A drive through Keizer, Oregon on Sept. 4, 1988. I hope to make another one on Sept. 4, 2018 so we can spot the differences. I had to mute the sound because the radio was playing.
To me it's not how many things have changed, but I am amazed about how many things are still the same and how many businesses are still in the same exact lot over 30 years later!
I've lived in the Salem-Keizer area all my 34 years and watching this video was a fantastic nostalgia trip. As they were driving the length of River Rd, passing all these old buildings that are no longer there along with the ones that still stand, what blew me away was the old Roths IGA parking lot. I never knew there was a giant white building in that lot
This is so cool. This was 3 years before I was born. I drive this road almost daily it’s crazy to see some of the businesses that are still there. It makes me even more sad that Town and Country bowling alley closed down. I had no idea if was around this long and even with the same sign above the door. Thanks a lot for sharing this dude. I love seeing these kinds of videos.
Wish Pietros pizza and Safeway would have Been shown on the opposite corner of old schoolhouse. But the schoolhouse was a flashback. Loved it all, thank you.
Love this video! The old Keizer School is shown (where Schoolhouse Square now is located) and many other sites that are no longer there or changed. Thanks so much for sharing this treasure of Keizer history! Years ago I saw it, but then couldn't locate it. May we share it on our Keizer History YT channel?
They drove passed my street and I about cried :,) i wasn’t born till 2006 but it’s crazy to see how things have changed, and the cars- wow. I love this.
Wow that is so cool to see what Keizer looked like in 88 I live on River Rd now. I travel that stretch every day. So much is the same yet its so different. Lol I loved seeing this. Can't believe my luck of stumbling on it. Thank you for sharing. So cool to see.
Any carwash footage from back then you got? if so please post it! as I am a HUGE fan of carwashes and would like to see how different they were back then!
The story was compelling, the settings dreamlike and the performances…well, what more can be said..Oscar-worthy? Cinephiles have reason to head back to the theater with this daring and expertly crafted masterpiece
Great video. My wife grew up in Salem and was pausing every intersection to look at the signs. I had the same problem with a driving video I took in Kansas weirdly also in 1988. The songs on radio were flagged by the YT bots, but I was able to contest it and they just gave the artists royalties for views. The audio is such a huge part of the time travel experience and YT is dumb for making you mute it.
My girlfriend and I had an accident right at that light when she didn't see a woman turning in front of us! I was covered in tacos, lol, because we'd picked up food for her whole family.
I love videos like this! Interesting to see the Old Keizer School in its original location. My dad designed the remodel of it after it was moved to its current location near City Hall in the late 90s.
jesus, this is is what I remember from my childhood. Behind bobs burgers was a water park, and it got shut down cause someone got stuck in the slide tube, or so I was told. Still live in keizer now.
AMAZING how you hit all those lights green. haha This was before my time, but my late wife lived here art this time. We didnt move back till the early 90's.
Keizer/Salem, I remember what it looked like in 1970. Lots of farm land. It was a crap hole by 88’. I miss Oregon’s days of innocence. Gone but not forgotten.🤔
People were so much nicer back then didn't have a whole lot to worry about like we do nowadays having to deal with all the crap going on in this world.
I was yelling at this video so much. Randomly the camera just panned to the left but not right. I just wanted you to look to your right so we could see Hydro Tube behind Bob's.
Keizer Elementary School built back in the 1940s. I went to school there in the 1960s. They blocked out most of the windows by the time this video was made. It was all windows on both sides back when I was going there. Made the rooms nice and light at winter.

Loved going to that Taco Bell when I was in Jr. High in the early 70s.
@@julienielsen3746 I hate how they abandoned the cool brick buildings.
Burger King and BiMart still holding strong, but how in the world has JC Pizza held on...😝
Right? Even the sign at JC's is the same. Good on them for making it this far!
Woah woah woah, leave my baby out of this. The real question however is, how the hell is bimart still holding on ??
Yeah bimart ain’t going nowhere 😂
