Watching DSP do a second/remaster run is all the evidence you need that he categorically is not capable of learning and doesn't care to, because his audience has either been sufficiently gaslit into believing that he actually isn't at fault for his evident ineptitude, or is somehow fine with the cascade of complaints he uses to obscure it. The way he is capable of failing at the exact same events, years apart, is just... fascinating to watch. Failing to grasp the simple concept that going into lava when you don't have the lava-resistant suit is a bad idea, getting most of the way up the tower that requires 70+ missiles to finish when he clearly doesn't have enough missiles to complete it, failing at the first major grapple room ad nauseum. It's remarkable how he can be so consistent at repeating the exact same mistakes, falling for "beginner's traps" when he's evidently *not* a beginner, and failing to follow simple instructions that the game clearly establishes.
And yet when a viewer dares to miss a single detail and recommends he do something he already did, he'll make a public spectacle of mocking them. He's just such an ass.
I gotta get a used Switch, just for Metroid Prime.
One of the best games ever made and waaaaay ahead of its time. It was one of the few games I had to take notes and draw maps for.

Holy cow I did not think I could ever see someone be as bad at the momentum puzzles as DSP is. That 4 minutes of him trying that one towards the end felt like a nightmare and that was sped up!

I love the DSP mentality so much.
He starts off every playthrough so jovial that he's playing a new game, praising the controls and the gameplay and the level design.
Then he runs into a minor inconvenience (that he gets himself into), and suddenly the game's bugged, the controls are terrible, and the level design doesn't allow him to play how he wants.
Never change, Dave. It's gameplay like this that gives us such great content in the long run.

That's truly strange how every single video game he has ever played in his life dropped his inputs, has input lag, and doesn't tell him what to do. He did nothing wrong, he did everything correct.
It hurts my soul every time he shit talks the morph ball camera. That shit was designed by the late Mark Haigh-Hutchinson, who literally wrote the book on 3D camera design. Metroid Prime's dynamic camera syatem was WAY ahead of its time and a landmark piece of game developnent history

He is so bad at hiding his disdain and pretending he likes Metroid games. You can tell hes being totally fake and pretending hes having a good time. Metroid is like the one Nintendo series that doesnt completely hold your hand and guide you through, you gotta remember stuff, remember where youve been and what powers you might need. He haaaaaates this and all Metroid games but he plays it so fake "Were having a nice chill relaxing stream", meanwhile he hates the game soooooo much.
I never played a single Metroid Prime game in my life, until I bought this remastered. Good ole dave giving people reasons to play the same game he's playing, but correctly.
Was looking forward to this since square one and as always the outsider does not disappoint

When he's playing a game and money comes in, sorry you have to wait because he's "concentrating" or "doing a tough segment." When he needs to/wants to ban someone, the game is paused immediately.
lol @41:35 imagine if it was still like the original and you ACTUALLY had to do a 3 bomb jump just to get that double hop. In the first one, you can't hop for free. So this is a neutered experience that is easier and he still blows nuts at it. It would be fun to watch him try for that one missle expansion that I just know for a FACT he cannot get in the first Metroid Prime in the walls during a ball maze section.
Phil is deliberately reading through scans, instead of just letting go of the target button, and he's bitching about it being too long of a read. Yep, he totally changed massively since he played the Trilogy version.
Watching Phil ruin great games is a fascinating experience. Prime is a masterpiece and he appreciates almost nothing about it. Just sad.
I just beaten metroid prime on the switch and it was awesome and it was my stepping stone for the series in general. I'm now playing prime 2 on gamecube. Hope that prime 2 and 3 getting a remaster on switch so i can play 3 and watch dsp fail at prime 2 and 3
It blows my mind that for how much of a SNES fanboy Phil seems to be, he supposedly never played Super Metroid when he was a kid. He acts like he has so much experience playing the SNES' game library from back in the day, but he never seems to remember about series staples like the Gravity Suit, etc.

Ah this was such torture to watch him play this game again. A good TIHYDP to be sure, however there's one thing you didn't show off, his sheer stupidity when it came to getting the Gravity Suit. He bumbled around the room for what felt like 5 minutes and thought he needed the plasma beam to get it. Not once did he try jumping into it, he just assumed "It's stuck inside ice.".
My own personal opinion on this game, while I do think the graphical upheaval is amazing I think it lost just a little bit in controls. Every shot now with just the power beam requires a tri-burst of pellets before you can charge a shot which made combat just a bit more inconvenient. A terribly small thing to complain about but it wasn't an issue in the Trilogy. Also not being able to have fire be on ZR felt weird since I was used to it being on B for Trilogy.
I know what I'm watching tonight. Big ups dood.

It amazed me that a guy who plays games for a living sucked so bad when I first watched TIHYDP. It still amazes me he never got any better. Watching this I'm still face palming. I haven't played this game in like 10 years and I could do a bomb jump right now on my first try. How come I've never had the game drop a button input in the last 20 years but it happens to him left and right?
It should be noted I've only played this game on the Cube. Never on Wii. Back in my day we didn't have this newfangled aim and grapple while moving or twist the wrist and hop in morph ball mode. You needed a bomb to bounce. Phil is a terrible gamer and he should be ashamed of himself. I hope he does that stupid Phazon Mine death again where he tries for that artifact and gets wrecked. OMG as I was typing this last part he actually did it again. Epic.

You forgot to mention that Phil not only just paid Rambo during the creation of Project 7, but he only paid him because John forced him to, and only paid Rambo $100 per visit. What a garbage human.
The 'motion control' talk pisses me off SO FUCKING MUCH, even though I should be used to this shit from Phil.
Everything he complains about being worse is 100% the same - you move with a stick in your left hand and jump with a button in your right. Zero difference from MP on the switch.
The camera is bound to the pointer of the wiimote, but I personally wouldn't call that 'motion controls', the only thing I would is flicking the stick up to jump once you have morph ball bomb, which isn't required in any way.

I'm honestly amazed at how his second run of this game is somehow even worse, both in terms of gameplay and commentary, than his already dreadful first go at it on the Wii U... as a Metroid fan, this one was hard to sit through and was only watchable thanks to your editing and commentary. I can see now why you don't want Phil to ever touch Metroid Prime 2; the salt would flow like no tomorrow, but... good lord, would it be a slog to watch without someone like you or another TIHYDP editor to filter through it.
Been hoping to see you cover this one, 0utsyder, especially since your TIHYDP of Phil's original 2015 playthrough of this game was the first video of yours I ever watched. Honestly kinda feels like I've come full circle now with your stuff.

Watching DSP play a game that relies on problem solving and navigating through an environment is hard sometimes. It's like if the game doesn't hold his hand he just gives up and demands someone tell him what to do.
Back once again, can't wait to see how much worse he's gotten. The original TIHYDP is one of my top five favourites so i've been waiting for this expectantly LMAO.
29:00 - he actually died twice in the OG if I remember correctly, once when trying to facetank the beginning of phazon mines which caused his infamous tantrum and ragequit, and again a little later when he went into that one phazon infested morph ball corridor with an artifact in it (you need the Phazon Suit or else you'll die) - he mistook a missile room for a save room shortly before by not reading the text, so he got booted back a very long way and threw a massive tantrum about it. Maybe again at the Omega Pirate?

I know it sounds a bit selfish since it would be horribly long to edit, but I'm honestly not sure he would quit it. He'd probably look everything up though. Ever since the great Ludwig incident I don't think he's ever dropped a game over a boss (at least nothing that wasn't optional, though I don't watch his garbage so I'm not sure).
Malenia _destroyed_ him more times than Ludwig did but he never gave up until he managed to cheese his way to victory because he _knew_ that if he did it would haunt him on the internet forever _just_ like Ludwig does. He can never get rid of the fact that he cried and ragequit a game over a boss (though he did grow a temporary spine and came back later, probably only in an attempt to make the internet shut up about it and get the $$$ from his sheep demanding he finishes Bloodborne).
Man. This was one of the most painful TIHYDPs I've ever sat though. It wasn't funny watching him fail in spectacular fashion (which was rare here) or hearing him saying really outlandish shet (besides things like Metroids not belonging in a METROID game). It was just HOURS of him endlessly complaining and crying like a baby because a game demanded a small microscopic ounce of his attention and skill to play it as intended.
Baby Burnell in his finest hour; needing constant handholding and tissues to wipe his boogers away from all the crying. And in the end he still tries to gaslight us into thinking he had fun (he clearly didn't). I don't know how you mentioned to sit though all this raw footage to make this Outsyder, but massive props to you. 👊🙂

I haven't seen anything DSP in many years so I checked his channel out a bit ago. I am actually surprised he hasn't gotten two fulltime jobs yet but I only looked at a few videos for the last month anyways . His facial hair has gone through some major Chemo. The main takeaway from this video? Well, I have somewhere old save of Metroid Prime on Dolphin emulator. I should boot it up and revisit this game. I don't even remember why I stopped playing it, I was really enjoying it, even that old GameCube version. And, I still have my GameCube disk of Metroid Prime 2: Echos. That was my introduction into Prime series, and what a game, man, what a game.

I think an important distinction needs to be made.
Phil doesn't "Like Dark Souls games" or From games in general, he fundamentally hates them (just watch his original run of DaS1). He "enjoys" that they bump his channel views, tips and subs. Simple as that.

@@PHELTHY49plus20 I haven't played MP1 with the Wii controls but MP3 uses them pretty well, it's one of the better implementations of them. He was mostly complaining about the morph ball sections and I'm pretty sure you just use the stick on the nunchuk for that.
