I've been playing guitar for 60 years. Never played an Alvarez Yairi until a couple of months ago. Strange because I'm a huge fan of Jerry Garcia and he played one. (BRING BACK THE GY-1). Anyway, after trying one I've bought three, a DYM60HD, a FYM60HD, and a FYM70. I've pre-ordered a PYM66HD. These guitars are like crack to me. Can't get enough. I also have a couple of old Martins, Santa Cruz, and an old J-45. Haven't touched them since I discovered Alvarez Yairi. That's not to say that I don't love those guitars, it's just that these Yairi guitars have some special mojo...a combination of old and new.
Get ready for the predictable purists who will enter this comment section to say that Alvarez sucks compared to Martin, Gibson etc. This will be coming from keyboard warriors who have probably never played an Alvarez guitar.

You nailed it and wrote the absolute truth about all those people buying with their eyes instead that with their ears: "This will be coming from keyboard warriors who have probably never played an Alvarez guitar."

Have you gotten your fym66hd? I’m currently interested in this model how does it compare to the fym60hd and fym70hd. I’m curious since you own all of the om models:)

@@kamarienedwards1757 I love the FYM66HD but it doesn't get used as much as the DYM60HD and the FYM60HD. It's more of a specialty guitar for recording. It doesn't project like the others but has a unique softer tone. Perfect guitar for sitting on the couch and playing. My favorite, because it's the most practical for me, is the FYM60HD.

I can almost sense the spirit of Mr. Yairi in the sounds of these guitars. The Yairi factory must be a magical place to be.

I just received the DYM74 that I ordered nearly three months ago. It is a a lightweight stunner with exceptional response and resonance. It absolutely loves a light touch, but the Redwood top doesn't seem to have the headroom of a spruce/rosewood combination. I believe it is "Gibson J45 loud" but not "Martin D-28 loud". (Just an observation - not a problem.)
The DYM74 is EASILY the best playing and sounding guitar that I own.
Point of interest: If you search online pics, you'll notice there is no center back strip; my production model has a cream/white strip -- which looks great. This is an heirloom quality instrument that I'll pass to my children.
If you're interested in buying one, contact the good people at Alamo Music Center in San Antonio. ✌️

The most Beautiful sounding guitars i have ever heard, I am hoping to someday afford a solid body Alvarez, I'm part of the praise and worship at my church and play a cheap Fender that just doesn't sound right to me. I've lost my job welding, got diagnosed with narcolepsy, neutral migraines and neuropathy in my legs. Now every place I apply for work turns me down, so I'm having to go to work at a fast food restaurant for less than half the pay I used to make. All my bills are behind and I am just praying to get through but when and if i ever can I love the MD60EBG and the non cutaway dreadnought guitars.

my heart goes out to you Mr. Beard. I've never experienced those medical conditions, especially not that many all at once, but i do know the pain of not being able to play. i was homeless for a time and had to sell both of my guitars, (Guild and Martin), so that i could eat. but after i ate, my spirit was still empty from having not been able to play for a while. Eventually i was able to invest in my very first Alvarez, the RD26, and nobody could pay me enough to trade her for a Martin lol! I know that the Lord will bring you through somehow and He won't not deny you the gift of the guitar that you so deeply long for! I've worked in fast food myself so i know about that as well. somehow, someway, God will take a time that seems bad and turn it into something good for you and he will bless you with that Alvarez! I know it, because, well, literally speaking, God only wants the best (Alvarez) for you so he he's going to bless you with it! stay faithful! stay strong!

I'm commenting before I watch. You had BETTER play the PYM60SB.
    **so let down** lol
Let's get a comparison of the 2 parlors. Can't beat the look of the sunburst model. But I'd love to hear the 66 against it. A Yairi parlor shootout would be killer! The pym70, pym60hd, pym66 and the pym60.

Is the new bracing system more responsive and touch sensitive than the previous bracing ?

  • @johnjones-uc3ni

This guitars look amazing. I think they will be a huge success and continue to sell well. As the original line of Honduran has done. I bought a Fym60hd a little over a year ago. I certainly am not going to spend four to five thousand to replace it with any brand guitar. I can't imagine a guitar that would feel as comfortable and enjoyable to play. Or sound as nice as it does. As far as the lighter bracing on the new series. My Fym60hd weighs 3lbs 14oz. For an OM guitar. I don't think being lighter would necessarily be a good thing. But for guitar players who don't own the original Yairi Honduran then the new guitars could be a great addition to their collection. But being an original owner, my thoughts are: it's hard to improve on perfection. Take Taylor for example. Is the newer V class bracing really better than the original X bracing? Maybe, maybe not. Might sound different but not necessarily better.

I have three Yairis from the 70's. I also have two regular Alvarez guitars. I'm loyal to Alvarez and Yairi but, the new Yairi models are getting as expensive, if not more, than Martins and Taylors. While they may sound better, for resale value they can't match what those other two brands can get. At least for now..... You might be better off buying a new Alvarez Laureate model for much less money.

    • @benwood7132
      @benwood7132 Před 7 měsíci +4

They’re not more expensive than Martins and Taylors.
And they’re far superior to any Martins or Taylors in their price range.
Can’t refute what you’re saying about resale value, but then again, I don’t buy Yairis to resell.
If you want to resell, then there are many options.
If you want an heirloom quality, handmade guitar for under $2.5k, you can’t do better than a Yairi, IMO.

I mean, that's guitars. Gibson re-invents the Les Paul and it flops or takes off. Bourgeois, Boucher, Collings, Santa Cruz, or Yairi revoices their guitars to be better.
