The first step is to stop.
Once we realize that we have to repent...that we are called to "change our minds"...the first step is to stop. To examine what it is that we are thinking and to which thoughts, sins, and false images of God we have made agreements with. And then to break those agreements in order to say "Now I begin".

I just wanted to share my story with renouncing my sin. For the longest time, I wasn’t really able to forgive myself for having a child born out of wedlock. I have asked forgiveness in confession for a number of times but never really forgave myself. Until one day my precious son went home from school and they just received their first sacrament of reconciliation in preparation for their first holy communion. He was asking me about sins and if God punishes. I told him that God is a forgiving god, and my example was myself, despite having made some wrong choices and mistakes in my life. I still received a really precious gift from God, which is him, my son. He just said to me, “that is called mercy, mama”. I couldn’t stop crying. It made me finally accept that God has forgiven me.
Man your testimony made me shed tears! Love your honesty!!
I guess I haven't gotten there yet. I like you have confessed my sin. But it still haunts me.
I'm a professor at a community college. Spring semester is just about finished AND I am retiring so my old life is just about over. I am both happy and sad, and I hope God still has a purpose for me.
Me too! Always and daily and moment by moment.
@@jdiane44 Jane, God bless you! God bless both of us as we begin again.
I was laid off from a 40 year career as a commercial banker. It was initially devastating. 6 years later, I KNOW that they did me a favor! God knows the plan. Be still and put your faith in Him🕊️He will surprise you! God bless❣️
Of course he does.
Be in Peace and every single day try to be a good instrument in hands of Holy Spirit. Greetings from Poland.
I can't believe how choked up Fr. Mike got when he recalled his childhood. It obviously still bothers him. But WOW, what an impact he is making on so many lives right now! He is so popular and is invited to speak everywhere! God has truly Blessed his servant Fr. Mike. In the name of Jesus, I renounce any negative thoughts or words directed towards Fr. Mike. This world needs more Fr. Mikes!!!!!
Absolutely it still bothers him. Things like that scar people for life. Even if he knows the truth of who he is sometimes retelling something can bring back those feelings.
I see his story as a blessing though and I hope he does too. If he was one of the chosen "popular" kids would he be where he is today. God put him on a path for greatness. He is a leader and a good and holy priest. I pray that he follows God's Will for him throughout the rest of his life here on earth. He has brought me closer to God just like I know many others. He has a gift and he is using it for God's glory. Thank you Lord for giving us Fr. Mike!
Please pray for me father. I love Jesus and want a new start with our Christ.
I pray that you are overwhelmed with Jesus' perfect love and that you are filled with His grace and truth. Amen 🙏
Praying for you
Do everything you do with Christ in your heart. Let him be your goodmorning and your goodnight. May your new beginning be a great one! God bless you. Amen
I renounce all the works of Satan and my sins. I only worship God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit , ever. Please remember me in your prayers, for I am needing surgery, I am scared.😢 Pray the pain will stop and I have courage to go to the hospital or doctor who can help me. Please pray for my son and others in our family, too. I wish them well!
🙏🙏🙏 for you
Fr Mike is allowing the Holy Spirits voice to shine thru. I heard he spends a minimum of 20 hours working/praying on his homilies. I pray I spend more time in prayer and at Adoration that the Holy Spirit can speak to me; to speak thru me. Fr Mike shows us true holiness. He’s powerful. We need to pray for him for protection.
Father Mike you were truly chosen from above as your sermons are relatable in a way like non other.
Well said! I agree
I clicked on the wrong mass for today and the message ( Homily) was for me . “ you did not fail and it’s not game over , it’s just the beginning “
I really needed to hear this words today because I am constantly feeling the burden of my sins but to trust in the great Mercy that Jesus Christ has for me and my family is the only thing that I can lean on each day and gives me the Joy to face my life.
Continually wowed by these homilies. They truly touch me, heart and soul. Thank you Fr Mike for being the beacon of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I went to Mass myself for the first time in my life. Willingly went. Wanted to! Always I had gone with family, and didnt want to. That was when I was a kid. Now Im 32 years old and went to mass on Easter Thursday. It is all thanks to Fr Mike and God ♡♡♡
Father, you were on fire today! It hit home today. Thank you. May the Lord keeps you boldly preaching the word of God. God bless
Inspiring...and so I begin...
IDK how I got here, I was drunk watching youtube but it's cool to know that of all the stuff to click on, I picked Father Mike :)
Father Mike is proof of God’s love, mercy and power to change our hearts.

Thank you for this powerful homily! Do the next right thing👍😇
Not choosable I was not choosable but I was usable and alone. Jesus was my best friend, song and my bike was my church.....
So much truth for me. Praise God!!
I need a fresh start myself! Thanks Fr Mike may the peace 🕊️ of the Lord be with you ❤

Thank you Fr. Mike for this profound homily.
In the name of Jesus I denounce spirit of procrastination and avoidance and claim focus and courage that He has in my life. Now I begin!
"In the name of Jesus, I renounce ..."
I will be adding this to my confessions. I'm filled with immense gratitude Father Mike. Your channel and teachings hold a special place in my heart.
Please pray for all who are in bondage.
It is absolutely fantastic to listen to!!! So right on !!!🥹♥️🙏
I love you FR Mike. I also chose you as my pastor given to me by our Lord Jesus.
Beautiful, Amazing and practical. I renounce all the agreements with lies I’ve made. there are many. Thank you Father Mike!
Fr. Mike, thank you so much for allowing the Holy Spirit to work so powerfully and beautifully through you. You are such a blessing to us all. ❤️💙
This is truly excellent! I’m happy to listen to this today. It’s like to Lord knows where to place me. Thank you Lord! 🙏
I apologize for rambling, but I must give due gratitude.
I have a long and hellish past of sexual trauma and a severe eating disorder, both inextricably intertwined. Those two comments in this homily-- the bit about "if you're not being fed you'll eat anything," even "out of a dumpster", and the story about Jesus giving that girl a "place with the virgins" despite having lost that earthly status decades ago-- they struck me through the heart like a sword. I'm reeling, speechless, stunned. There is a new and shocking hope within my heartache greater than anything I could ever have imagined before-- the hope that Christ could offer the same unfathomable mercy to this used-up, trash-choked reject of a person, too. I never thought that it was possible for a wretch like me TO be loved, especially not so radically. I never thought it was possible to start again, to have a future, to be forgiven. Suddenly it is.
The Lord alone knows how desperately I needed to hear this homily today. Thank you, Father Mike, for speaking His love to us as always. God bless you.
I'm tired of failing my Lord 🥲
What a HOMILY!🙏🙏🙌🏿🙌🏿Thank you Holy Spirit,Thank Yoj Father for sending your servant Father Mike
TRUTH.....So beautiful....Thank You FR Mike for your obedience & boldness in Spirit.
GOD BLESS YOU FATHER MIKE.
WOW that's Powerful and the TRUTH 😮😃😄😇
Thank you......just........ thank you. Amen
I always read comments in Fr Mike's videos about people who watch them and how it spoke to them in ways that are too complex and fitting to be anything but put in your feed by providence. Today, it's my turn. Thank you, Fr. Mike, for passing on Our Lord's message ❤️🔥
It is a True Story.
I remember hearing it .
Thank you father for this beautiful sermon!!! I always pray for you😊
You are the best at putting things into perspective. As always, thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks Father….what joy is God’s love for us. We can repent and begin.
That was a beautiful sermon. Thank you. Lord Jesus, by Your grace, Now, I begin.
Fr Mike you are a gift from God!
Please pray for me Father Mike 🙏🙏🙏
@@LovingtheTruth856 What do you call the man who impregnated your mother, genius?😂
And yes, we can pray with or for one another. You're clueless.
How on earth ! How on earth can you ever just be ….tolerable Father Mike ?
You are the complete man, drop dead gorgeous ( forgive me🤣) kind, funny, friendly and oh so human….. your contemporaries were probably jealous of all these qualities….!
❤❤
That's what I was thinking!!!
Thank you for the story of Margaret. To know Our Beloved Lord Loves us and forgive us. Forgiveness of self is so hard.
Wow! Excellent sermon Father Mike! God bless you! Have a wonderful week! Praying for you! 🥰🙏🏼❤️
Thank you, Fr. Mike. This was so powerful & broken down with such clarity and humanity. Love your examples. God bless you in all you do 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
I am half way through reading the book "Unbound" in preparation of a follow up prayer of deliverance this week. I heard this homily this morning and realized this God incidence is a sign and reassurance from God to me. He loves us and wants us to belong totally to Him forever FREE of bondage from the lies that the devil has made us believe throughout our lives. Only in Jesus resides the Power and Authority to set us free. Blessings.
This was exceptionally helpful.
I received Holy Communion in mortal sin and I haven't been able to find the Sacrament of Confession to go.
Pretty sure the story he tells here is about St Margaret of Cortona who happens to be my “Saint of the Year”. I identify with her life story so much. I’ve actually been forgetting to ask for her intercession in the things that are holding me back so this came at a good time. St. Margaret of Cortona, pray for us! ❤
Thanks!
Thank you Father Mike, such true words full of Mercy and Love. Bless be Jesus!
In Jesus Name, God’s Love and Mercy are greater than all the lies I’ve made agreement with, ALLELUIA!!!!!!❤❤❤
Fr. Mike and all, may the peace of our Lord be with you from your own healing according to God'swill. A wonded healer will heal, like Fr. Henri Nouwen, by our Lord.
Peace be. Thanks for renewing life. Happy to share that your testimony states that truth is with us yesterday, today, forever no matter what time, place, shade. 25:49
This video was so much healing power!
I would recommend that you watch this at a time when you can sit quietly by yourself, with time afterwards to ask God to show you those lies you have believed, and write them down. It will abundantly bless you. Thank you and bless you, Fr. Schmitz.
I agree!
There is NOTHING in life more essential than God! For so long I could not figure out that while I have so much that I felt I had so little. I could not explain the emptiness I felt every night when I went to bed or that feeling of being so incomplete… when i finally listened to God calling me to put him first, i quickly realized that i have nothing without Him but have everything with Him… i can not do anything without Him but can accomplish and overcome anything with Him. Since I have made him my number one priority, everything has changed and i finally feel complete!!
I was so touched by the story of Margaret this week, and Father Mike's own vulnerability. Last week too, I am still thinking about the radical mercy discussed. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world.
Fr Mike, you are right. This is how all good liars spread their poison - it is based in some truth / has a component of truth - so people, not knowing all the devil’s detail, believe it!
Fr Mike - I would always invite you - you are brilliant.
Now I begin...Metanoia...Fr.Mike you have the best homilies as always...God bless you 🙏
🙏
Thank you Fr Mike, I hear your homilies on Hallow app, but wanted a link that I can send my family who are not interested in this app. I am glad your homilies are recorded and can be viewed on CZcams. I pray for you every time I hear your voice open in prayer and thanksgiving for a moment in prayer. May God bless you abundantly with what your heart need and soul need to continue your inspirational explanations, talks and homilies. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Beautiful! A really needed message among the faithful...
Thank you and Bless you✝️
Thank you! I think this, and the one about our broken hearts would make a good silent retreat. I didn't know that in confession we need to renounce that agreement. I wouldn't say what the agreement was that was made in my heart and mind. Especially, when you're the proverbial "sister" that was made to believe she's evil or no good and most likely before the age of reason(it becomes your identity) and at almost at the age of 70 I still struggle to reject the agreement.😌
This Easter and it's Octave? Glorious! Glorious! Glorious! Love is alive!!! Truly!🌸🌷💐 ✝ 🌸🌷💐
So much of what you said is true about myself. I feel that I am just tolerated even by family members, I feel that I am unwanted in many gatherings to the point I feel I have to invite myself. What I am most fearful of is that I won't be invited or accepted in heaven. I fear that final judgment more than anything else in the world. I often wonder if the Protestants have it right. They believe they're going to heaven no matter what. We Catholics are always left with the uncertainty of where we'll end up. I will try father Mike's suggestion and hope for the best, that it will help me change my mind set.
I agree that the Catholic faith makes it hard to believe that most of us will make it to heaven so we live our lives in fear of God and His judgment. After listening to at least a hundred near death experience stories, I have come to believe in a God of mercy and unbelievable love. While I believe most religions use fear of hell to control people, which may help some people to live ethnically, it also keeps us from truly loving a God who might not let us or our loved ones into heaven because we aren't good and holy enough. I'm choosing to believe that God is love and that most if not all of us will spend eternity with Him. Most people who have a hellish NDE are those who have been raised in a religion that teaches how easy it is to go to hell.
Know that you aren't alone. I am like this. And there are many others like us. But remember, it's our perseverance. He wants not our perfection. He just wants us to choose Him, and when we fall, to get back up. He is loving just as much as He is just. And know that if you were not wanted, He would not have created you. But He did. So you have worth now. You mean something. You did not have to exist, but God wanted you so much that He chose you to exist. We are His little ones just as much as He is our Father. You are dearly loved and deeply cherished. I pray this may be your reminder. I had prayed about this very thing this morning, which is why your comment stuck out to me, and I hope by sharing what He shared with me this morning, it may bring you some comfort.
I feel the same with others and family. I can relate too. This scripture has helped me and I hope it helps you too.
Sirach (Ecclesiasticus)
{2:1} Son, when thou comest to the service of God, stand in justice and in fear, and prepare thy soul for temptation.
{2:2} Humble thy heart, and endure: incline thy ear, and receive the words of understanding: and make not haste in the time of clouds.
{2:3} Wait on God with patience: join thyself to God, and endure, that thy life may be increased in the latter end.
{2:4} Take all that shall be brought upon thee: and in thy sorrow endure, and in thy humiliation keep patience.
{2:5} For gold and silver are tried in the fire, but acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.
{2:6} Believe God, and he will recover thee: and direct thy way, and trust in him. Keep his fear, and grow old therein.
{2:7} Ye that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy: and go not aside from him lest ye fall.
{2:8} Ye that fear the Lord, believe him: and your reward shall not be made void.
{2:9} Ye that fear the Lord hope in him, and mercy shall come to you for your delight.
{2:10} Ye that fear the Lord, love him, and your hearts shall be enlightened.
{2:11} My children behold the generations of men: and know ye that no one hath hoped in the Lord, and hath been confounded.
{2:12} For who hath continued in his commandment, and hath been forsaken? or who hath called upon him, and he despised him?
{2:13} For God is compassionate and merciful, and will forgive sins in the day of tribulation: and he is a protector to all that seek him in truth.
{2:14} Woe to them that are of a double heart and to wicked lips, and to the hands that do evil, and to the sinner that goeth on the earth two ways.
{2:15} Woe to them that are fainthearted, who believe not God: and therefore they shall not be protected by him.
{2:16} Woe to them that have lost patience, and that have forsaken the right ways, and have gone aside into crooked ways.
{2:17} And what will they do, when the Lord shall begin to examine?
{2:18} They that fear the Lord, will not be incredulous to his word: and they that love him, will keep his way.
{2:19} They that fear the Lord, will seek after the things that are well pleasing to him: and they that love him, shall be filled with his law.
{2:20} They that fear the Lord, will prepare their hearts, and in his sight will sanctify their souls,
{2:21} They that fear the Lord, keep his commandments, and will have patience even until his visitation,
{2:22} Saying: If we do not penance, we shall fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men.
{2:23} For according to his greatness, so also is his mercy with him.
A priests once gave me as penance after confession to use the Rosary and on each of the small beads say "Jesus I Trust in You" . He said do it often.

Love this so much! Thank you now I know what I need to do is renounce all my childhood heartaches in the name of Jesus
Wow, thank you for this insightful homily, Fr. Mike! I will try praying in the name of Jesus as you've taught me. 🙏
When we start new in the Lord and get it that we are beautifully made in the image of God, then we are able to effectively participate in freeing others from the same prison.
Very moving. Thanks so much!
Great preacher
Thank you!
I heard all my life be like my little brother but not like my older brother but never be who God made you
Thank you for this excellent homily! Yes, indeed, this very day, now we begin. Nunc coepi!
i am sure humans are tired of sin, having to think about sin and the consequences of sin
The Almighty is the air that I breathe!
This speaks so much to me. The Diocese has told us they’re closing our Catholic School because it’s a financial burden. They were offered to let us run an independent Catholic school so we could continue to evangelize but remove the financial risk from the parish. This structure still requires close collaboration and cooperation with the parish and diocese. They said no. We aren’t sure why other than they don’t want to get into a relationship with an “independent” Catholic school and they would rather not let our students and teachers go and try to bring back an elementary school only in a few years. It is so disheartening. We are appealing to Rome. This message gives me some hope.
Wow! Father, that was a powerful homily. Thank you for reminding me how much God loves me and forgives my sins. Thank you Jesus. 🙏❤📿✝️
Amen. 🙏
Thank you Fr Mike.
