You are an inspiration. I've lived most of my life frugally. I recently have been out of work for over half a year because of health reasons (just started back part-time this week actually).
Luckily I had enough savings to get me through this time without added stress. Now I need to focus on replenishing my health and my savings account.
I appreciate your videos. I love your personality and your spirit. Thank you! 😊

Thank you for sharing Nina, I had a somewhat similar experience in my early 20’s when I moved to
San Francisco in the 1980’s before gentrification got into full swing. Even then rent was expensive but one year I managed to live off $4000. That required couch surfing, bartering services and jobs that included meals. I was determined, and lived there for nine years. Although my income increased considerably the cost of living ultimately forced me out. I’m still grateful for the experience. Nothing is worth the cost of freedom that frugality and minimalist adds to the overall quality of life.

Thank you so much for sharing this! Wow! I've never been to San Francisco and only ever read about the high rents! It's apparently even trickier to find affordable housing than it is in NYC, and it's difficult enough there already. I am so thrilled to hear that you made it work - that's incredible!!

Hello, Nina! I can't wait until you reveal your next living location. I am so excited for you!
I do not know if I am frugal, but I am very aware of my money. I have commented before about my love of budgets and spreadsheets.
I decided to make 2019 about living more creatively, and part of that includes giving myself frugal challenges every month. This month, I am not buying anything clothing -- unless my already ragged tights shred to pieces.
As a couple, we'd been unhappy with our weekly grocery bill, so we started buying the sale fruits and vegetables (vs. buying whatever we wanted that week). We're also using up the bulk items in our pantry as well as what's in our freezer before restocking.

I am so nervous! Everything is falling slowly, but surely, into place. I'll probably reveal it once I've got it all sorted. I don't want to jinx it! :D
You were the one who inspired my "retired items" spreadsheet! :D
Monthly frugal challenges - that's such a great idea! Buying the fruit that's on sale is also a great way to save money!
Totally, using up what you have before buying something else is also key! :)

    This was extremely interesting
Nina. Living in NYC and LDN are
both fun places. But to live no.
Personally, I feel living now in CH
in Zurich, my life is of a much
    higher quality and standard. Plus
I am on a very good pension. When I realise what the pensions
in UK and USA are like it is awful.
Here in ZRH (as you know CH is
very expensive) I actually find I
    live better, safer and cheaper.
The public transport all over the
country is more than super and
    efficient and clean. Compared to
the dirty London tube stations and
metro stations in NYC. Paris is
ugh..... In ZRH I live in a studio
apartment - very nice in fact and
only pay CHF 777 inclusive of all
electricity, water and heating costs. Plus I can wash my clothes
whenever I want. Am central too -
18 minutes to the airport and about 16 minutes into city Zurich.
As you know in Switzerland a landlord is forbidden to increase
rents unless they do a full renovation or need the apartment
for a relative. Out building is only
15 years old so that would never
happen. So all in all, I more than
count my lucky stars. So reckon
I will stay where I am until I need
to go to an old age home or go to
    heaven. My neighbours are really
nice. Furthermore, am not far from beautiful Konstanz - Germany should I want to or need
    good quality clothes and stuff.
So as you can see I live frugally
    without ever having planned to
do so and am ever so happy and
grateful to lead the joyous life I do.
All the best to you for the coming
year and have fun moving to your
new country which up until now is
    a big secret.

You know what made me frugal, growing up with an alcoholic, hearing the constant complains anxiety about his self induced poverty. Now he‘s trashtalking me to my relatives. This idiot owes me 10.000€. People be grateful if you don‘t got messed up psychos as parents. 🙄

I'm sorry you had to grow up with one.i hope you find your space and peaceasfor getting trash talked...if your relatives are going to listen to this alcoholic whom I am guessing by prior experience is manipulative..then stay away from them.life should not be about proving your honesty or worth to people.live in health and strength with those who help you do that and accept your truth.forget the rest
