I lived in the Lowcountry of South Carolina for years had Gullah friends takes a while to understand what they're saying to you. Some of the very very friendliest people I've ever met.
I just found out my great grandmother was gullah geechee. And that she had to flee from South Carolina, they said my great grandfather was seminole Indian. I wish I knew more than this. 😔

ya know This vid is very true, however, it fails to mention those who fought for the confederacy. While they wasn't nearly as numerous as those who fought against it, they still fought freely for the south. The war is written by the victors as a war against Slavery, however for the southerner it was a war states rights. The Gullah Geechee people are a distinct and intermixed group on the barrier islands of South Carolina and Georgia. However far less came straight to North America, they were brought to seasoning ports in Jamaica and Barbados before being sold into slavery. 1910 slavery was abolished in 1865. South Carolina was the most slave dependent state. They left the union first to preserve their right to own Africans as slaves

Also, not everyone enslaved in SC was from Africa, I think most will agree with you there, especially those who know from which tribes they hail from. I say look at 1860 and 1870 for more details.

The war is written by the victors as a war against Slavery, however for the southerner it was a war states rights. The Gullah Geechee people are a distinct and intermixed group on the barrier islands of South Carolina and Georgia. However far less came straight to North America, they were brought to seasoning ports in Jamaica and Barbados before being sold into slavery. 1910 slavery was abolished in 1865. South Carolina was the most slave dependent state. They left the union first to preserve their right to own Africans as slaves

Also, not everyone enslaved in SC was from Africa, I think most will agree with you there, especially those who know from which tribes they hail from. I say look at 1860 and 1870 for more details.
