We use to call them bluegill. Did most of my fishing around the Fredericksburg ferry. lots of deep water. Got a cabin there. That river is beautiful in the fall.
I’ve heard them called bluegill Shell crackers and of course beats Stealer’s. Not sure that I’ve ever been to Fredericksburg ferry. I bet the cabin is a beautiful place in the fall.
I’ve fished that river. With the Brigade XO when I was Bde Cdr. He had a flat bottomed boat. One time I got hooked on my thumb while removing treble hook. Sammy used ice from beer cooler and a small pliers to remove it. Ice numbed my thumb and beer helped the pain. He was a pro. Started wearing a glove on my right hand after that incident.
I was by myself and had to push the hook through and smash the barb to get it out, man was that painful. Thanks for your comment at lest I know someone is watching.
"Left my paddle at home". I've something like that before. Left our shotguns and home on a quail hunting trip. We got out to the fields and were like, "CRAP"!!!
Yes we're both fully recovered in fact today we're down in San Antonio Texas and we both bought nude bicycles. Summer such a hard month to get out and photograph but I hope to get into a rhythm of posting more photography videos

That's a pretty stretch of water. Is it above Hazelgreen? It looks quite a bit skinnier than where I usually go downstream from Riddle bridge.
