Not only a great mechanic..but funny as well..i wish you the best!!!
Status up date! I had found out that when changing the crankshaft positioning sensor one should also replace the camshaft positioning sensor as well. I had ran the Ecm to check for trouble shooting codes and came up with the code P0340. If this code appears one should replace both sensor. After I changed out the camshaft sensor the car started right up. I want to say thank you for responding, and that I will continue to watch. Thank you again.
Right on!
@@ThecardoctorTVi have a 2006 Nissan Sentra that cranks but takes a long time to start. Is it more than likely the Crankshaft sensor?
LOL! Oh man you just gave so much lough! Absolutely superb video! Thanks a lot and all the best!
thanks!
I found this video.. And is excatly my problem.. Took me 1 hr.. And my car is back on the road.. Thank you so much..
excellent!
Lol....I like this guy! Professional and funny. Thanks for the knowledge..
Stay positive sir. Thanks again!
No worries on the blinking - just love the info! Thanks and hoping this is what is wrong with my Nissan X trail 2006
Tim you are the man! I don't care if you blink or not. Your a great diagnostician. I always appreciate your
videos.
wink wink
😂😂😂
Thank you so much for your time and good info for me. have a good day pal.
You have an awesome sense of humor. Great work
thank you
I was having the same issue on a 2009 Nissan Rogue SL
After i got a call from my wife saying her car wouldn't start ok so i checked it and it had a good Battery it wanted to start but wouldn't....everything on the car was working....tried jump starting it anyway still nothing i heard it all timing chain...starter...alternator and to me none of that made sense so i took off the wheel and when to work and yes indeed after taking off the belt my wife's car did start up. So i checked the ac pulley and it would not move so i took off the clutch and the bearings to the pulley fell out. The compressor did not lock up the pulley did so it prevented the belt from turning. After replacing clutch and pulley as well as the coil on the compressor everything is back working normally i hope this too help someone because it had me lost for words. Tim you Rock great video keep up the great work.
Thanks for making this video, going to try the verus component test on my maxima
This happened to my wife this past weekend at 10pm. Her car stalled and would crack but not start. In the middle of the road. I got there and the first thing I did was check if it had gas. The gauge said it had a quarter tank left. We pushed it to the side called my mechanic. He said push it to the parking lot and leave it there I’ll check it tomorrow morning.
The next day my mechanic checked it and he thought it was the gas pump. He pulled a gas pump out and tried it and it was working. He look at the gas tank and it was empty. He put everything back together again put 2 gallons of gasoline and the car started right up. Moral of the story; never trust your gas gauge on an old car. Always put at least a gallon of gas.
Ha ha ha ha, you got my laughing this afternoon, Tim. I loved that stereo remark. You know there's a problem, when the stereo is better than the tires in Alaska.
Very helpful yes now I have an idea of what it could be thank you so much.
Thanks for.sharing your time and this video Tim. Love the flexible battery holder.Simplicity at its best! lol
We like to keep it simple here in Alaska. Simply crappy
Took batteryout of nissan maxisma put new one in it started upran fine then died wont start set anti theft alarm
Excellent video. Thanks.
........and to think in some areas people are pushing these"safe" vehicles down the road bumper to bumper at 80 mph. Excellent video. To the point and good info. Thanks for putting it up.
haha, "sfae" seems to be a matter of opinion nowadays. haha
Thank you just help us a lot right now on our car
Tim you crack me up. When you said you have to blink more I choked on my ring ding. Great videos I've leaned a lot thank you.
haha, thank you...wink wink
Do not worry about those tires , The traction cords will will come out soon and all will be well again . And the ones that get filled with spray foam will not go flat again .
Oh wow, haha. Never heard of that before but expanding foam sounds like a great idea.
Great Video. Just what I needed to know.
Nice fix there doctor. I sure do enjoy stopping by and watching you blink! (ha ha)
im so glad you do. I'll keep doing my eyelid exercises and by this fall should be blinking like a boss!
Thanks I just got an 08 quest possible flood victim drove it home working fine previous owner replaced 2bay pv I replaced 1st bay and it cranks but won't start. Will you please pray for me and draw upon your great mastery of mechanics and help a humble soul?
The blinking comment is hilarious! I was watching the video, and got to thinking "...there is something unusual about this guy... I just can't put my finger on it..." The blinking comment explains it ! !
I have a 2005
Nissan Forester it starts but shuts off right away can you please help
Have the same problem on my Nissan Sentra
Don't have spark or injector pulse
Should I replace the crank sensor?
I have an 05 Sentra 1.8 Liter. Yesterday, while turning, the engine just stopped. I tried and tried to start it to no avail. As I sat there for about 10 minutes, trying to figure out why, I cranked it again. It started!!! I was only able to drive it about 200 yards and it quit again. This happened 5 times until I got home. I ran a diagnostic test on both of my vehicles and one of them said something about a crank sensor. Now that I have seen this, I will check my CS before I plan to replace my fuel pump. Thanks for the info.
Love your sense of humor and great video..and this is yet another reason I'll never own one of these with all their cheap battery connections etc. Take care..
Thank you!
Hello Car Doctor;
Thank you for your video. It’s very helpful. I have a 2014 NV 200 and it’s cranking, but it won’t start. It just happened out of the blue. Any suggestions?
I love this car. Even thou a woman I use it as my car for work .. I would appreciate your your thoughts on it
Great video, thanks for sharing. I've had the same issue with my 2005 Nissan Altima. Ive replaced the crank sensor 5 years back, its now turning slow. So i replaced the sensor again. It turned over quicker but now 5 days later its sometimes not starting. I have 220,000km on the timming chain. It's never been replaced. Do you think the chain need replaced? Could it be that the chain is not lining up the crank gear with the sensor?
thanks for the extra blinking brother you're doing a great job. remember ...healthy eyes are happy eyes...
haha
Awesome job thanks much
You're an old Caterpillar Man!!....Masterful!!
Great video Tim!
Thank you. It was an easy one.
Changed a crank sensor yesterday on a 06 Altima. They have a real problem with their crank and cam sensors. I like that flexible battery holder 😆
l
So strange they go for ten years then suddenly die like that
Yep we get them around 80000-100000 miles
Wow very good job thanks
Great channel. Love your attitude. I have a 2002 Altima 2.5 The car burns oil (consumes it @ 1 qt every 1000 miles or so). I found significant oil in the spark plug wells. Replace the valve cover gasket. I was told the oil was entering the combustion chamber through worn valve guide seals... Oil burning has killed the Catalytic converter. I can't handle the project in my garage. With only 128K miles!!! Local mechanics tell me piston rings are the reason for the oil consumption. #2 spark plug is definitely dirtier that the others. Any suggestions?
Yes, bu y another car..
Thanks Tim your Awsome!!
you are welcome
I think if you make a scan to engine ecu itll give you problem in crank sensor but i like to see graph on osscilloscope 😁 but still didnt understand how to read this whether it work or not so if you can explain in depth with another video 😁
My 2002 i35 starts and runs fine, but when you turn the car off and try to restart it right away it will not start . If you wait 20mins it will start and runs great with no issues but the problem repeats when you turn the ignition off again . If you removed the battery terminal and reinstall it again the the car will start up right away Any ideas
hi car doctor we have 2010 nissan pathfinder turbo diesel . it cranks but wont start :( we have checked the crank sensor and map sensor and tried fuel priming it and the Suction Control/Pressure Regulator Valve any ideas what it could be and got new glow plugs ... could it be the starter motor ??
hi, I appreciated your real life video. Thanks for taking the time to share with us.
If the crank sensor is faulty, will it interrupt power to the fuel pump?
My Nissan Pulsar Q hatch 2001 just stopped as I was doing 100k's down the highway. I is turning over just fine but no start. After many hour of inspection it appears there is no power to the fuel pump.
There is power to the fuse, but not at the pump.
Any hints would be great, thank you.
thanks for sharing your knowledge!! it does help me a lot on my job..
My pleasure. I enjoy doing it.
my 2008 diesel nissan x trail t31 now develops difficult cold start, have to rev the throttle in order to get it fire up, will that possibly be this senser or fuel pump please anyone?
I have an 2003 Nissan sentra that will not turn over. crank sensor and can sensor replaced. fuel pump kicks in... basically everything checked except timing chain. What should I have my mechanic check? Is the engine blown?
+The Car Guy....I have an '09 altima...recently had an issue with the vehicle starting. Was diagnosed that I had a random misfire in cylinder # 4 ignition coil and also had bad fuel in tank.I replaced all four ignition coils.I drove the vehicle for one day after replacing the ignition coils. But this a.m the car would not start but would act as if its trying to turn over. What could be the issue?
Nice work Tim and you're right! That guy needs some tires and a strap to hold the battery down.
Hes a young kid. Be lucky to convince him to get new tires. I was probably the same way when I was young. Boy that was a long time ago!
Yeah Tim, I thought he might be a young fella. And surely Tim it wasn't that long ago for you. You still look like a young man to me...take care Tim and don't work too hard!
Why thank you. I used to have hair about 40 years ago. I even had some brain cells left in those days. And I'm not going to work hard if I can help it. You do the same!
This guy is freak'n hilarious!! Thank u Tim!
Thank you!
my Nissan Central 2001 fine at relay pop
My wife's 2009 Nissan Murano has battery/electrical issues. Replaced the battery, 3 times in a year. It may run/start fine for 1 month, or 3 months, then nothing, won't start. If we jump it, it starts right up. Until the next time. The alternator has tested good. Any suggestions is appreciated? Thank you, John G.
THANK YOU!!!!! My Nissan sentra is acting the same way
hope you get it fixed!
kia ora from new zealand . That was very informative.
Nice fix buddy now they can have a great drive to the scrap yard. Keep blinkin !!!
Did Eric by chance give you some eye drops for me? I think my pupils are getting chapped.
The Car Doctor OMG Im sure were going to hear something . You can only hit the piñata so many times before it opens up. LOL
I better send him some beer too.
The Car Doctor HAHA he still loves ya buddy.
Tim and Rob, you might wanna toss in some Triple Antibiotic Ointment for those cracked hands of Eric O's. This really does the trick. Tell him to wash his hands clean as he can stand depending on how big and how bad the pain is. I've had some winners in my day for sure. Then put a gob of the Triple Antibiotic Ointment on the area (s) and wrap it completely with a new clean bandaid or bandage for a day.
Remove the bandage before going to work and wash again and reapply. If you get it dirty or torn at rewash and reapply bandages and ointment. Otherwise just change it out for a new bandage every day for two or three days. You'll know when you don't need a bandage cause the crack will completely be closed. Takes a week to really heal. After that - and from now on --- Don't be a fool zero - Be a man Hero and wear the right kind of gloves next time you're messing around using chemicals, or sprays or any dangerous liquids of any kind. Look at this way - Would let your kids play with that stuff? Then don't play with it either.
I know this works because it has worked for me for more then the last 45 years. When I worked on heavy engineering gear (pumps and valves and such) and equipment while in the US Navy for 20 years and again while I worked at an oil refinery as an outside operator for 15 years I would come home with hands so cracked and calloused that i had no feeling in them and they would literally be bleeding slightly when i sat down to eat at the table. They did bleed a lot mind you but any thing kinda freaks out the little ones. My hands felt like the "Thing" on "Fantastic Four". No feeling at all. I could hold hot valves and not know it was burning me unless someone told me or i looked down.
You were obviously familiar with the issue. But what would the code have been for this vehicle? Thanks!!!
I have a 2005 Nissan Altima with a V6 I have no spark I checked two of the coils in the front no spark I do have voltage to the coils with the key on and I also have voltage to the injectors with the key on I did not check for injector pulse cuz I do not have any type of noise light I don't even have a multimeter right now is there any other way to check those crank and cam sensors I have no codes however I understand sometimes the crank sensor will not throw a code. I do have the dongle that plugs into the dash the assembly line diagnostic connector and I have Torque Pro and torque light and I have Carissa and piston and a few other apps is there any way to check the crankshaft position sensor with some type of live live data on the aforementioned apps that I have? Or if I got a hold of a voltmeter can I check the output within digital multimeter set to AC volts? Also does these cars have a ignition module like the dis system on a general motors car?
Just wondering .. I have an 02 Altima sounded just like that car Cranks .. no Kick .. I recently replaced the Crank Sensor in January so 5 months ago .. Would you tell me that they can be that random to only last a few months and some last forever ? or should i be looking at something else. Relay to the Pump is Clicking The Fuse is good I replaced the Fuel pump just to Replace it and its priming.. Any Suggestions ?
I was a bit concerned about the blinking...maybe just a tad too much now. Appreciate the vid none-the-less.
Thank you for your concerns. Haha.
I have a 01 Nissan Xterra an it shut off on me on the highway I'm guessing its the crank sensor or something I'm no mechanic still learning
Does the OBD shows the crank position sensor failing? Yes, no, maybe? And thanks doc for sharing.
wow, never noticed you were a non-blinker until you pointed it out!
Oh great. Never should have said anything. Haha. Now every time I look at a camera I find myself blinking profusely.
Hey tim i have a 2001 nissan sentra and it cranks but wont start and the fuel pump doesnt start ...any ideas?
Hi my 2004 maxima overheat for hole in a hose when we fix it start the car and run over 2 minutes and shut down itself and don't run any more we check cam sensors and everythings good but no spark on plugs and car alarm is on
Question._ can be the computer or what? Thanks in advance and sorry about my english
I been having same issue with mines. I suspected the crank sensor Kinda ignored it. Looked up TSB ( Technical Service Bulletins) seen also ECM ( Electronic Control Module) recalls for that year model. When I replace my Crank Sensor shoot you message if that fixed it. The pump well got that rigged in a way its run off a switch at the moment.
I'm sure the crank sensor will get you back on the road. Good luck.
Lmao this guy’s a freaking comedian 😂
Were to find a 2005 nissan bluebird crank sensor on a MR 20 engine
Hey Tim I have a 1998 nissan sentra, replaced the crank position sensor but the car still will not start. Not getting any spark still what might have I missed?
Thanks so how did you figure out that the problem was the sensor? Did the Diagnostic Tool show that it was the problem?
I still cant figure out what is wrong with my sentra 05 1.8l I replaced, fuel pump, pligs, boots, crank and tps sensor, I also checked the relays and fuses and they arent blown, i even replaced the ecm. I just cant figure out what is wrong. I hit a deer in the front middle kind of near the left headlight. Replaced the radiator, and fixed a bunch of other stuff, but ordered the wrong fan to the radiator and I found out my uncle plugged the one side in and spliced the other in it and it worked for id say about a week and i noticed it wasnt turning the fan on. I mightve overheated it a little but after that i drove not even a few miles and i was going to drive it so i can get it parked and looked at and it just all shut off while i was driving, it just acted like i just turned the key to acc and it brought up all the lights and i havent been able to get it to spark sense and like i mentioned in the begining I repoaced all those first things after it shut off while i was driving it. Ive been searching and searching for a fix and havent been lucky yet.
Hey doc am having the same problem but on ma Nissan EX 1995 GA16 it cranks but won't start!! Could it be the same issue?
Thank you!
I have a 2007 Nissan Altima it's turning over but it's not cranking what you think could be the problem I didn't change my coil packs are my spark plugs
I have this problem right now with an 05 Altima. I replace the cps tonight but it still won’t turn over. I am out of cash and need help.
Good to see you have attended to the blinking concerns. Next please could you make sure you wear pants in all your videos. Many thanks
You're asking a lot you know. Oh wait, I thought you were talking about my"other" video channel. ;)
I have changed it. But still wont start n it only start when i put it in the wrong position
Great video OK so now for a single mom who just got a car after a long time without someone gifted me a 2004 Nissan Sentra with 140,000 miles it's been a great car I've only had it a month lol but I let a friend borrow it and they ran it almost out of gas and then put I think old gas in it, and it stopped about a mile from their house and even though I went and put fresh gas in it a couple of gallons it cranks, but it just won't start now and I don't know what to do. I'm without a car again with kids and it's cold. Any ideas?
your right Tim, end of subject!
that's what I tell my wife too! haha
Nice work 👍
Thank you

That’s the exact sound of my 2008 Nissan Altima bro
Hello!! I got a 2012 Nissan Maxima and it has no lights at all, no instrument panel light. This car with try to start without the smart key but, wont start up. Can you help??
So funny with the nissan you was working on with the battery just hanging on wish you had an idea to help me I have a 2008 nissan xtrail t31 plenty of crank no start cheers gaz uk
What do u think happen to my 1997 sentra it has a power but it wont start ? What maybe the problem ?? Can you help me to figure out
Even 7 years later, that gum joke is pretty funny
I suspect this may be my problem thank you for the information.
Hope it helps. Good luck
I have a 2004 Sentra 1.8 and it has a similar problem, in which I changed out the crankshaft postion sensor and still did not start. I have also replaced all four coils due to the car not having a distributor. What would be the next thing to look at?
Does it have spark? Injector pulse? Fuel pressure? Compression?
02 Xterra 3.3 Supercharged. completed a bunch of work, knock sensor, plugs, wires, distributor, cap and rotor, fuel pump and sending unit, fuel filter. Ran great for a day, died cranks but won't start. has spark, disconnected fuel filter to see if pump was working a few ounces of fuel than nothing, shouldn't the fuel pump continuously deliver fuel with the key in the run position? I've been trying to trouble shoot a P0300 code, now the no start issue. any help would be appreciated.
The fuel pump only runs for a few seconds after turning the key to start position and won't continue unless it sees an RPM reference. What's the fuel pressure? Does it have injector pulse.
I have a 2003 Nissan maxima in great condition inside and out. I had it sitting up for a while, I lost the key and then got it replaced after they reprogramed my key and I changed the battery in car. The car wouldn't start. Previous before this the car had no issue cranking up.
can you please help me start somewhere??
Do you have a video on a 2015 Nissan Quest SV that won't start? Mine has 57,000 mi. On it and won't start. It tries to stay on but sounds like a misfire. Any clue?
My daughter has an 03 altima. This seems to be the same issue. So we put in a new crank position sensor and still won't start. Tia
Did you ever figure out your daughters car’s problem? I’ve got an 03 Sentra and have the same problem changed the sensor and still won’t start
Lol good video thanks 😊
Go... no go... go... no go LOL! The lack of blinking is an illusion due to the camera refresh rate (just like helicopter blades seem to stand still when viewed in a video).
Oh I never noticed that. I should up my frame rate to capture this phenomenon.
Okay... I don’t know how to do that on my Nissan 05. I wish you would give step-by-step instructions for people that are just not too familiar with cars and currently are too broke it to get it fixed. lol.
You are awesome
Does the same go for a 1999 nissan sentra?
Sounds like the moose on brother bear. I like dew. Whats that? I said I like dew. I like dew to eh. 🤣🤣🤣
I have a 1.8 sentra i put a new fuel pump in and a new crank sensor and cranks but still wont start any idea's?
Hello does it apply to a 2001 it has the same issue
I have a 2000 nissan maxima, that takes a couple tries to start. Sometimes i would get lucky and it would start easily. I have took it to a mechanic and they have changed the fuel pump, timing, fly wheel, new battery a few sensors added a ground, starter and still has the same problems.. in need of help !!
Did you find a lasting solution?
Hi we have a 2002 Nissan Sentra ser spec-v, won’t start but cranks, changed fuel pump, alternator, fuel pump relay, ecm relay, crank shaft positioning sensor. We are out of ideas. Would you be able to give us some ideas?
😭😂😂😂 great job sir.
Thank you. Its feels good to fix something once in a while.
Some one is selling a 05 sentra for 600 cash with title says it was running with ac and out of no where stopped running cranks but wont start how much you think it would run to fix
The owner wanted make sure that when those tires cause the car to slide off of the road and flips over, that the battery posts pushing through the hood liner provide a nice warm source of heat.
Never thought of that. Wow, I think you might be onto something! Haha
