To think that Ray went through all the racism and bullshit, band from performing in some places, and yet here he is singing about the wonderfulness about this county. He was able to see it, even though he was blind.
I don’t think ray ever sang a bad note. He is just amazing. My granddaddy played bass fiddle with him on a concert that came to our town. His player was sick and granddad got a call to play that night. Afterward he invited band to his home to jam. There are pics of me a little over a year old dancing next to ray while they played. 😂 he loved music and gave me my love of music of all kinds. But ray has always had a special place in my heart cuz my granddaddy just loved him and played his music so often around the house. It was the highlight of his career to play with him. Just that one show by accident

The scene from "The Sandlot" with this song is one of my all-time favorite movie moments.
I sat here with chills and just broke down in tears hearing this. It's the most beautiful version I've ever heard. I love this country so much, but the things that are going on now break my heart. I thank God for being born in America. God bless you, and as always God bless America 🇺🇸 🤎

Many years ago Ray Charles was in our town for a concert and contacted the choir my daughter was in to sing this song with him in concert. It was a thrilling time. He came to their rehearsal hall to practice with him.
I love Ray Charles, but this one throws me into a new realm. He did such a special job with this and it causes such love and hugs.
Happy 4th. If this song doesn't stir up the emotions of patriotism and pride then nothing will . No one sings it with more feeling than Ray.

Gives me goose bumps every time I hear Ray sing this song. Many people have lobbied over the years to have this song become our National Anthem.
This country has fallen so far in such a short time. We need to improve our country to the point it was when the Ray man sang this song.

If you go to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado you will see what inspired this poem written by Katherine Lee Bates in 1893. Music was added by Silias Pratt and revised in 1904. The summit allows a breathtaking view of the Rocky Mts. and you can feel how thin the air is. The visitor center sells donuts that are huge because they blow way up because the altitude! Great place to experience and you are not far from there - go ride the cog railway! Thanks!

I can't believe you haven't heard so many songs that are popular. As a musician you should of studied many of these songs.
.............Well, ok, it's better than the Jimi Hendrix one you just did, but I don't tend to like traditional American patriotic songs to be soulful. It gets to be more about the individual singing & vocal acrobats (I'm now thinking Whitney Houston), than the subject matter. But no disrespect is felt in this comment.
Too bad they no longer preform all the verses to this songs; like America The Beautiful, God Bless America, and The Star Spangled Banner! They stopped singing them to shorten the song, but also to erase our God centered foundations. Look up the lyrics and you will be amazed.
