- In this video, I troubleshot and repaired a 2005 BMW 325xi (E46 chassis, M54B25 engine). It had the following codes:
In engine control module (DME):
P0301 (BMW code EE) Cyl 1 Misfire
P0302 (BMW code EF) Cyl 2 Misfire
P0303 (BMW code F0) Cyl 3 Misfire
P0304 (BMW code F1) Cyl 4 Misfire
P0305 (BMW code F2) Cyl 5 Misfire
P0170 (BMW code E3) Fuel trim bank 1 - Permissible range exceeded
P0173 (BMW code E4) Fuel trim bank 2 - Permissible range exceeded
BMW code 95 Plausibility error, air mass to engine throttle
In Transmission control module (EGS):
P1770 (BMW code 92) CAN torque interface
While this may seem like a rather large list, we were able to resolve all of the issues that tripped the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with just a couple of parts.
Torque specs:
DISA (Differenzierte Sauganlage or Differential Air Intake) Valve 10Nm (7ft/lbs)
Hi, Great video, thnx for sharing your knowledge. Quick question, what if it wasn't the cracked boot/hose...? What else would you look for... We are experiencing the same code and limp home transmission problem...? 2005 325xi... It's great car, don't want to give up on it... If we reset the code it drives ok for a while, then it eventually returns...Thnx in advance.
Excellent video and presentation. btw - what scan tool are you using?
Thank you! I would have to rewatch the footage, but I’m pretty sure I was using the Thinkcar Thinkdiag scan tool software on my iPad. It has been my lightweight go-to scanner for a couple years now. My other scan tool I might have been using is an Autel MS906BT.
Thanks! @@AKJeeper
