  • I was deeply saddened when I heard the news of Leonard Cohen's passing.
I uploaded this piece in memoriam of Leonard Cohen.
When Leonard Cohen was on a tour through Europe in early 1988 promoting his latest LP „I’m Your Man“ - with the hit single „First We Take Manhattan“ - I got the chance to talk to him in Munich.
He had just released a third (!) video for this song, recorded in Normandie/France by Dominique Issermann.
When I asked him, if he knew a joke, he first said no, he wouldn’t like jokes, but then… See for yourself.
And yes, I do find it strange that he died one day after somebody with an orange face and yellow hair trumped up, splitting a nation and he really did take not only Manhattan.
And next the strange guy will take…

loved your interview here! you can always tell if Leonard has that smirk on, that's when he's actually having some fun in an interview as opposed to many other clips where you see him politely struggling to perform his boring press tour duties. So great job and great memories!

Very few singers seem to be addressing our predicament. - Leonard, no one’s voice has come closer than yours in addressing our desires, defeats, anxieties and exaltations. And to say that that voice is missed is just about the largest understatement one can make.

Hello, I just watched the video, thanks for uploading it. So are you the presenter, then? Internet gets us to do things that seem impossible, like having the opportunity to talk to you (I hope). Would you mind to share here some off-camera anecdote from the no-joking man, please? ;) That would be wonderful. Thank you again for sharing this interview.
