Saw this band live on this tour in Chicago. Dark Angel opened. THIS was the underground thtash/death metal scene in the mid 80's. This EP was their best effort.
Nothing ever matches "Seven Churches" nothing ever. But this is a great effort yes as is "Beyond The Gates" and as are the demotapes from 1991 and 1993. After that disgrace began and culminates in 2019. Fuck that shit of now! I stick to these three records forevermore! BTW could someone finally upload the FULL 1993 demo with the re-recorded version of "The Exorcist" on it?
I had this on vinyl which played at 45 rpm. I played it at 33 rpm for couple of days before I realised I was playing it at the wrong speed. sounded great which ever speed I played it.
Went through the same thing with Metallica's Creeping Death ep. Supposed to be played at 45 but was on 33 for weeks. Took a while to get used to the right speed.
I used always turn my speed metal EPs into doom metal. Got the idea when we were hanging out in a Christian bookstore. They had Walkmans on the wall so you could listen to the tapes before you bought them. I went to check out one of the Christian metal bands, and I I was like, "Woah check this out! It's like doom metal!" My friends were like damn that's bad ads, then we realized the batteries were dying in the tape player.
i like 'seven churches',their debut album....the 2nd 'beyond the gates' is awesome....but this EP it's simply special. Fast,hard and much more mature (specially the lyrics)

Yeah, at some point a documentary about Satriani is needed and long overdue. The man has tutored too many iconic guitarists and made too much music to go unnoticed by audiophiles. Most underrated guitar player, imho.

esse ep (mini album) é excelente assim como o album beyond the gates eo classico seven churche,tinha o beyond the gates em vinil em 90 ou 91. na época era barato o preço,pois era nacional pelo selo woodstock world wide bons tempos aqueles hoje o vinil e muito caro pois é importado.
if only they released this before beyond the gates, the critics wouldnt have shit on them the way they did(undeserved in my opinion not a bad album) and their reputation would never have been tarnished and maybe they could have become somewhat as popular as Death
But only without Jeff. He was the reason they split up. This guy is so full of himself and such a drama queen as unpredented. The band is Mike Torrao and without Torrao it is like King's Repentless --- useless.

Joe was Larry Lalonde's(the guitarist) guitar teacher. Larry eventually moved on to Blind Illusion and then Primus.
