Waterways Ireland is not fit for purpose. We have been fighting for the past year against their proposal byelaws for the Grand, Royal and Barrow and a second set for the Shannon. These byelaws will see an increase of over 2000% on liveaboards, with no provisions, just a pure increase fee and will make some people homeless. Our community went over and beyond to buy a boat to live on, without being a burden to the State, yet we will be penalized if Minister O'Brien signs these byelaws. Since June last year, Waterways Ireland has been in front of the Housing Committee 3 times (27/09/23 - 31/01/2024 and 09/07/2024) : they are still pushing ahead with their plan which will include restrictions on the towpath not only for liveaboards, but also for anyone walking and cycling. They do not want boats or immigrant or anything that, they are a disgrace . Please check irboa.ie for more info.

I just so hate those barricades. My cousins from the UK thought they were dreadful. They also could not get over the state of Grafton Street and well no words for O'Connell Street. It reminded them of Blackburn in UK where they used live. Have moved to a beautiful part of Suffolk.

Bob Geldof did LIVE AID for African people. Its now time for HOME AID for the Irish people. Lets not involve politics, just do it because its the compassionate, and right thing to do, and celebrities are in the privilidged position of being well off and in the public eye.
