    OMG you just saved me. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a font longer and I’ve spent an hour trying to figure it out. Then I was like… wonder if Karolyn has a video! I could hug you. I’ve made cakes for awhile but never with fondant and now getting a lot of request for theme type birthday cakes. That stuff drives me nuts but is getting easier with your help. Thank you!!

    Love your videos. If you don't want to take a picture of the font, you can copy the text and Paste > Paste Special > Select As a Picture. You can then select and manipulate. You can also do this with just 1 letter. If you use the Picture Format selection and use Wrap Text (In Front or Behind), you can manipulate the letters to touch. A lot of times, I will use PowerPoint to build graphics.

    Great video! If you have the "snipping tool" on your PC you can skip the step of taking a picture with your phone. Just outline the part you want and save it, (you can crop too) then attach to your word document, and stretch and pull just like you showed. Random question.... how often do you change your exacto blade? How do you know when you need to? Thanks!

    • @Brandi_the_Baker
      @Brandi_the_Baker Před 2 lety

      @@KarolynsKakes oh no. I hope I can get it to work. It would be a game changer. But hey if you have a cricut, use that to make your print out because you can also download dafont fonts into design space and the. You can customize the width and height of all the letters and print it straight from design space to your printer on a sheet of paper. Yes, use design space to make your names and you won’t have to take pics and all that.

    • @Brandi_the_Baker
      @Brandi_the_Baker Před 2 lety

      I think the trick might be to use a super fine point blade and also adjust the blade height. I will also have to find a way to stick it to a mat without it sticking completely. I bet using some crisco might help it stay in place.

    Fondant words have been THE MOST frustrating thing for me. I add tylose and let the Marshmallow Fondant rest. Either I still get elephant skin or it drags. Can you make a video about trouble shooting Fondant issues when making things like this or the other flat Fondant images?

    • @KarolynsKakes
      @KarolynsKakes  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm actually posting a video on Sunday about covering a cake in fondant and it talks about getting your fondant to the correct consistency. If you add tylose and still find that it's too soft, then add some more! Are you adding enough powdered sugar to your fondant? You don't want your fondant to be too soft to start with. But if you add too much sugar, it will be too dry. So there's a fine line!

  • @kaedee13
    @kaedee13 Před 2 lety

    Hey Karolyn, rather than using your phone to take a photo of the name on the screen, if you tap the PrtScn (printscreen) key on the keyboard, it takes a snapshot of the screen and saves it to the computer's clipboard, which you can then paste into the document as a picture to be cropped, resize etc. If you tap and hold the Alt key, then tap the PrtScn key, it takes a snapshot of just the document and leaves out the surroundings.
    I have watched most of your videos and have enjoyed learning so much from you. I have a question about painting white chocolate. I used a soccer ball mould to make white chocolate soccer balls (obviously lol) and I wanted to paint the black sections of the ball, but my edible texta pen didn't work, neither did colouring gel.
