My son spent 17 years in the USAF. Was a member of the Thunderbirds from 2004 to 2008. He never had a bad word to say about the Blue Angels. He said they are a different branch of our military and deserve our respect. Good for you son.

I was happily browsing the Internet and startled by loud thunder outside, it turned out these guys were practicing right over my house in Finland. I swiftly climbed to the roof and enjoyed the show.
US Air Force Thunderbirds are the Best---By Far
When I was a kid I lived close enough to an Air Force base to watch the T-Birds from my back yard. They are truly fantastic. Not gonna get into the T-Bird/Blue Angel debate. They're both real good...
I just heard of the Thunderbirds when I went to the last Air/Sea show here in Ft. Lauderdale. I always thought the NAVY's Blue Angels were the premier aerial acrobats of the U.S. military. I've known about the Blue Angels since my youth.

Thoses pilots are downright amazing! Greta crews as well. Just stunning skill all around.

If you're looking for great precision, another branch, the Blue Angels, does stuff you won't believe. The East Vipers use F-15's. The power in those things are amazing, you can remove the wings, sit it up like a rocket, and have it take off just like one.
You're forgetting the Red Arrows nachtkriechen. The RAF's Red Arrows are also very sharp and precise with their formation aerobatics.

@MrThatsYe Acctully both planes go about the same speeds in Airshows due to the fact they may not break the sound barrier. So to be 100% correct both planes are about equal when it comes to Airshow Performences. Both teams are very great at what they do and take great pride in what they do.

@pen24 F-16s are also cheaper and much more agile than the F-15. There are probably other more technical reasons behind it, but it's likely because F-16s are smaller and more maneuverable

@astrorath153 The Army doesn't fly any fixed-wing airplanes capable of aerobatic maneuvers, just a few recon and cargo planes. However, the Army has their world class "Golden Knights" parachute team. The marines are represented by the Blue Angels (since they fall under the Department of the Navy), and some of the pilots are marines.

Having served in the USAF for over 20 years (Avionics Mtn.) I really have no idea of what you are saying. Have seen the Thunderbirds many, many times - stateside and overseas. For the record, IMHO, I think the Blue Angels are totally "top drawer". One time, even stopped at the El Centro Naval Air Center to see the aircraft (up close) - they were gone. N6395T & B6370 (for you sky divers)
T-birds rock! Maybe someday they and the Blue Angels will be flying the F-35! :-)

My final comment on this subject. I agree, it "all" seems a bit over done, but that is to illustrate, I'm sure, precision. Number one, I couldn't do all of those TDY's; number two, I couldn't get into all of the choreography that is used - a bit over the top, IMHO. But, hey, I was a RADAR, Aircraft Electronics weenie, what the hell do I know! Just get in the plane, turn the key, and let's get this show on the road!! N6395T

@bigchiefmingingbolok I have seen those videos and the red arrows are pretty good but not the best. I think the Blue Angels are the best. One way I judge that is you can tell how stable and precise they are. When I look at some of the videos it looks as though they are going to run into eachother. I do have a little bias because I saw the blue angel performance a month ago and have never seen red arrows in person.

@pumpe1000 then you saw a bad airshow dude, Ive seen many teams, red arrows, thunderbirds, blue angels, russian knights and thunderbirds were the most inspiring and awesome! blue angels flew closer but WAYY slower than the Thunderbirds

It's sad that people are more into getting into childish arguments over which Flight Demonstration Team is better then just enjoying the content of the video. Honestly all the teams are good or they wouldn't be doing what they are doing which is putting on a great show. If the audience enjoys the show and walks away happy that's what matters.

Proven? What quantifiable attribute of every flying team in the world did you measure? Besides, it's the most common opinion that the U.S. Navy Blue Angels are the best. U.S. Navy pilots and United States Air Force pilots are the best world over. Don't try to argue with me either, I'm really high right now and this could go on for days. That is all.

yeah yeah they know a lot but the bad thing is that we fight others peoples wars and not our wars
I still think the Russian Antonov display team is better, sure its only one aircraft and lasts only a few minutes, but the nose dive landing from 5,000ft is a real show stopper, and you get to go away from the air show with a piece of the aircraft.

@bigchiefmingingbolok I have seen thunderbirds, red arrows, and blue angels, but I will say in my own opinion that the thunderbirds are quote "THE BEST TEAM I HAVE SEEN." and so what if those guys use light trainers, that is no real display of the pilots ability. If a pilot can get a modular scaled down fighter jet to do as he pleases I think that he is much more skilled than a trainer airplane stuntman
Don't you see the trend with people ganging up on you? That must trigger something in your head that says "maybe I'm wrong here." There's nothing wrong with supporting a flight team but to it with harsh language and no facts to your case makes you out to be a joke. You're not an engineer and judging by your comments I can definitely tell you're not a pilot. I served 20 yrs in the military as a controller and then a pilot and I've work with all branches. Not one of them stands out from the rest.
All I hear is A LOT of crap from people who's countries do not even have a descent air force, let alone a team who is the best of the best!!!
And oh by the way. When we said AMERICA it always has referred to the United States of AMERICA. Everyone knows that.
I respect ALL Aviators from any where. I love to see every team in the air. They all have something different to bring and to show, and that is AWESOME.
But I'm bias and I think the Blues and the Birds are the very best fo the bunch.

@bigchiefmingingbolok Yeah, but what they're doing is showing off aircraft that is used in warfare, and how good their control over them are. Those planes could be loaded with ammunition/bombs and sent directly into a war zone.
