When I was young, I thought there were too much good news on the Chinese broadcast. But after I grew up, I found that built the base of proud for me and the Chinese people I know and made us to think in a positive way the future of Chinese democracy, although we would often criticize many things happened in China.

Thank you for sharing Professor Lea Waters on hope and elevation effect. You have reminded me how important it is to spread good news and positivity despite the possible backlash. I'm trying to do the little that I can to make the world a better place through positive psychology in my country and definitely need all the positivity I can get and not be shaped by the media. BE WELL!

Brilliant!!! I love the idea that there would be a lot less depression if we all shared Hope. We need help, hope truth, and balance. We need compassion and kindness. I love the idea of inspiring. The news does sensationalize the negative. We all want truth but we need balance. Currently , the news is far too negative.
I’ve noticed lately that they’ve been trying lately to throw in an inspirational story at the end of their broadcast. It’s still not balanced. News people, I’m sure there are heroes among you think about it getting thousands of people off of antidepressants. You News folks can be part of the solution. We are not talking about imbalanced fake news in either direction. We’re talking about inspiration, positivity, and honesty. I love this idea I believe this lovely lady is onto something important.

Hi Lea, thanks for your contribution. I think you make a lot of valid points about the news and its impact on people. News, good or bad is a bit like a switch on the mind.
I agree what you say about the elevation effect occurring in response to sport, or it could be from music, art, etc. I won my first gold medal for a global competition after watching the Rio Olympics 2016 and Great Britains gold rush..... Pretty inspiring. I installed Rio 2016 Olympic Games app and set about winning some gold medals of my own. I've won quite a few now and I've become a World number 1 on the StickTennis World tour. Optimism and uplifting positive psychology works. Striking a balancing between giving good news and reporting not so good news is important.
I'm going to put on my PI hat on and get on the case. I'm putting an APB out for good news, in the mean time, I'm putting your video on twitter, and Facebook. have a great day......

Working with children, in sharing stories of positive acts and people, only makes them want to do this more often, to give feedbck to those who are sharing their strengths and positive gains.... our students are gaining more experience at sharing what they notice with their peers, and it makes me smile everyday, with pride... its like rainbows being painted everyday. Looking forward to a new year with more celebrations of 'positive detectives' Thank you again for being persistent with the challenges you have faced. There are many of us along side you.

In the 64 years of life's experience I have come to the conclusion that 85% of the 7 Billion humans we share our amazing Planet with are good people. It's the 15% of creeps who get the attention. I live by a saying - 'Something good comes from something adverse, the adverse is there to smack you up side the head to wake you up.' Life's always a learning process and we're all still learning. Never give up. Have a nice day and follow your bliss.

    Thoughts come from where?
Very good talk. I agree the media is imbalanced and not worthy. The thing is, none of our thoughts should be taken very seriously. We can spontaneously have either positive or negative thoughts. Why do we identify with "our" thoughts? All thoughts should be questioned. Life is a fun (or should be fun?) illusion. And the dark part of the story will not magically go away, well not unless you use magic.
