The show The Mentalist had some chess in it.
i wish you had covered chess in person of interest. there are couple videos if you search it up on youtube and they are amazing in my opinion, well put together and instructive.
If there ever will be a part 4, check out the restaurant scene in an episode of Columbo. (The most dangerous match). In this scene two chessmasters are playing a game in a restaurant. Both not having a chess set at hand they improvise by using the red en white tablecloth as the board. And whatever they can find as the pieces. (Peper and salt shakers, emty snail shell, etc.) Also check out the episode "culture" in the British commedy "Bottom".

Hi Danny! you should've kept going with downey's sherlock holmes, the position on the board after that scene was based on an actual match between Larsen and Petrosian but this time the movie delves in what if the Queen Sacrifice was accepted (right after Queen takes pawn)! Very nice attack combination also with a cherry on top by continuing their game outside of the board ^_^ hope u read this

The scene from Blazing Saddles is probably the funniest chess scene dialog ever on film. Unfortunately, you cut out the setup line:

I like how the floor in the Sherlock Holmes scene was checkered...very clever
In one of these videos you covered the Chess from The Seventh Seal, they play a game along the course of the film as it plays out with the Black Plague as a backdrop. If I remember correctly they did not play one continuous game but rather set up different positions throughout the film. I will not give away how it goes, it is a wonderful film.
I will suggest some that I didn't see in any of the videos:
There is a TV series from Canada called "Endgame" that follows a GM named Arkady Balagan
The TV Series Monk features a Chess centered episode called Mr. Monk and the Genius
The TV Series Columbo has a Chess themed episode called The Most Dangerous Match
There are two movies called "Knight Moves", one with Christopher Lambert follows a Chess Master
involved in a murder mystery. The other with Gene Hackman features a Chess game amore off to the side.
There is a Broadway (Originally British Stage) Musical called "Chess" that has been filmed and follows two Chess GMs. Inspired loosely by the 1972 match but the musical takes liberties and introduces a love triangle, the characters are based on Fischer and Karpov not Spassky, the theme is more about the Cold War with the match being an allegory for the Cold War, and it features the song One Night in Bangkok.
There is a Disney movie "Queen of Katwe" that follows Phiona Mutesi as she uses a talent for chess to break out of the slums of Katwe, Uganda.
There is a movie called "Knights of the South Bronx" that features a number of chess games that are harder to see at times. This is about the development of the Chess in Schools program in NYC.
There is also "Life of a King" with Cuba Gooding Jr.. He plays Eugene Brown, who founds the Big Chair Chess club and meets a young talent in the process.
I also don't think I saw anything from Pawn Sacrifice :)
Complete the Sherlock Holmes scene. It’s actually a variation from Tal Botvinik game or Tal Spassky

There was an episode of Colombo where the challenger murdered the chess champion because he could not beat him at the table. At one point they played at an Italian restaurant, using salt and pepper dispensers as pieces. And Colombo later had to reconstruct who won that game. This deserves to be in part 4.
There are two other examples I know of that you haven't listed yet, one good, one laughable. The laughable one is from the TV series "The Mentalist." The title character glances at a game between two extras and says, "Oh, you responded to his Ruy Lopez with the Gruenfeld Defense." Nobody could understand why I immediately burst out laughing. The good example is from the quirky little series "Lexx." In the fourth and last season, Kai, who is undead, plays chess against the Prince, who can grant him mortality, for the right to die and release his soul. The episode is a complete game. I wrote down the moves, and in style it reminds me of the games of the German masters of the 1870s-1880s.
And I have to ask--you didn't know that the chess scene in "From Russia With Love" was the game Spassky-Bronstein, USSR champs 1960 (minus pawns at c5 and d4)? If so, pardon me for my surprise.
Could you link the game from "Lexx."? Perhaps it is a real game?

Assassins (Chess game between Sly and the character of Nikolai)
...the whole premise is for our protagonist, played by Jason, can escape his Esoteric prison chiefly thru Chess, thru his tutor, played by Andre 3000

Check out the the episode "A Game of Chess" from season 2 of the Mission Impossible TV series that ran in the 1960s and 1970s. For this assignment, the Mission Impossible team utilizes a computer that plays unbeatable chess, and disregard the fact that the computers at that time still played like beginners. There's one game where the computer wins with a two rook sacrifice, but the most amusing chess moment comes when it mates a grandmaster on move 9, to which the GM rants about how "no human, not Lasker, not Nimzowitsch, could play like that." By my non-master eyes, the computer didn't do anything exceptional and won so fast because the GM played like a duffer, but you can decide.

3:10 it is possible to check the white king with both a bishop and a queen on the same diagonal because recall that the black queen arrived at that square by capturing the white queen. So prior to the capture, the queen was pinned by the bishop.

How can you miss out the chess scene from Person of Interest between Finch and his machine, it's literally the best one.
3:10 It is indeed impossible. With a non-virgin queen, the double check is illegal, since the queen is closer to the king than the bishop. With a promoted pawn however, it would have had to capture a white piece on e1 to deliver a double check. Not only would that have been illegal, since there are no non-royal white pieces on the board, but the pawn would have checked the king on g1. So the position is illegal. The only way this could have been imaginable is if the queen slid over a square in the process of the board being flipped.
They never covered Austin Powers vs Ivana Humpalot, that game was epic.

-- Red Dwarf (the "Queeg" episode)
-- Snoopy Come Home (Snoopy vs. Lila -- Woodstock is standing in as a pawn)
-- Casablanca -- i.e. The chess problem Rick is working on in the first scene -- I've heard it was a game Bogey was actually in the middle of with a GM on the set
-- Doctor Who -- Forget the exact episode, but it was during the Tom Baker - Louise Jameson era... The Doctor is playing against K-9 and Leela is watching... Maybe someone here recalls which episode... It looked like a very legitimate game.
There's also the "Columbo" episode, "A Most Crucial Match", the one where the murderer (Lawrence Harvey) is a Bobby Fischer-esque GM, and in one scene he's playing a simul and Columbo's relentless questioning so rattles him that he loses a game to Fool's Mate!
There's also a scene at the beginning of the episode where Harvey is in a restaurant with his intended victim (his Russian arch-Rival, a la Spassky) and they're playing on a checkered tablecloth, with salt shakers and other items... I'm guessing this scene is total codswallop, because I've heard top players like Kasparov say they have the Staunton set so ingrained into how they calculate moves in their head, they simply will not play with any unconventional pieces.
sadly didn't cover the best part of the chess scene of game of shadows.. they split it into parts on youtube the chess gets even cooler.

Uh, but in the first scene, I don't see a move for the white king. You must have overlooked the bishop on a6 covering f1. The James Bond scene is based on an actual game, Spassky - Bronstein, Leningrad 1960.
And that is not Bond. He should know that that's not Sean Connery.

My point was that the chess player is one of the villians, not Bond. But the host of this show said something like classic for Bond, and golf clap for Mr. Bond (at the end). He misunderstood that guy as James Bond.
Hi, thanks for the great and fun compilation. As a peculiar addition to the collection could perhaps be the S1E21 of MacGyver in 1986, "Prisoner of Conscience", where a 7 x 8 chess board is introduced at some 15:00 onwards. There are a couple of chess related episodes throughout the series.

You are wrong to fail Geri's game. The Geri who faked a heart attack, it was his turn to move as white. He flipped the board without other Geri realising but it was still "his move" except now he is black. While the position is impossible, the order of events is correct
