Eine internationale Gruppe von Liebhabern amphibischer Fahrzeuge, die weder organisiert noch einen Verein bilden, trifft sich seit 1987 regelmäßig einmal im Jahr in einem anderen europäischen Land. Vom 2. bis 9. August 2014 findet zum 4. Mal innerhalb der 28-jährigen Geschichte das internationale Treffen in Deutschland
Von den Amphibcars entstanden zwischen 1960 und 1963 nur 3878 Stück, bevor der Hauptabsatzmarkt USA auch aufgrund neuer Sicherheitsvorschriften einbrach. Ohnehin war ein Schwimmwagen mit 10 500 Mark Neupreis (doppelt so viel wie ein VW Käfer) für Otto-Normalverbraucher damals schlicht zu teuer. Heute zahlen Liebhaber für ein gepflegtes Amphibcar weit mehr als den fünffachen Euro-Betrag. In Traben-Trarbach stand während des Treffens ein seltener Scheunenfund für 15 000 Euro zum Verkauf - in einem erbärmlichen Zustand ohne Motor, Getriebe und Antriebswelle: " - Auta a dopravní prostředky

The Army Corps of Engineers and Coast Guard could learn a lot from these drivers. Such vehicles would be perfect in hurricane-devastated areas.
And love the Schwimmwagen.
The US Coast Guard used the DUKW after ww2. Like into the late 1950’s for that very reason.

i wonder why amphibi car not that famous.This sort of vehicle practical to country or community that live by the river especially those that always fear of flood season.Of course it gotta be cheap to produce.with rise of EV market nowadays nothing is impossible.I'll buy that for a dollar :)

Our road cars of the day rusted underneath at the same rate as the Amphicar that had the occasional dip in the river... Find an old Wheeler Dealer program where they restored an amphicar and it nearly sank on the River Thames.
