    One of the most underrated Les Paul copies ever made.

    I still have mine! just had it re-fretted. Still has original pick ups as well. like an idiot, I took the head stock off, bridge and knobs off to protect them while I was in transit. Guess what? I forgot where I safely put them away...sic. I have not plugged it in for over thirty years but I am about too...here goes....wow! takes me right back to 1970 as a 14 year old.

    I had one of these in 1972. I was around 16 yrs old and my dad saw it in a second hand shop on The Old Kent Rd, London , and paid 30 pds for it. Came in a nice case.
    I traded it in for a Fender Strat two yrs later. Still have the Strat. I think the Blues guitarist Earl Hooker used one of these as well as another Japanese Les Paul Custom by Univox. The Univox was similar. Rose -Morris marketed this instrument in the UK.

    Thanks Malko!
    Memory lane this for me..
    I had one in the 70's. My first electric.
    Man, I wish I still had it..
    Defo had (very worn) gold plated hardware, so that tailpiece on yours could very well be the original mate.

    I have an earlier model possibly early seventies . The first decent Guitar I owned bought by my Dear departed Dad . Gold plated Fittings . I swear that it's the sweetest sounding guitar I have ever owned, including two Gibson Les Pauls . I only stopped using it because for some reason it would not stay in tune . 40 years old I guess may be bit older .

      tuning probs are normally something to do with the nut - it maybe is just old and gone sticky or something - deffo fixable!

    I got a 1970 harmony les Paul. It's got a beautiful tone they are Korean but bloody nice. . Epiphone les Paul standard are excellent too got one of those and a sg400 and an sg310. The harmony les Paul certainly competes with them in sound and tone . . If you get a chance to get hold of a 70s harmony les Paul. I heartily recommend them .

    Shaftsbury Avenue and the surrounding are, ie Denmark street AKA "Tin Pan Alley" in London USED to be home to many many guitar shops in the old days, the biggest and best known was the Rose Morris shop. These guitars were seriously good guitars, I bet it weighed a ton :) I still have a EROS, but it needs all the wiring sorted, not my forte :(

      The Rose Morris guitars were excellent back in the early/mid 70's. I had the black Avon LP copy and my mate had the Eros sunburst, wish I still had mine, great guitar.

    I have just bought one of these, I got it with what looks to be the original case. I also own two Gibson Les Paul studio's. I plugged mine in not expecting too much, but I was shocked and really impressed! In fact I couldn't put it down. It needs a few bits sorting. Any idea what stock pickups were in them? I can't find anything but the pickups that are in mine look to be original. A lot of people on forums say that they were single coil put in a humbucker casing. Trust me, I know by the full heavy sound that they ain't single coil as it has a real gibsonesque growl to it's tone.

    • @MADMALKO
      @MADMALKO  Před 3 lety +1

      im not sure - this one had buckers in it, most likely gotoh as most good 70s/80s japanese hardware was made by them

    • @johnparkin8394
      @johnparkin8394 Před 3 lety

      @@MADMALKO mine has humbuckers in too but they look like the original. A lot of people say that the Avon's had what looked like humbuckers but were actually single coils in humbucker casings. But I believe Shaftesbury were slightly better

      @@johnparkin8394 i think it depends what year its from - avon/shaftesbury likely sourced guitars from several japanese factorys - also they may have had different levels -ie.a cheap model and an expensive one at the same time.i have seen the "fake" buckers before - they actually sound good... but not like buckers coz they arent
