Poromboke is an old Tamil word meaning shared-use community resources like waterbodies, seashore and grazing lands that are not assessed for tax purposes. Today, it has become a bad word used to describe worthless people or places. Chennai Poromboke Paadal is part of a campaign to reclaim the word and restore its worth.

கர்நாடக சங்கீதம் தங்களின் பரம்பரை சொத்து என்று பிராமணர்கள் ஏன் சொந்தம் கொண்டாடுகிறார்கள். காக்கை குருவிகளும் இசை பாடுகின்றன. அதனால் தானோ பாரதி காக்கை குருவியும் எங்கள் ஜாதி என்றார். இந்த பிரபஞ்சத்தில் எல்லாம் எல்லோருக்கும் சொந்தமே கடவுள் உட்பட. அவரவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு வேண்டியதை வேண்டிய அளவு எடுத்துக் கொள்கிறார்கள். அதிகமாக எடுத்துக் கொள்கிறவர்கள் (சாதகம் செய்பவர்கள் சாதிக்கிறார்கள்)
என்ன ஒரு குரல், பாடல், இசை. அந்த திருஞான சம்பந்தருக்கே பொறாமை வரும். என்றும் வாழ்க தமிழிசை.

Yesterday, 29 Jan 2018, a brilliant rendition of Poramboku in Bangalore for Gauri Day celebrations enchanted the packed house. The other song, anti Aadhaar number also drew a huge applause and filled our hearts with the message of the Commons and how commons, you and me are cheated by the government! Making us Niraadhaars!!!
Social message said in a beautiful way, lines like "Kaelvi keta 'Make in India' nu vada suduvaan" "Valarchi velai vaipu ellam vetti saaku" "Ennore la senji mudichatha, un oorula seya varuvaan" all were like bullet on the forehead.

Ganga, Kaveri, Brhahmputra, Mahanadi, Godavari, Yamuna, Narmada, Krishna, Sone and many such rivers are our lifeline. They mean different things to different lives. Just combine both the issues and sent to the National Green Tribunal. ..Ennore, Pallikaranai and other welands must be added to Ramsar sites..... It will automatically get protection. fantastic ! Though the term Vadai sudarthu looks foreign to us who are living outside tamilnadu , the english subtitle cleared the meaning. More mesmerised by the ragamalika content starting from ananda bairavi and ending with sindu bairavi than the lyrics , which could have been better and more poetical.
