Do you have a video on the Hardiebacker with Hydrodefense that is now available? Is it the same?
What about the bottom edge going against a permafrost pan? Is there a recommended sealant for that transition? If used in a KBRS pan that requires the backer board be installed into the pan. Is there a sealant there to keep it from wicking?

can that board be used as a backer for stucco?

Always used a waterproof membrane on the board like Red guard or aqua defense

It’s waterproof board. No need to use an extra waterproofing membrane. And before anyone says otherwise, I’ve been in my home for over 25 years and the first shower I did without a membrane (because it wasn’t called for back then) and after 22 years my shower is perfect with no water damage

I see plywood , what about insulation? What about a vapor retarder on the insulation? If its waterproof will it condensate in the wall?

    Maybe I missed it?
Which side goes out, the rough side or the side with all the embossed squares? Thanks 🙏🏼

Ive seen tile guys put the label side in but from what im reading....for the .42 wide 500 HardieBacker on walls it doesnt matter which side is in or out. Obviously if you put the label side out youd want to remove the label sticker so thats probably why tile guys just do the label side in. The thinner floor HardieBacker does have a side up though.

It depends on your installation. If you're using a latex mastic, smooth side goes out (this is common with linoleum tile, immitation-tile-sheet, and other flexible materials). If you're applying tile and using a thinset (latex or acrylic modified, or otherwise), the rough side goes out.

What does he mean at 2:42 “caulk accordingly?” Do I caulk seams before I thin set them?

I have no idea. I installed everything listed in this video and did not caulk. I caulked the FINISHED tile CORNERS, that was it. I did not caulk the backer board.

What were to happen if the installer put the cement board on the floor backwards?

      I think it's mentioned 2:20. It's optional.

No waterproofing tape at the corners is a recipe for disaster
