1:17 Thus cord is so good. Really emphasized the whole hypnosis bit with really nice cords and memoirs that the dazzlings used. They may be evil, but they are good at singing.
The "good at singing" bit is kind of the point of their characters. They're Sirens, they're supposed to be good at singing to cast their spell. Anyways, I agree that it was a good part, I can always imagine the Hypnosis scene there.
4:20-6:09: This was definitely Sunset Shimmer's moment and hour of triumph. Welcome to the Equestria Girls group, Element of Empathy. Or maybe she represents the Element of Redemption. Either way, she's back, y'all.
"Dang the Dazzlings/Sirens are so much better than the Rainbooms ://" ok yeah but that's the entire point. In terms of quality, the Sirens are superior by a landslide, and that's why this was so terrifying for the Rainbooms - but they had no choice but to try and win if it meant freeing their school from the Sirens' control. The Sirens basically sound professional thanks to their magic, while the Rainbooms are literally just a high school band with no real professional training. But of course, as is the moral of the story so many times in MLP, there is something the sirens lack that the Rainbooms don't - it's the magic of friendship. Even though these seven individuals have such different personalities and backgrounds, they were able to come together and make a song derived from having fun and their love for their friends, contrasting heavily with the Sirens' song meant to hypnotize for power. Perhaps in terms of quality, the Dazzlings/Sirens are better. But the Rainbooms don't care. They're not trying to be popular. They're just having fun and want to help their friends. Besides, isn't having fun the most important aspect of creative hobbies like songwriting/singing?
It's been a long time since 2014 but I'm still impressed by how good the Rainbow Rocks soundtrack is. The last part of this song still gives me the chills.
@@twist_ending7545 I would assume so, because it's in the official version and it narratively makes sense. This is a scene where the sirens not only power up, but show their normal forms. I would imagine this was added to emphasize that their human disguise is coming off.
I absolutely love how you can lose yourself in The Dazzlings’ songs, like their siren effect is legitimately there While the Rainbooms have more fun and catchy toons that snaps you out of it and makes you want to dance and feel joy Bravo song makers! :00
I'm currently writing a musical that i imagine to be for a teen or even adult audience, but it owes the flow/form of its big climactic number to this one. I'm sure "the good and bad guys trade off, the latter seeming to win before an impactful solo by a struggling/redeemed character changes the course of the battle" isn't UNIQUE to Rainbow Rocks, but this take on it was iconic enough that it's still what i think of.
What a fascinating version. I definitely like the instrumentals of the album version better but the vocals are amazing! Is there a version like this of Battle of the Bands? I can't find one.
MLP has so many AMAZING songs, but this is 100% one of the best ones. I get chills and tear up every time I hear it. Both sides of the song (the Rainbooms and the Dazzlings) are so powerful and beautiful.
Another comment, but in this version you can hear Applejack’s voice in the first Rainbooms song, and the harmonies in the background sound so much better!!!
when the harmonies start kickin' in at 0:15 -- why is no one talking about the harmonies at the very start of the song like??? It caught me so off-guard, I didn't hear it back then but now I do-- I especially like the ones at 0:28 - 0:37
Showing off: I used this for an awesome story idea! Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina are sirens like the Dazzlings (feeding off of the opposite energy from them though). A villainess named Shadow manipulates them and the girls here into fighting with THIS song, she trashed the Wonder Colts’ reputation and uses it and this “hero” mission to get them to fight. Making the Rainbooms believe they were on par with the Dazzlings (the princesses’ arch enemies at the time) and the jewels they have on their dresses are actually part of them, not their dresses (which is true) and they serve the same purpose as the Dazzlings’ necklaces. HOWEVER the thing is... they don’t feed on this energy for power... it’s LITERALLY food to them. She trashed the Wonder Colts’ reputation to make the Princesses hate them, and she had a servant carve a fake prophecy and throw dirt onto it to make it look like it’s been there for as long as the actual prophecy, along with pretending to drop an object to help read it. The Princesses hear about the Wonder Colts’ “bad reputation” the Rainbooms hear about their so-called “conspiracy” with the Dazzlings, and Shadow tricks the Princesses into doing something ACTUALLY dangerous to lead the Titans on as well, (the “Teen Titans Go!” Titans) almost tricking the Wonder Colts into causing them to starve to death... until DarkStar raced into the blast and shielded the Princesses before their cores would end up shattered... NOW IS THAT AN “AWESOME” VILLAIN PLOT OR “WHAT”?! 🦹🏻♀️
Reuploaded because the vocals are much nicer sounding in this version
