I used to blame my narcissist for everything, which actually showed how normalized his behavior was to me that I mimicked it (your vibe is your tribe right). When you get help and grow, you'll even stop blaming the narcissist, because the truth is you had the right and ability to set boundaries and walk away and not let them ruin your life (though it FELT like you couldn't or there were serious factors like safety, children etc). The victim narcissist relationship is a dance, when they tango and you say wow I danced years of my life away with this clown, no one outside of a actual hostage torture situation can MAKe you deny your own needs to please them. They're manipulative these narcs and we made the decisions to give in to them and hate ourselves for it but eventually you will learn you had the power the whole time and when they want to sabotage you, you have the power and choice to cut them off, set a boundary, or just do whats right for you even if it *gasp* disappoints the narcissist. Best wishes for your recovery. Take back your power.

My father was the same and a womanizer who cares more about his other kids han his first born until they said I was Autistic and ADD, at that time - I'm a gen x black kid from Chicago. I never felt so alone, especially since my older brother came by to see what happened and didn't even give me a hug. I felt like my inner child was abandoned again, but today I managed to speak to him (my inner child) again about the incident. We held hands and I reassured him that it was not his fault, that he is now safe and we walked forward in tears of relief and self acceptance.

Every time I listen to this content about trauma I feel more and more of a sense of control. I was treated like an object by my father. Everything he did was to trap me, not set me free in life. I understand why I had a problem with claustrophobia because this relationship with my father traumatized me. I felt my only option was to be as good at it as I could, but I was being used and drained when he was supposed to be the one to save me with empowerment. "Life is not Fair" was his famous "advice". I am "tracing" a lot of my anxiety to this.

    Here's a story for you.
At the age of 21 I woke from a coma for 8 days. I had to learn how to walk, talk and eat with a fork all over again. With writing, I especially struggled with the number 9. Funny thing that I still do 30 years later.
It took about a half hour to read a paragraph and understand it. Five years later I got it down to about 10 to 15 minutes to read an entire page. Progress. But academics was out of the question. So I went to tractor trailer school, which had light reading that I could handle. At the age of 26 I went to machine shop school. Again, manageable reading. I finally got into the trade. When people would give me verbal instructions to operate machinery, they would get frustrated or even furious when I asked them to repeat themselves three times. I get it. They don't get it that I struggled with processing information. Years went by and I finally got VERY good at a VERY specific skill in the trade. So 30 years later people come to me and ask me questions. My answer is always, "well, let's go look at it and figure it out".
Seasons and chapters in life. I feel lucky that I made it through a trauma so intense it caused psoriasis from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet for over a decade.
Bread crumbs I've picked up along my journey in this life:
If you think you can, you will. If you think you can't, you're right!
    Belief creates the fact.
In the darkest skies, the stars are best seen.

Like I said your video was just what I needed, you explain so clearly. Thank you

I enjoy watching a notable portion of the videos you release if they happen to pertain to different areas of adversity and struggle in my life as well as the odd, idiosyncratic topic that just sounds intriguing and makes me want to understand the various ailments and trauma that people experience on a daily basis. From all the videos I've seen of yours thus far (fairly new youtube subscriber), they all are presented in a professional, concrete/easy to understand way and showcase scientific, empirical and/or academic based material, but I feel like videos like this one in particular shine above the rest (not discounting how good the other ones are) because there are so many disparate topics all combined into one deep-dive that shows how they are all actually interconnected. Not to mention all the easy to implement suggestions you offer that can change one's life in strides if followed consistently and over a long period of time. The main purpose of me commenting is for no other reason than to show my appreciation for your hard work as well as utilize the archive system youtube has in place for comments so that it's easier to find important videos across several youtube channels that I would like to go back to if I ever need to refresh on certain topics :)

Try checking with Bessel van der Kolk's people - we've moved on A LOT from here.
Firstly, the progression of basic trauma into (C)PTSD
Secondly, a general model of healing, draining the reflex reaction in the amygdala. The empirical methods all do the same thing:
    1. Focus the subject on the trigger causing the issues
    2. Drop them into cognitive suppression (ie meditation). The cognitive suppression frees a limbic process which autonomously drains the response associated with the trigger. It no longer then causes an issue, a trigger simply gets no response.
2a. As a personal experiment, a Kinetic Shift session did as expected, I then used Reiki (a fancy name for a healing gift) to flood it with agape. I now get a warm hug back!

All my doctor's just say it will never go away and I'm going to have to just learn to deal with it. They give such bleak diagnosis because they can't just give me a pill and make it better. I will definitely start doing these things you suggested. 🙏

@JA remember this: drs are limited by their own learning experiences and training. And, science is new almost every day.
So don't ever ever give up. This comes from someone who in 1/4 of time, has recuped what most people do in 15-20 years thank God for helping me find videos like these that teach us and guide us through our struggles. Then when visiting drs you know the questions to ask. If a dr I went, was not to my satisfaction, I looked for another one.
Especially when it comes to the brain and the mind, there is not much training in medical school for the unseen and unpredictable. So drs cannot treat it.
Document 📄 taking notes about your eating, sleeping, emotional patterns with daily life activities, and medication time and frequency if taking any.
Document your thoughts, and behavior. If needed and if possible. That when you look back in 6 months or 1 year, you see your progress. Best regards.

The vagus nerve is tied into the acid-base balance part of body. When the nerve becomes irritated in the diaphragm, we hiccup. Our blood pH is normally 7.35-7.45 arterially & in an acute setting, our bodies will increase or decrease respiration to maintain that level. In chronic situations, the kidneys become involved. Chronic stress really is harmful to individuals. Inflammation leads to platelet aggregation & heart attack/stroke.

This is very helpful information for people that need to be aware of their trauma and how to know when and how to regulate their systems instead of being triggered into a trauma reaction or flair-up! Such a practical, science informed tools and techniques that address how nutritional and the nervous system’s role play in keeping you stuck in our old trauma responses. Thank you!!🙏

Thank you for this video on rewiring the brain after trauma, especially because of ptsd or cptsd. I love your holistic approach to this kind of area of health and that you don't seem to be a pill pusher. Lol. You are right on with stating that most times people with unresolved trauma do not sleep. Another issue you can point out is that sometimes the unresolved trauma shows up in their sleep by way of drrams/ nightmares where their brains are trying to process. These nightmares then disrupt sleep, and cause fight or flight while sleeping, causing even more sleep issues by of disturbance. So once you do the deep breathing and the relaxation techniques and all the other natural sleep inducing things to get you to nod off, then you are hit with a disturbance that startles you out of sleep. As a highly sensitive person, dreaming is where lots of processing of all kinds of things, and sometimes, even healing, has happened for me.

Thank you so much for watching and for sharing. Yes, sleep is important in healing and in processing trauma. What tools from the video will you use first to rewire the traumatized brain?

@@DocSnipes well I just started incorporating 20 seconds of cold water in the shower to tone the vagus nerve. For me, I think deep tissue massages help unwrap trauma that might be trapped in the muscles and the tissues of the body,so I am a big proponent of people with trauma getting massages. I also think that opening up and talking about it frees you up a lot as well. I know for me my last felt like some big big secret that I felt like I had to hold and hide, but that is just not the truth. Opening up and talking about it can be very healing.
