    Actually it can make a difference, the safest option is to drive up onto the ramps so if your handbrake doesn't hold when you unhitch, the van will roll back (away from your vehicle and you) and not into the rear of your vehicle, or you.....just things you learn after many years of caravaning.... You will love the DO35 hitch it is quieter in operation and easier to hitch up....

      Correct. I see lots of people reversing up on to ramps.

    We always use walkie talkies and have spirit levels attached to the outside of the van we bought from US Amazon. I never lift off the ball with the chains detached as a rule. Once our caravan moved on us despite the handbrake.

    • @Ourwhittleadventure
      @Ourwhittleadventure  Před 3 lety +1

      Thats fair, we sometimes use walkie talkies but we have some good hand signals now.
      The leaving chains attached is fair, we dont ever disconnect until its all chocked and handbrake aswell

    how do you find the plastic ramps stand up to the rocky ground?

    • @Ourwhittleadventure
      @Ourwhittleadventure  Před 3 lety

      We haven’t had a problem but we also just dig holes aswell if the ground allows to save using the ramps

    HI, are you sure that tow ball shank is rated for your van,I have one and it's only,two ton rated due to being a two part setup with bolts,regards Rodney

  • @Mick_4591
    @Mick_4591 Před 3 lety

    You didnt show where the breakaway cable was attached.
    Its z big no no to attach to any part of the towbar if thats where you had it attached to.. Goid rule of thumb is to drive onto the leveling ramps not reverse onto them

    Good video. You mentioned getting a DO35 Hitch. Man I suggest you have a look at the McHitch Auto Coupler system (czcams.com/video/fYRwV9byYT4/video.html) which in our opinion is far easier to use and (again in my opinion) better than the DO35. We've had it on 3 of our caravans.

    • @Ourwhittleadventure
      @Ourwhittleadventure  Před 2 lety

      Oh right, had not heard about that one.
      Have had the DO-35 now for 6 months and have been really happy with it so far, but will remember that for future.

      I've had both McHitch and D035. In my opinion D035 wins hands down and is way better than McHitch
