    • @khtractors
      @khtractors  Před 2 lety +4

      There is no comparison on power, the DT466 and the extra gearing makes a huge difference. I’m not pushing it hard either try in g to keep egt temps down. Rides and drives good. Hey Ben, Is that the same fuel tank that was in the blue truck? I was going to suggest cleaning up the tank because the rest of the truck is looking super clean! But i see its already on the to do list now. Truck looks like it rides like a dream, air brakes should make a difference too. For the range selector do you just flip the switch while in neutral then into the gear in the opposite range?

    • @khtractors
      @khtractors  Před 2 lety +1

      It is the same tank. The 2 speed axle can split each gear progressively or be used simply as a range extender, like a 6th gear. You have lots of combinations on using it. Makes a big difference pulling loads, I’m getting better at shifting it now. Thanks for watching!

  • @jwmfarms
    @jwmfarms Před 2 lety +2

    Ben, when you upshift the two speed, you don't need to use the clutch. Make your shift, lift your foot off of the accelerator pedal, listen for it to shift, and accelerate again. You'll get the hang of it. Also, I don't think that 466 should have needed to be downshifted pulling that hill empty. If you don't know when the fuel filters were changed, change them, if you haven't already done so! You may also want to look into a Jake Brake, would really help you hold the load back on those hills. Those Ol' Binders are tough to beat!

    • @khtractors
      @khtractors  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for the advice! That’s a much steeper hill then it looks on camera and my trailer is 7000 lbs. The red truck would only do 20 mph up that in the steepest part of the curve. The slowest I got in this truck was 38 and in a pickup 45 is a safe speed for that curve. I’m going to be changing the filters soon, just got everything this week for a service. It may help some, I’ve been really impressed with its power so far. Thanks for watching!

    So question. What are you reasons to justify having such a big truck when a 3/4 ton or 1 ton could pull the same. I’ve debated getting one for our farm and just curious on your thoughts. Thanks!

    • @khtractors
      @khtractors  Před 2 lety +2

      It’s just how they handle the load more then pulling power. Plus you can find these trucks for around $10000 or less. It relieves a lot of wear and tear on my 3/4 pickup which I hope to keep many more years. Anytime you trade for a new pickup it would cost more then $10000 difference with the way prices are climbing on vehicles. Plus I just like them 🤣! Another advantage is the truck always being ready to go vs hooking and unhooking from a daily driver. Honestly I could give lots or reasons but it may not be for everyone. I think if you can find a good medium duty truck you’ll understand. This thing pulls so much better then the other red truck. Hauled my tractor and round baler together the other day with it, that was nice to save an extra trip. Thanks for watching!

    • @khtractors
