How?
Lots of practice, luck, and reloading of saves. No tape on the screen (not that I’d think it’d help anyways due to variable arrow arc/drop and bow range)
Tips on using bows: you sway side to side when aiming, so you want to get used to how much you sway, and fire when you sway into your target. Aim in their general direction, draw, then wait for you bow to sway right over them. Knowing which part of the bow is “straight” can be a bit tricky, since it changes with the power/range of the bow, your arrows, and your zoom factor changes as you level up your bow level (zoom changes every 5 levels or so). Practice aim with hunting, and distance with the log-shooting archery mini game. You stop swaying at level 20 (if you make it there).
For example, drawing the elm longbow takes 3.2 seconds, and the sway starts from left to right. Aim at target on the draw, then wait for the sway to go right over the target. Usually I aim a little lower than what I’m trying to hit, with the arrow shaft sighted to the right, slightly ahead of the target. Arrows tend to fire higher than where you’re aiming along the arrow shaft, and to the left (where the arrow is nocked). Hitboxes are tight, so gaps in the helmet actually count as unarmored! Practice makes perfect, and stealth helps a lot! Good luck :)

Are you guys joking or serious? Archery becomes so OP after some practice. Dont even want to hunt for cash anymore because it ruins the economics imo
You know, I’ve always loved the fact that the game has this dot in the middle of the screen that has 0 uses throughout the entire playthrough, and in the only case where it could (and should) be used - aiming with a bow - it disappears.
The dot actually helps some people stave off their motion sickness. Other than that, yep it is useless.
I put a little bit of sticky tack over the dot so I have a makeshift reticle for archery haha
U can use console comand to make this dot stay when u r aiming

This, from an indie/small company perspective, is a huge success that has given them the spotlight in the international market and created a following/fans that will be willing to buy more products from them.
Thats a huge win and reminds me of CD Project red the creators of Witcher, go and play the first Witcher, it is bad compared to the other releases that same year like Assassin Creed, Bioshock, Oblivion and team fortress 2. Witcher 2 was better but they finally hitted the Jackpot/international recognition with Witcher 3, that is 2015, that is 8 years after Witcher 1.
In summary, any publicity is great, they are known across the world now and this only means there will be more demand for games and money going to their pockers as a result. I would never consider that as underrated specially with their humble origins.

The bow is really really strong, some people don't seem to hit anything with it however.
I mean, it kinda has to hit hard to make up for the effort it takes to hit the mark.

Given you've managed to overcome the learning curve, archery is sleeper OP especially combined with riding. Don't think I've ever met a non-scripted mounted archer. MC can pretty much kite for ages as long as he has enough ammo.
Mounted archers were OP IRL for a very long amount of time.

i saw someone in redidit put an actual crosshair on his screen and he said it was pretty easy. I didnt want to ruin my monitor so I tried the Crosshair v2 in Microsoft Store. It was pretty easy killing everyone in the game now. hehe. Plus I drink Bowman Potion. It adds 5 levels. Its easy as heck. Pretty OP if you those things.

There's a mod to add the reticule in, plus it'd super easy once you reach Bow 5, becomes more stable and faster draw speed. Practice on animals or do archery contests for exp and cash
Easily one of the best games ive ever played. I really hope in KCD2 they dont dumb it down and keep the combat hyper realistic and hard af with the steepest learning curve imaginable. Im not joking this game was near perfect.

Yeah the combat system has to remain not dumbed down. However, it needs some major reforms, as the system is very imbalanced, to the point where, if you just want surefire wins instead of fun fights, it's not deep, complex or hyper realistic, and doesn't have a hard learning curve at all. Just wait for the enemy to attack and spam Q.

I get that bows were heavier in the middle ages, but there is none of that sway you see in game, also, you can use the tip of your arrow as kind of a crosshair, where you aim depends on the style you're shooting, and how you grip the bow and/or how you rest your fingers on the arrow.
What is unrealistic about the game i that the arrows fly straight ahead, that implies Henry has some experience with how a bow functions, since the path the arrow takes is dictated mainly by the release, wich is hard to get right for a rookie
I love the progression of using a bow in this game. At first it was frustrating becuase how bad Henry was and how unexperienced i was without a crosshair. But now i enjoy trying to do long daring shots and sniping bunnies and deer from horseback. Such a great game
The sense of accomplishment gets even higher when you can hit a fast moving rabbit from far away.

Naked dudes without weapons sprinting in circles, buffeting the player and making defence really difficult all the while the lock on feature required for fighting is too slow to keep up. Tripping over your dog in combat.. Form over function fighting moves. Bushes being more solid than the ground. Stuff like that, stuff that makes you cringe and think "I wish it didn't work like that". The game is a hot mess and a masterpiece at the same time.

Theres a reason there is a limit on saves to prevent save scumming.

Bow is easily the most powerful weapon in this game. When I was attacked by 4 enemies, my sword was useless but the moment I equipped my bow, I turned into Robin Hood.

@@Whiskers4169 Nah, using a sword against 4 or more enemies is going to send you to your grave very quickly in this game. It's not about the skill, more about the realism of that.

I have always prefered silent killing with a dagger, but bow is also nice!
Honestly, stealth is so rewarding in this game.
That being said when scouting prybyslavitz I ended up running naked through the camp, lighting arrow bundles on fire while 20 bandits were on my tail

In all honesty, after 40 hours i stopped playing, because i hate when games give you 100 quests and you can never finish them all and have your quest log clear. I dropped skyrim and the witcher 3 bc of that (but finished the witcher 2 twice, it's much simpler and more enjoyable to me). But i can say, while the genre is not for me, kingdom come is the best in the genre for sure

I understand burning out very well. Getting overwhelmed by never ending quests is why I struggle to, or just don't play MMOs.
At least in most SP RPGs not evey quest is the same. Interesting encounters and a game world that moves at my pace make for a very enjoyable experience.

Bit of advice tip all your arrows with Dollmaker it's a bit useless on a sword but with a bow any enemy it procs on cannot sprint or even jog.
That's right they have to slow walk which is slower than the default back peddle

Most satisfying game feeling of getting a head shot on a moving target from a great distance.
I was grinding bow and strength before the first main battle. During Nest of Vipers I pretty much cleared pribyslavitz using a a bow lol.
Currently at Bow 14 and I'm loving it but I'm almost at the end. Now, I wanna replay it and grind Bow to 20 early.
When it was launched, the combat training was bugged, so this is me, completely accurate 👌🏽💛
Man archery is the most difficult thing to master in this game but once you do it's a great feeling

Considering the game take place during the late middle age bohemia (one of the more wealthy parts of the HRE), there should have been a lot of crossbow, and possibly even some guns. Heck, the trebuchet quest even references cannons at some point.
@@sasi5841 yea but this was before hussite wars so gunpowder guns may not be popular at that time or not in use yet. Also i agree with the crossbows, should have been in the game it is alot easier using a Xbow then a bow it's usually better for mercenaries but not exactly better then a bow bcs bows are much faster and mobile but requries much more skill
@@sasi5841 also there was cannons in 1403 but not much in europe even in ottoman empire. Altough there is some article that saying cannons used in 1350-1400 and that artillery began as an institution in the ottoman army by beyazid
also for a example Battle of Ankara, 1402 year before in the game time Bayezid I vs Tamerlane i am for sure there wasn't any cannons in that battle cannons are for sieges and they are very slow to make or move and handguns or handcannons came after that i think after 1405 gunpowder really becoming to popular in battles

Started playing again recently and it's so op. Outnumbered 5 v 1? No problem, as long as you got decent plate. Just tank the hits and bow them. Finding spots they can't get to is easy enough as well.
He is an archer of his realm!

Yeah but then they make it over deadly when you level it up. Even hitting them in the face should only at worst stun a person wearing plate, and Warhorse knows this.

@@o.o.p.s1171 it's same, there will be bandists even if u kill all of them before. And in my playtrough I have killed everybody except people in ratay coz there is too many protected npc.
@@o.o.p.s1171 a few days ago I killed almost all the bandits in vranik I might have gotten them all actually and there was the same amount in the battle.
it gets easier the more you use the bow, the technique is patience and timing, i dunno if the level affects the sway, but you could count the seconds of the swaying and the moment where it hits the middle of what you think the arrow's point is, that's the moment of release. i count by "one-two-shoot" repeatedly, and somehow you can see an imaginary crosshair by the time you get used to it

stealth is probaply one of the hardest things to balance, its ether broken / doesn't work or just op.
If I remember correctly, in KCD soon as you're under 20 visibility you're basically invisible :D

Excellent. I'm just to the point where I can ace the archery competitions in Rattay, but I have a long way to go before I'm this good. I fell in love with the bow the first time I hit a guy running towards me in the teeth and he dropped like a sack of potatoes.

Archery was nuts. Back when I played I'd handle most bandit encounters by kiting on my horse and shooting my bow at them.
I'd fight with my sword just for fun. Henry becomes a terminator towards the end of the game though so really anyway you wanna kill can be easy mode.
I like that people are beginning to comprehend the game. On a surface level at least.
The biggest giveaway that someone didn't spend 5-15 minutes learning fighting in this game is whining about the combat being bad!

In real life you can't really fight more than 2 people simultaneously as well, since you must focus on one opponent at a time to read his movements, just like in KCD. The Game never recommends you to fight while outnumbered and gives you way easier ways to deal with multiple opponents like speech, stealth, archery, food poisoning etc. However, it IS actually possible to fight 3,4 or even 5 opponents at a time, you can find numerous videos on youtube. it Just takes some mad skills, just like in real life again
@@Averageenjoyer-br1zm doesn't take mad skills just getting used to it but i got used to it by fighting captain Bernard and maxing out all melee skills, like in real life swords are overated they are most useful as a rampage weapon against peasants,maces are best weapons in the game cheap and carry you through a bandit or a knight
