like helping that varg in the cave, exploring the iron dwarves, frost nymphs, the Vyrkul fort and catacombs...
I seriously treasure those years i got to enjoy this, never forget
at 05:47 those short flute sounds, just tears me up how beautiful it is.
That's real music. Love it so much. When I listen to it I imagine slightly strong but at the same time soft wind going trough my body in early morning, when all nature is waking up from nights slumber...agh.. :)
Lovely comment, agree completely.
Best part of Azeroth
Wow the nostalgia this music brings is crazy. I loved playing back in the day and there were more land mounts then flying mounts. it made the game feel bigger and harder to explore
Tell me about it. I remember first arriving in Howling Fjord when WotLK came out, looking at the map of Northrend, seeing Icecrown in the top corner and thinking to myself, "how the hell am I going to get over there?" Currently levelling a character through there now, but with a flying mount it just doesn't seem so big. Pandaria was great though, exact same feeling: arriving in Jade Forest, looking at the map and thinking, "how the hell do I reach Dread Wastes?"
Howling Fjord absolutely blew me away when I first stepped off the boat. The ship takes under a burning wreck of a ship, and the second you step off, there's Vrykul attacking. I love everything about WotLK, the music and zones were beautiful, the new enemies were cool, and the Lich King and the merciless and tireless Scourge actually felt like an insidious and truly evil threat.
The first time I heard this music, I was only my second or third year into college. We knew the floating city Dalaran as "Lag-aran," and I remember getting kicked out of a raiding guild since I wanted to study for finals.
It's probably a decade later since then. I'm cooking up some pasta sauce that'll be ready in 20 minutes, so I put this on to listen to in the mean time. Ten hour shift at the pharmacy tomorrow, and I'm traveling to an off-site vaccination clinic the next day to help vaccinate the elders.
The music makes me smile all the same ten years later and in these times. Thank you for the post.
I can't think of any music from any game ever that has left as much of an impact on me as Howling Fjord's. Songs come and go, I haven't played WoW in years, but I can never forget this music.
best thing to ever happen to me, starting wotlk in the howling fjord.
Listening to this brings me to tears. I would play this with my older brother after highschool without a damn worry. Life was good. Wow was our happy place and looking back on it now we were living it. He's older now with a family , but I bet if he heard this he would go into nostalgic shock. How times have passed.
tears man.. sooo long ago so many memories i stil visit this place sometimes sit on top of one of the buildings just rememberin those old days
Best Zone and Music in History of WoW for ever! I love the Style of this Zone.
3:05 (just for personal reference)
I remember in 2005 i got into wow, i was one year into my job at a fast food chain .. 21 and very impressionable .. that feeling of being absolved and immersed fully into that world .. took my breath away .. i was the slowest leveller in my clan never got to max level "authentically" but the whole time i had fun i miss that feeling of exploring new lands ... and blizzard caring about the consumer base ... Bring On Wow Classic Vanilla , Bc and WOLTK Realms!
ah those days... logging into wow during wotlk and let the endless adventures and chill flow over me...
This brings me back to the mountains... wow
So glad I left Borean after halfway through 70 to move here. This was the greatest leveling zone in the game, better IMO than Grizzly Hills
The first few bars of this tune kicked my right in the chest. It's been 7 years, god I miss this.
I was a massive WoW junkie for about 3 years back at the height of WotLK, and the Howling Fjord music always had me in awe.
even though i haven't played WoW in years, the soundtrack never gets old for me. i wish it was f2p... i just wanna chill once in a while in nagrand and other areas again ^^
You're 12 years old, not a single worry in the world and the only thing occupying your mind is your friends and WoW. You come home from school, take a plate of what your mom just cooked for you, turn on your PC, put on your headset, hear this and get transported to another world
Aliens may be more advanced than us, and have probably experienced more of what the universe has to offer. But, they will never experience the emotions of a human playing and exploring the World of Warcraft at its prime.
I remember riding the ship to Northrend through that channel that opens up into Valgarde's bay. As soon as we got around that bend before it opens up into the bay, those pipes kicked in. That was the first time I ever gaped at a video game. The sheer epicness of the music, the boat ride through that channel and the beauty of the fjord.
At times i would just log in go to howling fjord camp relax and close my eyes most best place ever
WOTLK Classic waiting room
You never really appreciate WoW as much till you fully listen and enjoy the music. It definitely added to the content, especially if you were playing with head phones! My favorite zone of music.
0:00-1:42
My favorite part by far. It just brings a smile to my face every time I hear it. I once got so angry a I grabbed a knife. My computer just happened to have WoW open, and this part blasted into my ears. I took a deep breath, got back to my computer, and kept my leveling going.
During Cata, I refused to run dungeons just so I could experience this song all my time in Howling Fjord. I've never used the codes for listening to music until someone had told me about it, and I tell you what.
Tirisfal sounds a lot better with this music playing.
The best years in life are the wasted ones
People asking me why I like wow more than real life. This is the main reason. Has more beautiful places than irl
You need to get out more if you really think that.
For one, pretty much everywhere in WoW is based off of a real place or environment on earth. Especially Howling Fjord. *cough* Norway
Jason Zayd Not everyone can afford to travel.
Jason Zayd Grizzly hills is like my backyard and I live in michigan
Jason Zayd Yeah ESPECIALLY Hellfire Peninsula, Silithus, Netherstorm, Eversong Woods, Eastern Plaguelands or Icecrown. "pretty much everywhere in WoW" - you mean like a few zones that are copied from real life? Like Storm Peaks or Tanaris.
Jason Zayd *but you don't have to learn norwegian to go to howling fjord*
This is the only way I get work done in the office. Guess I'm used to ambient music playing during my menial tasks. Every Northrend area is just delightful to hear.
I wish the whole game looked like the Fjord. It's so goddamn beautiful, and the music is incredible. I wish I could just go there irl and just sit in a little cabin until I die.
After WotLK underrated and forgotten zone, but it will have always honorable place in my heart. The same like all Northrend, when I play cata, I feel very sad when I see this wonderful continent forsaken :(
Me too :\
I liked the times when Azeroth only had 3 continents...
I like the times when it only had 2...
I LIKED IT BETTER WHEN IT WAS ONLY ONE
FUCK YOU AZSHARA
+Apoc2K I laughed so hard, haha. thank you.
+Apoc2K I laughed so hard, haha. thank you.
me too bro
I am Canadian but I wish so much I was scandinavian. The cold, the huge evergreen trees, the snow, the mountains, the language/names, etc all just connect with me so much.
that pipe rif at the beginning just pulls the strings of my heart
i miss playing ... i miss northerend!!!
some people should know that playing a game like these isent about being on the top.. but going there
I so agree!
The people that mindlessly rushed through the content are the losers eventually
Thank you Blizzard for delivering this world of music and magic to my life.
I'll never forget how I got there the first time with my orcish Warlock. I was amazed, just like I was with the Legion trailer. Back then, I felt like there is a new continent to explore...good old Northrend... :')
Borean is the better choice when it come to gear though, that blue from warsong is beast. And dont mention the leather farming, the rhinos are awesome for that
Best Artic Fur farm :D :D
My friends IRL stopped playing at around lvl 52-62. I couldn't let go of the adventure. Guild leader would try to get people together to do fun stuff but no one could ever really sync up to do those things. It was me, my Lock, and Howling Fjord. Just questing......wandering. Never really got any good gear for her because I would just get kicked when I did dungeon finder because I wasn't the dps monster the pug wanted me to be. R.I.P. Tymmaria.....until I revive you in another game.....rest.
The part that begins after 3 minutes.
That part just left a big impression on me, I don't know why.
That first song takes a toll on whatever's left. It's so sad yet it still puts a smile on my face to this day.
This is reminiscent of the glory that was Morrowind.
I love that kind of music!!!
I remember getting home from work at around 11pm one day and logging into wow and just sitting on top of a hill taking in the environment and listing to this music it was as if all my problems were taken away and i escaped to this world
..first time I went to this zone as a freshly drafted Forsaken in a new expansion..first character ever also..you just cannot forget the feeling you get fro, this, no matter what ppl say...this just sticks with you, like Grizzly Hills and the memories you make around the way..I will never forget this zone or Grizzly Hills due to this amazing song! I will always be Forsaken! I will always be Horde! Warcraft is an amazing world!! I loved my time in it...every second! Enjoy yours!!!
As far as I know, it is played on uileann pipes. With that instrument, you can recall the pain of a whole world. Check Seamus Ennis.
Fuck Pandaria, Fuck Draenor, Fuck Legion... Wotlk forever in my heart
Pandaria > Draenor + Cataclysm
+Brother Muhammad lol
+Mi Chal BC is best but WotLK was quite good
You know Howling Fjord music will return in legion especially in Stormheim look up the music for it, its really good
I hope so. Blizzard always does good music
Howling Fjord is so beautiful! The northern lights, the icebergs, the rolling landscape, the MUSIC! I have a screenshot from Howling Fjord / Grizzly Hills border at night, and it is so outstandingly beautiful with the lights, the moon and the trees
i tested so many mmorpgs in the last years but everytime i hear this music i get goosebumps everywhere and wet eyes and then i come back home. ♥
wrath of the lich king is the best game ever created.
I NEED WotLK classic. TBC is ok but doesn’t have any QoL updates I enjoyed. Wrath introduced so many things that made the game amazing. At least for me. This music for starters.
Howling Fjords in Wotlk.... Stormheim in Legion, yeah!
I remember when I first went to Northrend, I started leveling in Borean Tundra. I checked my guild and saw one of my guild mates who was the same level, although he was leveling in Howling Fjord instead. For some reason I had the urge to go there instead, maybe because the name sounded much more appealing. I didn't regret it.
