  • This is the First Floor Slab or the Slab Works.
This video cover other specific details like:
    - Slab Wooden Formwork : This a professional carpenter's work. He's responsible for the slab's framework, thus, working to detail as the blueprint (building plan) depicts by accurately assembling boards with precise measurements and ensuring structural integrity.
NB : Formworks can be done with various materials such as timber (as shown), plywood/marine boards, plastic...etc.
these are all great and they do have their advantages and their disadvantages per location, accessibility and cost.
Projects close to forest zones may find timber option a favorable choice and others at a distance may have another alternative. As long as a professional is handling the project, it's all good. So exercise due diligence before committing to specific type.
    - Steel Reinforcement : This a professional steel bender's work. He's responsible for marking, cutting and bending of rebars using hand or power tools effectively, fabricating, placing and fixing reinforcement at the desired location using correct ties within specified time and tolerance.
NB : Upon all the places to act smart, don't act smart here!. Buy the material type and preferrable choice and quantity given to you by the engineer or the Professional steel bender. I always say, the iron rods are the skeletal framework of the building, and you don't wanna have a weak skeletal framework, do you?
    - Electricals - This is the work of a professional ECG approved electrician's job. He is responsible for installing conduit pipes, slab boxes and other electrical items such as fan hooks... etc. along a rebar mesh and then concrete is poured over everything, creating a concrete slab with boxes and pipes encased within for later use.
NB : This is not the "wiring" itself, but rather the fixing of pvc pipes and other stuff to create a provisional passage for the wires to later pass through the hardened slab at the real wiring level.
    - Plumbing - This is the work of a professional plumber. He is Responsible for installing all pipes for water, drainage, sewage and sometimes gas systems according to specifications.
NB : This is not the "Plumbing" itself, but rather the fixing of pvc pipes to create a provisional passage for water, sewage, drainage or gas.
    - Casting - This is the job for masons and or assistants/laborers supervised by an engineer or a foreman.
They are responsible for preparing, pouring and finishing concrete surfaces and ensuring the durability and quality of the concrete work.
NB : Upon all the places to act smart and economist, don't be that here!. Buy the right amount of cement bags given to you by the professional (if the number of bags is alarming, buy what you think it's ok but have the rest at an arms reach, just so it doesn't delay the work or compromise the quality.)
Using 42.5R cement is not a bad idea as well.
    NB:
    1. In terms of DIY construction, get yourself a supervisor at this stage. It entails a lot to identify mistakes or contribute to its structural integrity.
