I totally agree with your points on Bheta Decima. I personally play BD with my friends with our own rule changes; always using the swimming/diving rules, and spending 2" to climb/drop gantries instead of the 4". It's much more playable and more interesting this way.

I recently used Khorne daemons in a home brew 4way free for all of ITD. 12 Bloodletters skulking through hallways was so much fun. And seemed a bit OP for the close quarters game. Also it took absoloutley no brain power
As a Blades of Khaine player, playing before and after this update against scout marines does feel a bit different, you do feel that extra shotgun and the combat knife is kind of crazy, but I would not say it’s an extreme uphill battle. It doesn’t feel too much different from before. That being said I’ve only played mono-scorpions, and having double aspect abilities is enormously helpful. I’m considering doing a split team of scorpions and banshees, and I’m not sure if that will help or harm me.
I should also note that that is from me playing Infiltrate. Every game against scout marines has ended in a tie or one point difference both before and after the update, but if I were playing Seek and Destroy I would’ve had close to maxed out secondaries.
The 3 APL is still a massive help against the scout marines. Oh and we’ve only ever done open terrain and into the dark because I’ve yet to meet someone who wants to play on Beta Decima lol
But that’s just one man’s experience.

I was not expecting another great buff for my salvagers but yeah that’s gonna be so good for them especially cuz I’m in melee a lot more than shooting sometimes during custom campaign missions with wacky deployments and they were always really weak in that respect but now just being able to tank a little bit of damage might save me from getting one shot sometimes. Normally I always kinda left the leader in the backline a bit to prevent my opponent from scoring on headhunter but now I’m definitely gonna be more aggressive with him since I chose the plasma gun and gauntlet to max out on just raw damage (and he has the extra melee crit damage battle honor) so getting into melee with a bit more survivability is gonna pay off so well when I’ve got a dude with a 5/7 stun weapon.
A bit sad about the reception of bheta decima but I still find it to be so fun and I totally want to get it for myself still.
That farstalker comment got me good. I just can’t figure the obsession with that team sucking. Why are they willing to die on that hill?
The scout knife is such a baffling change still. The backflip 1v2ing space marines is so bad it’s hilarious. I think they were so desperate to make scouts good they gave up on logic and threw the first buff they came up with at them. Absolutely insane

Hierotek nerf seems unreasonable to me, if 2+ res was too strong then move it back to a 3+, a 2+ res at 3-5 wounds is almost as bad as it was on release, and hierotek can't afford to play it safe if they want to score primary points. The warcom article putting it as a 'slight adjustmemt' makes me think that removing the rp timing change was a mistake, but I doubt we'll see it fixed anytime soon espescially with a new edition on the horizon.

They turn off the power fields to make it fair
Sitting here with my Nemesis Claw smiling as I straight up counter the scout buffs, the extra body still hurts for activation numbers but with delay and reduce damage/attacks from screecher and skin theif + trophy I had great games into them in a recent tournament.
Not to mention skin denying them the re-rolls too from their ploys
I think issue is Scouts have the numbers to get around the NC tricks 😅

Thank goodness for Heirotek Circle Living Metal and Reanimation rework. It's so feelsbad after sinking a ton of fire into a mini only to have it come back with nearly, if not, all of their wounds. I'm glad with this.

I know they're a brand new team, but after a few games with the Yaegirs, they could really use the extra I ch of movement, 4" is just painful, even with the forward deploy.
I was only half expecting that little change but I'm still pretty disappointed they didn't get it.
Still trying to wrap my head around how they're supposed to work. Any thoughts on their playstyle or how to best utilize their strengths?
Yeah they really need the extra movement. They work as a great counter punish team but just need some more mobility
Hierotek Nerfs is only logical if you look at general video game logic, regen first and then revive.
The KT meta currently however, forced Necrons to go balls to the walls.
RP should be on D3+3 on 3+, that's actually a sweet spot IMO. instead they make it 2+ healing D3+2 which makes sense if we are playing by early Bheta Decima rules about jumping rolls to reduce the "feel bad" turns but with jumping rolls scrapped altogether the RP change to 2+ is a massive buff, combine that with LM happen after RP before this update makes Hierotek a bit busted with coming back from the dead with full health
I think, that Scouts Combat Blade was supposed to get 4/5 as the Chainsword instead of +1/+1 but GW goofed and didn't realize it. :D

@@CanYouRollaCrit Guess Nottingham knives are a successor to Ancient Rome Senate's knives. Extra stabby against Elites.
Hopefuly Reivers, Phobos and Marines will soon join that club.

Brood Brotherd mostly as well as Mandrakes. Do well into Wyrmblade too
I'll say it. I think this Dataslate was written by the the B-team/interns. The A-team developer talent is working on the new edition and GW is giving the current edition of KT the the short end of the stick. Some of my examples:

Salvager buffs
Kasrkin neglect
Kroot neglect
Elite team neglect
Etc, ect...
We deserved better. 😮💨

Also, I stand by what I have said with my friends. Hierotek should go back to 1d3 + 3 if they are going to change living metal, OR bring living metal back.

You mentioned Legionaries could get a 30 man roster. At that point is it just worth saying they can pick their marks during the equipment set up?
Maybe but I like the roster mechanic and sets up Legionary as the "Inquisition" team for Chaos
That'd allow mark counter-picking based on what your opponent selects for their team.

Ok so new player. How would I build scouts out of the box with this update?
All specialist then 2 shotguns and 2 knives. You could drop heavy bolter and rocket launcher for another shotgun and knife but not a fan of that

I think that 10 Scouts is fine. But I'd prefer that tracker could have a comms-like ability and one of the other two abilities for 0 APs, and having more points on their passive.
Because they really have just 1 Support Specialist, the rest are melee specialist (Hunter), or gunners, so there is no problem with having 1 super-supp specialist.
But this buff is lame. Absurdily good, but boring.

This is not the first dataslate you have graded out at "weird" You're not wrong. This one was weird. I was looking forward to Scouts becoming cooler. I played them a lot pre-buff and just found them boring. This will not change that. So despite the obvious buff up, I wont be pulling them back out.

Yeah 100% Mandrakes are better atm. Way more crazy skills and mobility

They're still holding solid imo
I agree about BoK beings losers for this. I know they're still doing relatively well in terms of winrate, but they feel so unreliable, kind of like old Corsairs but maybe even worse.
It's a shame, I was more excited for them than any other team, and they're so disappointing I've taken a break from KT for a while.

@@CanYouRollaCrit It's almost as if they wanted to intentionally relegate the DA's to being junior partners in the team. I'm not sure if people would take them at all if not for the Tac Ops.
With that scout DMG i want Reivers to hit for 5/7 or 4/6 with Lethal 5+ at least. Incursor knife can be 4/6 they aren't a melee ops after all 🙃

You forgot to mention the Yegyrs among the losers: Salvagers are simply better than them now and Brood Brothers wipe the floor with them

I think i called out how bad beta decima was obviously was from the first day. it was a terrible idea

From Fellgor on has just been a huge disappointment in balance for me. I mainly play casual, I do a tourney a couple times a year, but the vast majority of my games are with friends. The amount of times I've looked at a team and loved it but knew I'd stomp my friends and put them to the side is a bummer. I hope whatever they do next they don't do this kill team arms race again.

Is it my impression or was this third season the worst in terms of care taken with the game by the designers? The community remains the best and honestly didn't deserve this kind of treatment.
KT survived Tenth Edition, Legion Imperialis, HH, Old World, and now the AoS wave. I hope that sooner or later they dedicate at least half the effort they spent on one of these games. I just hope that all efforts are concentrated on the next edition.
I don't think so, they've put a lot of effort into S3 still and in general for KT, which I only expect to go up as the future continues for KT

I think it's safe to say that bheta Decima hasn't had the slightest impact on the competitive scene compared to ITD.
In addition to the fact that the change in the obscured->not visible mechanics is truly the demonstration of zero playtest (or almost). Zero support also from Warhammer Community and White Dwarf (except with some narrative nonsense for fun).
FAQ without notice, superficiality of the balances in some cases (the last one is a disaster).
Every now and then some videos from the designers on the metawatch came out... now not even those.

Why can't intercession get heros!? An apothecary, Chaplin, librarian, or something to let them have a trick? Give them something more interesting to play with other than 3 ups
I don't think they need heroes, also makes the KT more expensive to play
