can't we make those subtitles go into the actual watching area instead of putting them half below black bars and half inside the picture we see. so that we will watch entire picture without being distrubed by the image shifting even when the subtitles pop up.
Yes! Actually that is a feature we are working on currently. It is called Dynamic Subtitle Overlay. It is designed to nicely remove the subtitles from the black bar area, and then nicely overlay them into the content area with a nice background behind them to make them readable, just as if the subtitles had been placed where you originally would have expected them to be inside the content. Q. Does Envy support Dolby Vision (DV) or HDR10+? A. DV and HDR10+ consist of a HDR10 base stream with additional scene-by-scene metadata. This added metadata allows a DV or HDR10+ compatible display, that is not using a madVR Envy, to at least have some form of dynamic tone mapping for each scene. With the Envy, there is no need or interest in this metadata. This is because the Envy uses the HDR10 base stream (that is part of each DV or HDR10+ stream) to measure every pixel of every video frame in real time. By doing this, the Envy replaces the DV or HDR10+ metadata with our own dynamically generated metadata, which yields superior results than what DV and HDR10+ produce. As an example, the Envy's proprietary approach actually allows the Envy to dynamically adjust its tone mapping not only scene-by-scene, but even within each scene, going beyond what DV and HDR10+ does. In summary, while from a marketing perspective some people might fear they are missing out without HDR10+ or DV, with the Envy they are already getting what many believe to be the best-in-class tone mapping, without relying on HDR10+ or DV metadata.
How is the upcoming motion interpolation AI algorithm going to operate? On a pixel by pixel basis as well? Can you comment on the effect on a QD-OLED display? Will it mirror upcoming potential advancements in motion such as TruCut Motion that might be adopted? My dealer has commented that the upcoming motion interpolation feature would make a QD-OLED display motion as good or even better than plasma motion, can you comment on this comparison? Thanks!

I can say that we have been very impressed with what the first alpha run of the algo produced, easily surpassing other MI algos we compared it to in several ways. We still have a lot of work to do, and prefer to under promise and overdeliver, so we're not ready to comment further just yet. What is the eventual goal in terms of a comparable refresh rate for the MI feature on a per pixel basis? 600hz or higher? Or is it apples to oranges in terms of the algorithm and refresh rate concepts?
