This residence was conceptualized as an urban house to accommodate the aspirations of two generations. Evolved from the experiences of joint family setup in the urban context, the architects wanted to achieve a balance with the context of the spaces and their relationship between the generations.
With well planned spaces and volumes, this house evokes a feel of mansion with copious natural light and ventilation, expanding volumetrically.
Architect Swetha Gopinath from SASW Architects narrates the story of this beautiful house in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Pooja place looks very nice. Exposed concrete gives it a nice minimalistic feel from exterior.

On the one hand, you call it a jewel box. On the other, you call it minimalistic. I see the word minimalistic applied so liberally these days that it has become a joke.
And then you throw in the word compact house.

If there is a new buzzword, people have to bastardize it until it loses its whole meaning. I am in no way a minimalist, but people giving the meaning that minimalism is so contextual that everyone is now a minimalist is the height of hypocrisy.

I dont understand why these architects call 2400 sq feet as compact. Then what is 600 and 1200 sq feet houses which are common across bangalore.

Aren't there any civic corporation bylaws to provide a minimum of 2 to 3 feet between buildings in plots next to each other...? The space around the house is left in case of emergency exits during fire or natural calamities.
Doesn't the city have enforcement to ensure this space between buildings..?

This house is in JP Nagar Bangalore...it's a 40x60( 2400 sft) plot....I have visited the house and it isn't that great as its shown in the video....

14k per sq. ft. Total built up area is 5600 sq. ft. That means it costs 7.84 crore approx to the customer. You have just ripped off the customer. You also took 3 years to execute this project.
This should have been built within 3 crores, I have no clue what made them to pay so high

At 0:59 the neighbor could literally hear what is happening in the adjacent house. Moreover there would no ventilation if no free space is allowed in the plot. We have to spend on air conditioning OR other means for it. There would be no privacy if there aren't any space around the house. Form precedes function in such houses. Hope people are aware of the implications of the design and requirements. 😐😐

These are the professionals who make the middle class feel that they can never afford Architects to design their homes. Rs 2500 - Rs 4000 /sq ft we get beautifully designed homes, custom made, well thought of, going hand in hand with Nature designed abodes. What is this Nonsense here?? Looks like a local Contractor designed building. Every other building is the same design what we see here!
