There are no pre-programmed sequences.
All drum sequences need to be programmed on the fly.
All bass lines need to be randomly generated by the TD-3.

Everytime I hear the RD-8 it sounds so much better than any digital version of it or any drums produced by samples. It's so rich. Totally hear the difference. I guess I need to buy one of these.

Fantastic! I did the same thing with the Roland Boutiques (TR-08/TR-09/TB-03) a few years ago, except I only did three random patterns in about 7 1/2 minutes. All drum patterns were programmed from scratch during the recording as well. It's called the Roland Boutique Acid Jam. It was so fun that I turned it into a whole series! Peace \/
Now I am starting to look at the rd 8 with love....great set....you killing it 🍺

@eF Ka Ja total cool, konnte nicht wiederstehen jetzt doch nochmal einige Geräte zu kaufen, macht immer noch Spaß.
Darf gar nicht dran denken daß ich meine damals verkauft habe bevor die Preise so gestiegen sind. 101303606808909, Roland SH2, Micromoog, MS20 und Zeug das ich schon vergessen habe.

Tatsächlich ein Ohrenschmaus wie anderer Kommentar es betitelt ;)
Besonders die RD 8 hast du super "bedient" und die kommt richtig fantastisch zur Geltung.
Bei der 303 (td3) hättest aber echt nen delay/reverb Effekt dahinter hängen sollen (und ebenso intuitiv live bedienen sollen ) .
Das würde dann sicher jedem die Sprache verschlagen.
Also das wäre dann sozusagen das Nonplusultra gewesen..

Ich hab ein ähnlich kleines Setup aufgebaut allerdings alle Einzelausgänge in ein analoges Mischpult gegeben und jedenKanala dann mit EQ, Compressor/Limiter und mehreren MPX Effektgeräten aufgebrezelt. ...eigentlich braucht man nichts weiter zum spielen...naja...vielleicht so wie ich einen ESI-4000 Sampler dazu :D

Dirtbox, I have a little question - I see a little bit of how you've connected your devices but can't determine if you're using "external in" of behringer rd8 to receive audio from td3 or are they both routed mono out to a mixer and then combined in a stereo mixout to prevent phasing issues? Thanks
hi there! i connected both machines directly to the mixer, so we have two mono outputs going to the mixer. no phasing issues here.
It would be good to hear the rd8 playing alongside the rd6 , the rd6 sounds really punchy as well .

Yeah the td-3's random generator seems to love triplet patterns for some reason :)

Do you think you could put a tutorial up on how to link the TD-3 & RD-8 together so they run in syn. Even better if you have Cubase how to run the hardware as the clock and use as midi channels.
There are a number of ways to sync up these units. I'd guess the RD-8 is master clock here and the TD-3 is set up as slave. Look at midi settings in the manuals you'll work it out

Sorry, just have to ask: "No additional effects", yet theres reverb coming in after two dry claps at 1:05. Am I missing some internal reverb function?
thats a quirk of the rd8, it plays two short claps until it starts with the „regular“ clap length. i don‘t know it this has been fixed in the meantime, but by that time of recording, it was still an issue.

Ich verbringe 90% meiner Freizeit an acid und würde mich freuen einige spezifische Themen durchzugehen. Viele Grüße aus Sülz und Probs an diesen jam.. Super fett!
ich arbeite tatsächlich schon gut zweieinhalb jahre nicht mehr im store ;) insofern sieht man mich da mittlerweile relativ selten, nur gelegentlich eben als kunde. ich fürchte aber auch, dass mir einfach die zeit für persönlichen unterricht o.ä. fehlt, ich hab vollzeitjob, arbeite dazu viel freiberuflich nebenher und habe familie... insofern leider annähernd keine zeit für gar nix, sorry... dennoch: danke und viele grüße ;)

21:13, ich kanns nicht glauben du meinst das wirklich ernst mit den random patterns, ich dachte du hast welche vorbereitet die durch die random funktion erstellt wurden.
Bei mir klingen die meist zwar "interessant" aber nicht brauchbar, was für mich besser funktioniert hat ist mal random zu drücken und dann noch auf die schnelle und ohne viel zu überlegen accents, slides, eventuell töne und timing zu bearbeiten - wobei das dann im Zusammenspiel mit Drumpatterns auch nicht gut klang weil diese patterns für sich zwar gut klangen aber "nicht auf der eins begannen" und damit so klangen als wäre drumpattern und bassline irgendwie auseinandergelaufen, nicht von wegen sync sondern eben vom Beginn
Muß das noch ein paarmal probieren, bei mir klang bloß einer von 10 halbwegs brauchbar, mit den beschriebenen Vorbehalten.
ich bin auch ehrlich gesagt überrascht über die qualität der random pattern. andererseits meine ich aber auch, dass nicht jede bassline zu jedem groove passt. ich versuche da schon eher die drums an die bassline anzupassen. wenn ich die random pattern "trocken" generieren lasse, also nur an der td-3 bin ich aber oft auch nicht so überzeugt und probiere dann weiter rum. im livekontext steht man aber so unter zugzwang, da irgendwas draus zu machen, was ja unter diesen umständen irgendwie auch klappt.
@@DirtboxJams jo, beim live spielen gilt einfach nur lange genug stehen lassen, dann kommt man schon rein... ;)

ich mag deine Videos. Punkt. Aber hier stimmt was nicht: die Claps in den ersten 3 Minuten laufen völlig aus dem Takt. Die beiden Geräte sind doch synchron - wie kann das sein? sorry ich schalte ab, das kann ich nicht mehr anhören.
