    We had from Crested Butte, CO up through some of Colorado's oldest Ghost towns to The Deadliest Pass in all of Colorado.
    Schofield Pass Claims on average 17 lives each year and we had to see what this trail was all about. Rather than taking our 300's we decided to take our heavy bikes and make it as hard as possible

    Most epic ride of my life, 1977 on Yamaha DT 175 two stroke from Crested Butte to Redstone thru Schofield
    Pass with my dad, i was 14 years old. Degree of difficulty was much higher back then. Plan to do it again with my 2 nephews who I race motocross with. I am now 59 and will attempt the ride on my new KTM
    390 Adventure, can't wait!

    Great ride - sorry to hear about the flat! Had a similar experience (freak slice) in very rural western NC on a rather desolate forest service road. Random guy was rolling past on a Yamaha Zuma 125. Gave me a 30m ride to town where we purchased tire plugs and a bicycle pump, then gave me a lift back to my motorcycle. Serious generosity! Patched it up enough to limp it down to a wonderful valley where I sat next to a lake under the shade of a beautiful tree and watched a nice lazy fall afternoon pass while waiting for a friend to drive up with a trailer to fetch me.

    This video (unknowingly) has made my dilemma on the choice of bikes (for a lighter one than my Africa Twin)
    The 790 adv seemed the ideal with its lighter weight, lower CG and 2 cyl (smoother) power but watching the 390 adv with a pillion fly over that rough terrain, at altitude, hmmm 🤔 and the 390’s even lighter yet!

    • @EverySingleSunday
      @EverySingleSunday  Před 2 lety

      The 390 is find for 1-2nd gear trails but the suspension is not willing to handle anything fast at all
      The 790/890 checks all the boxes for what I want. It can do it all with the right rider
      The 790 feels closer to a 500 than it does to a AT. The AT is a big hike to take off-road

    Looks like you figured out why those street tires were a bad idea. Had that happened at the peak of the pass, you'd be blocking a lot of traffic and making a huge snarl in those tight sections at a minimum. If not creating a dangerous situation for both yourself and the people who had to come rescue you. Just because you "can" do something doesn't mean you should.
