It's sad that Darvish's career was damaged a little by the Astros cheating. Pitch-catcher should develop new ways to signal the pitch, especially for Darvish with so many different pitches. First and third base coaches can signal batter and runner in the open without tipping off the opposing team.
One possible way is to remember a number sequence like a date 12-25 (Christmas). For each pitch, many signs are sent but only 1 is real. In this example, first pitch the first sign is real, 2nd pitch the 2nd sign is real, 3rd pitch 2nd sign is real, 4th pitch 5th sign is real (1-2-2-5) then repeat 1-2-2-5. A new sequence can be used for every batter making it difficult for the opposing team to decode even with electronics.
Another way to use the number sequence is to number the pitch type and add. For example, 1=fast ball, 2=splitter, 3=change up. For the number sequence 1225, first pitch you add 1 so if fast ball (1) is signed, add 1 then become splitter (2). The 2nd pitch is 2 so add 2 to the signed pitch, 3rd pitch add 2, 4th pitch add 5, and repeat. If the sum goes above 3 or whatever is the highest pitch number, roll around to pitch 1.
