I get where SAS is coming from because numbers tell me he is a choker but if he does it multiple times I can't say it's choking anymore, it's what is expected. for example let's say in baseball i'm a .300 batter overall but against left handed pitchers i'm .100. if I strike out against a leftie during the bottom of the 9th bases loaded my team down by one then I didn't choke I just suck against lefties.
I would be interested to see his free throw % when the game is on the line since it is a more detailed stat and see if it's still 70+% or see if it's lower.

SAS is usually hyperbolic but i actually agree with him here. choking is deviation from norm. also its unfair to say a player chokes if he's taking all the important shots time after time. he took that deep 3 to tie the game in, he took over in OT, he made the and 1 layup, he had to go take the 2 FTs, he had to take the last shot.

I don’t get why people are pointing to them being 0-3. It’s an 82 game season people. It’s not like they aren’t making the playoffs. The Thunder are 0-3 and I wouldn’t panic they’ll be fine. The Lakers are a game away from the Rockets, Jazz, and Wizards. Those are playoff teams. The Lakers are still in the process of figuring things out together.

I agree with Stephen A's definition of choking, but to say because Bron shoots a low percentage at the line that he didn't choke is erroneous use of his own definition. He still shoots 70+ percent from the line. His freethrow during clutch drops to close to 50%. That is a significant dip and the fact he does it consistently just means he has been consistently unclutch. Also i think being unclutch on a last shot is not necessarily missing a shot, but the decision behind the last shot. Getting to your spots and talking your shot shows that the moment didnt get to you, you likely just missed. But when tou deviate from your norm like Bron taking a step back fade away jumper is not one of his spots. Its not his shot, and it implies the moment dictated his decision and therefore he was unclutch.
