Zbukvic is the John Singer Sargent of watercolor. He does not tarry on needless all-over details. He sets the structures and knows exactly where and how to IMPLY detail. Just a dot, dash or stroke. Genius.
John Singer Sargent was the John Singer Sargent of watercolor!
Seriously though, I can see the similarities between the two. Though I would say that Zbuvic has a bit more abstraction. If only Sargent was more serious about his watercolors!
Don't state, insinuate.
*_This is probably one of the most inspiring watercolor tutorials on CZcams, watching one of the greatest living water colorists in the world display his talent._*
Şpçipğşpğ
I learned more from watching Joseph paint this than one entire year of school.
I agree with that.100%
Un super pédagogue.Merci maître.
I can't believe that we get to see this master at work free!!!! Omg
He's not just a master in watercolours but also a master in his own spirit, his words really inspire me, it's more than just the word inspire
Just an amazing artist of our times. Mind blown.
Only in my wildest dreams could I paint like that with water colors! Amazing!
You can do it!
I've watched this video probably over 20 times now over the course of 7 years. never get sick of it. Thank you Graeme for doing what you do and your genuine reactions.
Thank you Baris. Its comments like yours that make me happy about starting CIYL from the beginning. it has been a very tough but inspiring journey. There is more to come , Graeme

He is easily one of the best Watercolorists in the world. A lot of watercolorists nowadays try to imitate his works/style. He has inspired many other artists.
As a person learning watercolor and exploring CZcams for tutorials, instruction, inspiration, etc I see many many people imitating this exact style.
You gotta be loose, you must let the water be the master. This is what I’ve learned and it’s oh so important. Don’t strive for perfection, but trust in your own eyes and instincts
If this doesn't inspire you to pick up your brushes nothing will! Listening to Joseph talking about his processes, watching his painting grow and hearing his comments is instructive and fascinating - thankyou for this!
My, God, he's a genius !!!! I'm utterly amazed at how fast he works and every mark is perfectly placed. I drive myself crazy with "perfection" which never looks natural. This is a real inspiration. Thank you so much for uploading it, Graeme !
It's been 10 years, and this is still probably the best watercolor tutorial period (three amigos is up there too!) I find myself coming back to it time and time again. Thanks Gramme and of course Mr.Joe!
Thanks Gerald, we had a great couple of days filming them
The way he prepared his foto referance is genius.. what a great artist..
Prekrasan rad, kao i sva druga dijela, ovog sjajnog majstora. Veliki sam obožavatelj iako sam tek nedavno otkrila tu ljepotu i talent ovog virtuoza kistom.
Thank you Both !
Sorry I only found this now!
Joseph Z your talent is exceptional!!!
grateful for this to exist!
Thank you for your kind comments, Graeme
Absolutely mesmorized by watching Joseph Zbukvic create a painting ! He is amazing !!
This guy is the best watercolour artist I've ever seen.
I think a lot of an artists skill comes from being able to get a good painting from a subject normal people would find mundane.
They can see things in a totally different way.
zenoist2 He is easily one of the best Watercolorists in the world. A lot of watercolorists nowadays try to imitate his works/style. He has inspired many other artists.
opan pro....yeah almost every watercolorist doing this kind of paintings is trying to copy his or Alvaro's style. Some are just plain rip off to be very honest.
he makes it seem so effortless, like painting these amazing pieces is no harder than taking a breath. when he laid in the red on the tail lights i couldnt believe how RIGHT that looked even though the left side of my mind said "no no no thatll never work". just incredible, talk about inspiring.
Bosco26726 bold!
I remember watching this 6 years ago when i first started watercolour. Now i watch it just for the faith, when im crapping myself over a large difficult piece. Thanks. (Knew it was gonna hit 1m views, it got their eventually)
Müthiş show ustadan,harika ve unutulmazdı.
A self taught wizard with the brush strikes-- incredible control, but looks so free and easy-- wow!
Watching him work brings tears to my eyes...so incredible. Thank you, Graeme.
I don't know if watching him work brought tears to my eyes but there's something inspiring and amazing at watching a talented and highly skilled artisan perform at their best.
hmmm true
When faced with this level of vision - and mastery over materials, one just stands back and admires.
The man the myth the legend... and Joseph Zbukvic
THIS MAN IS THE MASTERPAINTER ONBELIEVABLE...
If there is only one good watercolor artist in the word, it's you ! best or nothing !
These 3 Artists are incredible ❤

I HAVE NO WORDS FOR.....SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL WOW!!!!!
Australia is very blessed in having a glorious living watercolorist such as Joseph. I have enjoyed his books and videos along with precious memories watching him perform in a demo class. 🙏
I have my own painting channel, and I am devastated to get thumbs down. And people give this one also thumbs down??? are they blind?? Joseph is a genius!!
there are just people you can't please Edo, LOL, Graeme
@@ColourinyourlifeAu This video did please me more then a few times! I keep coming back! Thanks for the subscription Graeme!! appreciate it!
Where abouts do you live Edo. I am expanding CIYL across the world now to different countries and with other hosts as well and I am looking for other Artists to work with in varying countries to get the series onto other TV channels. Would you be interested in having a talk?, Graeme
@@ColourinyourlifeAu I live in the Netherlands, near Amsterdam always interested in talking about watercolour! sounds good!!
I'm looking for enthusiastic Artists to approach TV stations in the various countries they live in, in regards to either selling the series to a distribution agent or TV channel, or to just get the series onto public TV stations in those countries. If you are interested send me your email address and I can send you some more information. I have filmed 250 Artists in the last 8 years and would give you a good percentage if you were to get in deals in the Netherlands, Graeme
I think I've watched this three times over the years. CZcams thought that wasn't enough and put it back into my recommendations again.... and, of course, I watched it again!
One of my favourites. Amazing work, lovely guy. 👍👍👍👍👍
Recollected memory! !
EXCELLENT....
138 dislikes !!! Really??? I have a theory this is just one jealous ,sad prig, pressing his button 138 times. This video is so inspirational - to all of us who appreciate a true master of his craft. It's hard to hold back the tears in the face of such genius - I salute you Joseph - and many thanks for sharing.
yes you are right, there are just some simple minded people that have nothing in their lives except to try and drag others down. I love them, as it tells me how great my life has been and how ordinary theirs has been, LOL
dreamikins it’s the music
Maybe Pekel and Alvaro are hitting it for a laugh.
Yeah its a bit weird that people don't get the amazing talent they are looking at. Generally people with no talent do stuff like this, LOL
Right
I watch this video over and over again. I love watching him creating art and listening to his inspiring Tips
Amazing! Nothing but total respect for the artist. I can't believe he did this video for us.
simply a kiss for your amazing painting ....i became mad of it

I always come back to this. He is a living master, a legend.
This was the first 'Colour in Your Life' I ever saw and after having a bash with a brush myself, now sit here still shaking my head saying 'WOW' throughout. Very much the Master.
I honestly do not have a word for this extraordinary masterpiece. I am speechless. Step by step, the master craftsman at his work! Bravo! Semper Fidelis

I'm in tears of joy, that I'm able to watch such a beautiful lesson.
Glad you liked the episode Daratha, Graeme
Some people just have it. What a painter.
just fantastic, so simple. So interesting the way Joseph ads suggestive strokes to his photoraphic image first - fabulous. - then paints from that - WOW
Great 😊👌 nice 🎨🌍
Once a while I come back to watch this video, I found it helpful everytime I watch it. And I had been doing this for two years ! This is how powerful Joseph is !
Zbukvic probably spent a few lifetimes as a painter, or he simply loves the creation of a story for people to enjoy. Either way, he does truly lend a clarity to scenes you don't see often.
Amazing, truly a genius
One of the best CZcams channels available
I saw this demo by Mr Zbukvic about 2 years ago and was completely blown away. If it was up to me you would be knighted Sir Joseph for your amazing contribution to art in general and watercolour painting in particular.
Graeme, please please post more such videos with the inspirational Joseph. Thank you so much for posting this video.
Outstanding sense of color and ambience.
What an amazing artist.
Incredible. A great Master

The reference picture became a real piece of art when he worked on it!!
Thank you Joseph,wonderful piece.
Joseph makes it look so effortless. Lovely to watch him work.
Memories of Vancouver, and the most life changing workshop I have ever known. Mr. Bead has a cult that only expands world-wide.
Yes Mr Bead indeed, LOL
Hi, this is Paulo Franchini from São Paulo, Brazil. Thank you very much for this remarkable class with talented Mr Joseph Zbukvic. His technique is awesome and I have learned a lot with it.
This is without a doubt the best, most inspiring watercolour lesson I've seen.
I never cease to be amazed by the watercolor creations of Joseph Z. Many thanks for sharing this video interview and demonstration.
“Technique doesn’t harm your painting but the lack of confidence “ >>>> whole lessons on youtube ❤

nice to see a master work. I love your art Joseph Zbukvic. I hope one day have the opportuny to shake your hand and see you working.
WOW, hate using that word but this man is mind blowing. The best thing I'm taking away from this video, is to paint with confidence, do what feels right to you the painter.
Wow this guy is brave and bold! Amazing how not being so timid with the paint really pays off. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful talent with all of us
Watercolor is so intimidating to me, yet he makes it look so easy.
Speechless!!

Uh-kai, at was rarely grite. I love Mr. Zbukvic's work. He is truly a Baroque master, that is to say, an artist that conveys drama. Or should I say: conv-eyes draumah... Ha ha, I love Australia.

Total genius.Amazing creative imagination and skill. The best ever.A revolution in technique and style in watercolour painting.
Awesome! So talented !
Thank you so so so much. I am just speechless!
Hervorragend demonstriert. Sehr modern, wie fotografiert.
Graeme I had to come back to watch again after a long time since I first viewed this post. I think some of the dislikes are more about style preferences rather than a rejection of Joe's work in total. I like what he does, not high art but fantastic skill and craft. He's a master for sure. Thanks again for this post and the inspiration it gives me in my own work.
Thank you we need more like this video👍💕
I can't help but laugh when I watch artists like Joseph work - canvas to masterpiece in a few short minutes.
Nathan Meaux Plus 50 years of experience.

Perfect! The looseness and brushe strokes, with the contrast of detail bring it all together! Wonderful!
Judy Salinsky Thanks Judy, Joseph certainly is the master of watercolour.
Graeme Stevenson (Colour in Your Life) I am happy to say, I will be able to meet Joseph in Fallbrook California for his demo! I was unable to make his class last year, it was completely booked!
